Hazel completely ignored Holly's scream as she stood at the foot of the stairs. Her curiosity piqued and she slowly looked inside the paper bag.
She was tempted to bring out the item, but Sophie's footsteps behind her stopped her.
"I've gotten rid of her, Mrs. Avril. I'm sorry for failing to do that earlier."
"Is that a regular thing?"
"Not that I know of. Miss Holly is usually very sweet. I don't know what came over her today."
Hazel frowned. The pathetic stepsister is clever enough to fool everyone. What an annoying cliché.
Sophie finally took notice of Hazel's red cheeks and her eyes went wide. "Mrs. Avril... Your face!"
She traced a finger across the mark.
"I'll get you some ointment!" Sophie hurriedly left.
Hazel took a deep breath, quickly taking the opportunity to pull out the item from the paper bag.
Her brows furrowed even more as she held a bottle containing drugs.
Why would Holly deliver these to her?! What was this drug?!
Sophie's approaching footsteps startled Hazel and she hurriedly placed the bottle back into the paper bag.
Whatever these were, she'll figure them out later.
