Chapter 168 - 168

However, the best way to make Umbrella make a mistake is to attack one of their branches, preferably a somewhat important one. Then, we might see captured personnel, though that's a small chance.

Wesker's gaze continuously searched the map, checking the locations of Umbrella's various research branches. The Atlantic Ocean Branch, the Latin America Branch, both seemed mediocre.

Finally, his gaze settled on the French Branch. This was a very important research institute. Rumor had it that the Nemesis was born here, and this branch's research capabilities were formidable.

"This is it, the French Branch, hmph." A crimson glint flashed in Wesker's eyes behind his sunglasses, plotting some new mischief.

Chapter 279: Alex's Mission

"When you wake up, go over there and eat, but tidy up first." Eddie pointed to a table not far away, laden with various cooked foods, pizza, burgers, and so on.

"Thank you." Claire was a little shy. After tidying herself up, she walked over to eat. She was truly hungry, so hungry that she didn't want to bother with superfluous pleasantries.

Eddie continued his drug research on the computer without looking back. He had promised Rita's father, Senator Bridges, to bring down drug prices.

He planned to seize this market share through official acquisition channels. And when needed, Bridges could provide cover for Eddie—a mutually beneficial arrangement.

Research on the Veronica Virus was ongoing, but progress was slow, which annoyed Eddie. Alexia seemed to have already known that her virus would be taken by others. Therefore, it was designed to be inseparable from the start, only allowing research to proceed according to her set plant genes combined with ancient queen ant genes.

On the contrary, this was what Eddie hated most. Even if one could gain transcendent power, becoming a monster would lose the original meaning of the research.

After eating her fill, Claire was called to train and adapt to her new strength. The sudden increase in power made her unaccustomed; some sturdy objects would shatter with a mere grip, which left her speechless.

Tap, tap, tap, a sound of high heels approached, bringing with it a fragrant breeze. This perfume scent belonged to Alex!

The graceful Alex said with a smile, "My dear, I'm returning to Tortuga Island. There are still things to handle there. That old man Spencer is starting to suspect me!"

"What does he suspect you of? Colluding with me?" Eddie asked with a mischievous grin.

"No, we are husband and wife, so that doesn't count as collusion." Alex shook her slender finger, "It's about Albert. He faked his death during the Mansion incident. Later, Sergei discovered he was still alive, and Spencer is already wondering if his Wesker Project has succeeded. He sent people to monitor me."

"That's normal. Do what you need to do. Continue to follow his instructions. I'm also very interested in the T-Phobos Project. As you said, if one is fearless, they can truly control viral mutation." Eddie still affirmed the T-Phobos Virus.

However, the T-Phobos Virus had very high requirements for its host. Unless one was already calm and composed, or had lost their emotions, that thing was useless.

But once it took effect, its power could easily overpower any other virus. It was currently the most demanding yet most explosively powerful virus.

This project was originally being developed by Alex. Having his wife do what she should do and then transmitting the T-Phobos Virus data to him—this idea was brilliant.

Using Spencer's resources, but Eddie reaped the benefits. How could it not be good?

"Then I might contact you less often in the future. You'll miss me, won't you?" Alex blinked her beautiful eyes. Reluctant as she was, she never let emotions get in the way when it was time for business.

"When is your flight? If you want to meet, we can meet anytime. You're responsible for researching viruses, and I'm responsible for earning money to support the family," Eddie said in a very manly way.

"Pfft, in three hours, I guess. We still have time to hand over some data. My experiments don't need you to pay; there's a big spender who will foot the bill." Alex's smile was very charming. Her hatred for Spencer was not limited to this. If it weren't for the fact that it wasn't time for revenge yet, she would have unhesitatingly shot that old man.

Eventually, Alex left. Being able to come out for a while this time was already quite good. She left two bottles of her blood and some hair and skin flakes, which were for her husband to help her formulate a suitable enhanced serum. Mastering such transcendent power was more suited to her strong-woman style.

Returning to the laboratory, the injured Valerie had already woken up. She was still a bit disoriented. Fortunately, she was treated in time and wasn't infected into a zombie; otherwise, she wouldn't have lived to see the Daylight.

"Valerie, I'm Yoko. Do you remember me?" Suzuki Yoko asked, crouching on the floor.

Valerie nodded, "I remember, Yoko. Did you save me?"

Suzuki Yoko shook her head, a hint of pride flashing across her pretty face, "Not me, it was my boss Eddie. You're still very weak, but eating something will help you recover." After speaking, she helped the other party to the dining room.

Meanwhile, Eddie went to the engineering department, which was Emma's workshop, filled with a large amount of manufacturing equipment for parts. Everything here was good stuff bought through Excella, equipment used for making firearms. Selling them for money wasn't the goal, but self-sufficiency was fine.

"Eddie, you're here! Why do you have time to come over today? Could you hand me that diode flow plate over there?" Emma was assembling a sniper rifle. This was the official version of an electromagnetic sniper rifle, which didn't use traditional gunpowder bullets but rather something akin to electrical energy.

