Cherreads

Chapter 203 - 203

On the main island, mercenaries and Marine Corps soldiers were still retreating, as a large number of The Bandersnatch charged over. Their retractable arms posed a great threat, making them impossible to guard against.

"This is Echo Six Team. We are currently in a plane, tracking the fleeing Alfred," Jeddingham reported via radio.

"Your mission is to continue tracking him and bring him to justice. If necessary, you may execute him!" General Morgan said coldly.

"Understood." Jeddingham felt puzzled, but it was also normal; at least in some extreme cases, he could only be killed, not captured alive.

General Morgan picked up the phone again. "Rachel, Sheila, Parker. Take your combat team and go support Echo Six Team."

Rachel was in her apartment, reading about parenting. She was planning to take maternity leave. All she wanted was to have a child with her husband, Eddie, whether it was a boy or a girl.

Upon receiving General Morgan's order, a hint of displeasure flashed in Rachel's beautiful eyes. She hated receiving assignments during her vacation. "Okay, but I demand double vacation compensation, and I also require exemption from any mission requirements during that period."

General Morgan was very annoyed that she dared to bargain with him. "This is an order!"

"Then I choose to resign!" In the past, Rachel would never have dared to say such a thing. The only reason she dared to say it now was the courage Eddie had given her: if she wasn't happy, she shouldn't do it, and he would support her.

"You! Fine, after this mission, I will give you a month's vacation." General Morgan was somewhat displeased, but he had to admit that Rachel's mission success rate was indeed very high, and she was agile. She was a fierce warrior.

Rachel, having successfully bargained, stood up and stretched. What could be more delightful than seeing her husband again?

It took five hours to get from Rockfort Island to the Antarctic Research Facility. Eddie suddenly realized that the plane had been locked and set to automatic cruising mode.

"We've been discovered. The plane is locked now, and we don't know where it will fly," Eddie said calmly.

"What!" Jeddingham exclaimed.

Marissa, with her bright red explosion of hair, looked a bit unwell. When Sienna went to check, she discovered, "You're injured?"

Marissa nodded, took out a pistol, and handed it over. "I was scratched by those Hunters. Kill me before I mutate."

Sienna was a bit incredulous. "Aren't those Hunters non-toxic?"

"She's probably talking about the Sweeper, an improved version of the Hunter. The Hunters on Rockfort Island can be controlled, made to kill whoever they're told to. Those are the real controllable weapons," Eddie said, inspecting the transport plane.

Ada, meanwhile, closed her eyes to rest. She didn't want to get involved in other matters and was also not very used to being with so many people. Having always been a lone wolf, suddenly facing so many people made her a little unaccustomed.

"Eddie, you can save her, right? I know you can save her, please, save her!" Sienna grabbed Eddie's collar excitedly, saying she didn't want to see another teammate die in front of her.

The grief she felt at the Waste Disposal Plant when facing the petrified Tyrant was still vivid in her memory.

"I could save her, but why should I? Death is inevitable, especially when fighting biological weapons. Facing new types of biological weapons, one careless mistake could lead to death," Eddie said expressionlessly.

"How can you be so cold-blooded? We're all trying to prevent biological weapons from running rampant! Why won't you even help a little?" Sienna angrily grabbed Eddie's collar, shaking him and questioning him.

Caroline, however, pulled Sienna away, her expression serious. "Please save my teammate. I will repay you with everything I have, please."

Chapter 338: Nemesis's Third Form

This was all just a trick, a performance with Caroline, cooperating to give the other party a reason to leave.

Marissa shook her head. "No need. I don't need to owe anyone a favor."

Swish! Caroline took out a test tube and injected Marissa with its contents.

"It will take effect in about thirty minutes," Eddie nodded.

"What will take effect? Will I turn into a zombie?" Marissa asked, confused.

Eddie shook his head. "No, 'take effect' refers to the serum taking effect. After the vaccine works and expels the virus, it will utilize a unique and interesting human ability."

"What do you mean? What ability?" Even Sienna was getting interested; this seemed somewhat intriguing.

"Fart!" Eddie grinned mischievously.

