Chapter 70 - Episode 20: The Sacrifice

The evening was heavy with tension.

Rani and Meera had spent the day facing whispers, glares, and threats. Yet inside the apartment, silence reigned—but it was tense, almost suffocating.

Then came a sharp knock at the door.

"…It's them," Rani whispered, voice trembling.

Meera's jaw tightened. "…Stay calm. We face this together."

A shocking confrontation

When the door opened, it wasn't just neighbors—it was Rani's uncle, a man she feared since childhood.

"You're destroying her life," he growled. "Leave her, or you'll regret it."

Rani froze. "…I… I won't leave her."

Meera stepped in front of Rani. "…She chooses me. You have no right."

The uncle's eyes flared. "…Then I'll make sure the world forces her to."

Emotional sacrifice

Rani's heart raced. "…What do we do?"

Meera cupped her face. "…I'll handle this. Whatever comes, I won't let them hurt you."

Tears rolled down Rani's cheeks. "…But… what if they take me away?"

Meera held her tightly. "…Then I fight for you. I fight with everything I have."

In that moment, Rani realized: true courage isn't never being afraid—it's choosing love despite fear.

A heartbreaking moment

The uncle shoved past Meera and reached for Rani.

Meera whispered urgently: "…Rani, hide the memories. Keep a part of us safe. Even if they take you, our love survives."

Rani shook her head. "…I don't want to hide. I don't want to lose you."

Meera smiled through tears. "…Then we don't. Not fully. Some part of us always remains. That's the real strength."

The uncle hesitated, unable to comprehend the unbreakable bond between them.

Emotional climax

That night, after the confrontation, Rani and Meera sat together, trembling but alive.

"…We survived today," Rani whispered. "…But at what cost?"

Meera kissed her forehead. "…At the cost of fear. At the cost of silence. We are alive, and we are together. That's everything."

Rani leaned into her, finally feeling the warmth of courage born from love.

Foreshadowing

Outside, society continued its judgment. Family threats remained.

But Rani and Meera had learned a powerful truth:

Love may be tested, society may attack, but hearts that choose each other freely cannot be broken.