Eddie handed over the item; it was quite heavy, probably around twenty pounds. This part was a bit too heavy. "I came to see your latest achievements. I have a feeling I'll be going out on some missions again, so I need some backup weapons."

"Are you fighting monsters again? You must be careful. Coming back safely is the most important thing." Emma was still assembling the firearm, her head down, not even looking up, without even basic courtesy.

"Where's Moira? Isn't she your assistant?" Eddie looked around but didn't see Barry's eldest daughter.

"Her? She went to train and spar with Claire. She's not my assistant. I still need some help, you know? It's outrageous that I'm the only one working in such a large engineering room!" Emma started complaining. At least he should find her an assistant.

"Should I have Cindy help you? Let her help you for now. It's hard to find a good candidate in a short time." Eddie also had no choice; he couldn't ask her to have a baby, after all.

"Never mind. After I finish this electromagnetic sniper rifle, I'm going to stop for a while. I need to make a few robotic arms to help me with things. With a supercomputer like Red Queen, not using it would be a real waste." Emma shook her head and refused. She just wanted someone to talk to her; otherwise, being alone was very lonely.

Chapter 280: Rachel's Text Message

"When are you going on your mission? This gun hasn't been debugged yet. Take it out for a test then and tell me the results." Emma finally finished assembling the firearm. It was an extended sniper rifle with a hollow barrel, composed of two electromagnets.

"This thing won't explode, will it? How do I reload?" Eddie's expression was strange. This kind of electromagnetic explosion could easily lead to accidents.

"Of course not. Everything I produce is quality-guaranteed. For charging, you can use this device, but household electricity won't work. You'll need to go to a nearby substation to charge it." Emma took out a disc-shaped device.

"You really are something. Thanks for your hard work, take a break." Eddie took the sniper rifle. It was a bit heavy, weighing about four hundred pounds, but it didn't affect him much.

Emma stretched and yawned, "Alright, I'm going to rest. Remember to give me the combat data, and I can adjust it to optimal performance for you."

"Does this gun not have parameters for attack range?" Eddie suddenly remembered the most crucial question.

Emma blinked her beautiful eyes, "It has nothing, that's why I need you to test it, you dummy."

Was he being treated as a guinea pig again? These women were truly malicious, using this method to vent their dissatisfaction with the twenty-year long-term contracts they signed?

As the Western Federation, in conjunction with the Federation of Pharmaceutical Companies, imposed economic sanctions on Umbrella, the company, unable to operate normally, began to crumble.

Inability to conduct commercial activities meant inability to do business and earn money. No one would stay with a company that had no revenue. And with its stock plummeting repeatedly, it signaled Umbrella's gradual decline from its position as the pharmaceutical company overlord.

The black market began to see a large-scale outflow of many bio-weapons, with the Hunter being the most popular. One Hunter was equivalent to twenty submachine guns, and a single Hunter could take out a well-equipped squad with only light weapons in a small corridor.

In volatile regions, these bio-weapons were the most effective, cheap, and practical. They could also be controlled, released when needed, and refrigerated when not.

In the Federal Bio-Terrorism Countermeasure Committee's office building, the golden-haired Rachel was drinking coffee in her office, a map displayed on her computer. It was a global map, showing many red dots across the eight continents, each representing a bio-terrorist attack.

Her pristine fingers tapped rhythmically on the desk as Rachel fell into deep thought. What kind of information should she provide to her man? On the surface, she was the Federal Bio-Terrorism Countermeasure Committee's field team leader, but in reality, she had long since pledged allegiance to Eddie, becoming his spy within the Committee.

"Team Leader, there's a meeting. The Commander wants you to attend." A knock on the door interrupted Rachel's contemplation.

"I know, you can go now." Rachel stood up, clenching her hand into a fist, producing a crackling sound of bones.

In the conference building, there were elites transferred from various departments. General Morgan still held the title of General and was now responsible for all operations of the Federal Bio-Terrorism Countermeasure Committee.

"Everyone's here. This is your first mission: escort WilPharma employees to Idonia in the Middle East, where a new bio-attack has occurred. We have already obtained permission from the local armed forces to enter directly and eliminate the reactionary armed forces using bio-weapons," General Morgan said, leaning on the table, his expression somewhat fanatical.

"This operation will be led by Rachel, with Parker and Sheila as deputy leaders. Depart immediately; the Marines will support you. Success is the only option this time! If you succeed, I will host a celebration banquet for you. This is your first mission, and it must be done cleanly and efficiently, understood?" General Morgan looked around at his subordinates.

"Understood!" Rachel saluted, but inwardly, she didn't care. Bio-weapons? How powerful could they be?

After returning to her dormitory, Rachel sent Eddie a text message: "In three days, there will be a bio-attack in Idonia. The Committee will conduct a pacification operation in the area."

Eddie was talking with Suzuki Yoko and Valerie. He was trying to persuade Valerie to join his team. Through their conversation, he learned that this university student indeed had profound insights and achievements in chemistry, and also some understanding of biology research; she was not a waste who had high grades but zero practical ability.
