Chapter 16 - Chapter 16

The Rainy Evening

In a small town lived a boy named Mehedi. He had a very simple life. In the morning, he went to college, and in the evening, he worked at a bookstore. His father had passed away long ago, so all the responsibility of the family was on him and his mother.

Mehedi had a dream — one day, he wanted to build a big library where poor children could read books for free.

But dreaming is easy; fulfilling dreams is difficult.

One rainy evening, while returning home after closing the bookstore, Mehedi saw an old man sitting at a bus stop by the roadside. The man was trembling in the cold rain. He wore a torn shawl and carried an old bag.

Mehedi walked up to him and asked,

"Uncle, are you okay?"

The old man smiled softly and replied,

"I'm fine, son. Just a little tired."

Mehedi realized the man had not eaten anything. He offered him the last piece of bread and tea that he had bought for himself.

The old man looked surprised.

"What about you? Won't you eat?"

Mehedi smiled and said,

"I'll eat later."

They talked for a long time that evening. The old man told him that he had once been a schoolteacher, but after losing his family, he had become completely alone.

Before leaving, the old man asked,

"What is your biggest dream?"

Mehedi felt a little shy and replied,

"I want to build a library."

The old man only smiled and walked away.

Several months passed.

One day, a man came to the bookstore and handed Mehedi a letter along with a key.

The letter said:

"Dear Mehedi,

That rainy night, you gave me food and respect. Nowadays, people may give money, but very few help others from the heart.

I have left my small old house in the city in your name. Build your dream library there.

— The old teacher"

Mehedi's hands trembled as he read the letter.

He rushed to the address. It was a small old house filled with countless books.

Tears filled his eyes.

Within a few months, the place turned into a small library called "Dream House Library."

Every day, poor children came there to read books, laugh, share stories, and dream of a better future.

On the wall of the library, there was a line written:

"A small act of kindness can sometimes change someone's entire life."
