It hadn't been many months since the last robbery of the Terragrigia bank, and Sadler still vividly remembered Eddie Cai's strength. That guy was difficult to eliminate, even when Sadler went all out.
For the first time, Sadler felt he had been reckless. Why did he have to kidnap Ashley? If he had known Graham was retiring earlier, why the heck would he have bothered? What a waste of time!
Chapter 495: Lisa's Special Ability
Leon also drove to this quiet village, where witnesses claimed to have seen Ashley. Accompanying him were three local Kingdom Agents. These men chatted in the local dialect while sizing up Leon.
"Don't stare at me, I understand the Iberian language," Leon said in the local dialect.
"Alright, we were just saying that no one has visited this village for a long time. They barely pay any taxes, and we don't like coming here; they smell terrible and don't care about hygiene. We'll wait for you outside later; you can go look yourself," said the agent who was driving.
"I understand. You guys just wait for me outside." Leon frowned, realizing the situation was not simple.
The information gathered suggested that this village was strange, unless they were all vagrants. As for paying taxes, that was truly irrelevant. This place was so remote, they probably didn't even meet the standard requirements for taxation!
Soon, Leon got out of the car. The three local agents were laughing and pulling out cigarettes, and some were even taking out beer!
It was no wonder the Iberian Peninsula was declining; it had a lot to do with the conduct of these people.
Entering the house, Leon saw an old man burning firewood. This was a typical, extremely rudimentary country house. Leon also noticed some rotten meat inside, and the putrid smell made him uncomfortable.
Taking out Ashley's photo, Leon walked over and asked, "Hello, excuse me. Have you seen this girl? If you can tell me, I will pay you a reward. Thank you."
Leon knew the benefits of money well; using money to pave the way often achieved excellent results.
However, the old man spoke awkwardly, "Get out, you despicable outsider! What are you doing in my house?"
"Alright, I apologize, I'll leave right away." Leon put away the photo and prepared to exit, but then heard a whooshing sound behind him and immediately performed a Sloppy Roll to dodge the whistling air.
Turning around, he saw the old man walking toward him holding an axe, making a movement that suggested he was unprepared to stop.
"Stop right there, old man, or I'll shoot! If I fire this gun, you might die!" Leon threatened.
Old Man Li showed no fear whatsoever, raising the axe and walking forward step by step. His scarlet eyes made him look as if he were being controlled.
Left with no choice, Leon had to open fire, killing the old man.
Outside the door, a shout was heard, along with sounds of struggling. Following that was the noise of a car being smashed and sent flying, which quickly faded into silence.
Leon wanted to go out, but found the door blocked. He had to look for another way to leave. Flames also began to burn outside; it seemed someone had started setting the house on fire.
Meanwhile, Eddie Cai continued dissecting the parasites on the mountaintop but didn't make many new discoveries. He only confirmed that the vitality of these parasites was incredibly tenacious; they could only be destroyed by fire.
The magnetic field twisted, a strong flash of light passed, and the parasites screamed as they were reduced to ashes.
Lisa stretched out her delicate hand and directly used sonic waves to control the three villagers who had come to ambush them. She sniffed her beautiful nose and said, "Hubby, I think I've eaten these things before. But maybe not. These bugs smell terrible, I don't like them."
Lisa's words surprised Eddie Cai. Had the people from Umbrella ever had contact with the Church of Light?
"If you eat this stuff, you'll be controlled. It's not good, so don't eat it," Eddie Cai shook his head, disagreeing.
Lisa smiled proudly. "I can absorb anything. This is the ability I gained after getting the T-Phobos Virus. I haven't told anyone else; you are the second person to know."
"The first one was Jessica, right!" Eddie Cai laughed.
"Mhm, she is the person I trust the most, and now you are too." Lisa smiled, her beautiful eyes filled with laughter.
"Even if you can absorb them, these Subordinate Plaga aren't suitable for you. If you want to absorb something, absorb a Dominant species Plaga, but it needs optimization and cultivation. Are you sure you'll be okay? I don't want anything to happen to you. You know, I've never experimented on you precisely because I don't want you hurt, and there's no need to." Eddie Cai said earnestly.