These two words were suffocating. Fart? Marissa felt a bit ashamed and angry. No matter how optimistic she was, she was still a girl, and farting in front of so many people was not appealing and very embarrassing.

Even Ada opened her beautiful eyes and gave her man an annoyed look, thinking her little man was doing it on purpose!

Eddie, however, explained with a smile, "This is a normal physiological phenomenon. Farting to detoxify, isn't that normal? Simple and quick. Isn't this a good thing? You're really asking for too much."

This left Marissa speechless. She didn't know what to say, so she could only glare at the man and squat in the corner, sulking.

Sienna also looked at Eddie with annoyance; she felt like hitting someone.

Jeddingham and HUNK exchanged glances. "Are all scientists this strange?"

"Ordinary people can't keep up with a scientist's way of thinking," HUNK could only say.

Alfred used the instruments to lock the transport plane and fighter jets, sending them all to the Antarctic Research Facility, the Ashford Family's last stronghold. "You hateful bastards, you will die terribly. Wait to be devoured by ants."

On Rockfort Island, Wesker only obtained some data regarding the improved version of the Hunter. However, he couldn't get any information about the descendants, as Rockfort Island was about to explode. Wesker could only grab some data and flee, heading to rendezvous with Glory Pharmaceutical's forces for evacuation.

Glory Pharmaceutical had sent a fast-diving submarine, which excelled in speed, allowing it to evade most surveillance. Even battleship radars couldn't detect it; its sufficient stealth was its advantage.

As the explosion sounded, the entire Rockfort Island was blown sky-high by high explosives. The sympathetic detonation started from the underground research facility, with a series of oil drums and gas accelerating the explosion process. This caused the explosion to intensify, eventually blowing the entire island into the air.

The Bandersnatch, sand worms, mutated salamanders, and more were all blasted into the sky, as if all criminal evidence had been annihilated by the explosion. No evidence was left behind, making it impossible to find any clues.

After the explosion came a period of burning. High concentrations of gas leakage caused toxic fumes to continuously emanate from the area. The leakage of gas and natural gas also led to the continuous burning of the large fire, providing sufficient fuel.

Even continuous light rain could not extinguish the large fire on the island. Most of the biological weapons were incinerated in the flames; the previous explosion had already killed most of the monsters.

Even if some remained, these monsters had already suffered irreparable damage. They fell into the flames, eventually burning to death.

The fleet commander had just breathed a sigh of relief. Finally, all the soldiers had been withdrawn. It didn't matter if the mercenaries died; as long as the soldiers were safe.

A mixed force consisting of Pharmaceutical Association mercenaries, Marine Corps, and some soldiers from the Bio-Terrorism Countermeasure Commission retreated together to the small island where they had initially landed.

Here, there were also broken mutated shark carcasses washed ashore, and zombie and Hunter corpses everywhere, emitting a foul, fishy odor.

The main island in the distance was ablaze. Fortunately, speedboats were already arriving near the small island to pick them up. Submarines scanned below the sea surface for any potential creatures, using mines to kill mutated sharks and mutated salamanders.

After being bombarded, the Nemesis was released from its restraints. This Nemesis utilized a parasite obtained by the European branch, which could enhance physique and intelligence, reportedly found in the Iberian Peninsula.

The burning Nemesis began to extensively devour surrounding corpses: Hunters, mass-produced Tyrants. The parasite's tentacles began to extend, pulling in everything it touched to consume and replenish nutrients.

Even after forming a cocoon, it continued to use its tendrils to pull nearby corpses for consumption.

After ten minutes of rest, the cocoon shattered. A giant crawling monster appeared, its tentacles adhering to the ground, moving with a liquid-like speed.

"What is that monster?" a Marine Corps squad leader exclaimed in shock, then felt his feet lighten as he was directly dragged away.

"Open fire!" Another captain immediately picked up an assault rifle and retaliated.

Bullets hitting the Nemesis had no effect. A large number of tentacles anchored the Nemesis to the small island's cliff. After its restraints were removed, its height reached over thirty meters. This was a strange alien formed after consuming a large number of monster corpses and undergoing a fermentation period in the cocoon.