Lisa gently stroked Eddie Cai's cheek. "I know. I told you because I trust you. These things aren't scary; it's just that ordinary human bodies are too weak, which is why they get parasitized. I am willing to help you with anything; this is just a minor matter."
Eddie Cai's expression became serious. "I know. My requirement for you is very simple: stay healthy and mentally clear while staying by my side, acting as my bodyguard for life."
Lisa smiled brightly. "Of course. I don't want to go back to that confused, muddled life I had before. My current life is great, and I am very satisfied."
After their conversation, Eddie Cai felt a surge of surprise regarding Lisa's physique. He had been curious before, realizing now that the strengthened area was absorption and utilization.
Lisa had previously fused with a large number of viruses and still maintained her human form, even having devoured the highly parasitic Alpha Parasite.
T-Phobos becomes stronger when faced with stronger opponents, so reinforcing this type of ability was not a problem; he just hadn't considered this angle before.
Returning to the country road, Eddie Cai spotted Leon fighting several villagers armed with farming tools.
When these villagers were hit by bullets, they showed no expression of pain, instead continuing to roar and fight.
"Did you find anything?" Eddie Cai asked.
Leon shook his head. "No. The villagers here are very strange, acting as if they are infected with a virus, but they don't show the symptoms of a viral infection. I have truly never seen anything this bizarre."
"Didn't you go call for backup? Where is your backup?" Eddie Cai asked, knowing the answer.
"They seem to have been captured. Damn it, the road back is also cut off. We have no choice but to keep moving forward. It's very suspicious that these people dared to attack local police," Leon analyzed.
The original suspension bridge had been damaged, and in the ravine below the bridge, among the wreckage of other vehicles, lay another burning police car.
Continuing forward, Eddie Cai discovered that landmines had been laid here, complete with infrared detonators!
Leon knelt down and inspected the ground for a moment. "This is a Navy SEALS deployment method. How do they know this? Only people who have been part of the assault team would have the chance to learn this setup."
"So you mean there's a traitor here? Or a former Navy SEAL member? That's interesting. It looks like the report you write when you get back will need a very long section," Eddie Cai joked.
Chapter 496: Leon S Kennedy is Here, Run!
The three continued forward. Villagers still sporadically rushed out to riot, throwing axes and sickles. The weapons they used were quite ancient, mostly just farming tools.
After walking about five kilometers, they found a small wooden cabin. Inside, a middle-aged man was waiting, holding an axe, lying in wait for prey.
Eddie Cai directly shot the man's head off. Again, there was no sign of the parasite bursting out, suggesting that the residents here had not yet entered the final maturation stage.
On a wooden plank wall nearby, a corpse was pinned to the wall with a pitchfork, its face completely unrecognizable. Moreover, this height suggested that only a giant could have done it; an ordinary person couldn't reach it.
"Did you notice anything about this corpse?" Eddie Cai asked thoughtfully.
"There is a strong individual hiding here. Among them, there must be a very powerful presence. We need to be extra careful!" Leon nodded.
"Since that's the case, we should split up. I'll go ahead first; you have a beautiful woman protecting you anyway." Eddie Cai said before leaving.
After Eddie Cai left, a strange woman appeared behind Leon. "Don't be afraid, I will protect you."
Leon felt uneasy hearing that, but could do nothing about it. "Be careful; caution is the parent of safety. Let's go."
As Eddie Cai crossed the village gate, he used his magnetic field distortion ability to arrive in the center of the village. In the village square, a headless corpse was hanging on a grappling hook, with burning firewood underneath. It appeared to be one of the local Kingdom Agents.
These villagers were truly brutal, daring to attack a civil servant like this. Were they really not afraid of death?
The villagers were still carrying out their daily farming tasks, but in the entire massive village, not a single teenager or child could be seen. There were only young and middle-aged adults, and not even any elderly people.
