Since the last two days, Raiden had been refining his strength, and now he was back at peak condition. He had also mastered his B-rank jutsu, Thunder Dragon.
With both offense and defense, along with his reflexes, speed, and solid swordsmanship, he now qualified as a proper mid-level jonin in combat — and that was without using his time ability. If he used that, he could even take down opponents stronger than himself.
As for raising his combat power further, it would only happen after he mastered the A-rank Chidori and increased his chakra capacity. But that would take time. After all, even though he was a genius, he couldn't master such a technique in one or two days — not to mention using it effectively in real combat.
Today was the last day of his rest period. Tomorrow he would head out on another mission, so he needed to meet his new teammates. Captain Yamanaka had already announced that they would gather at the training field in the afternoon. Because of that, Raiden didn't train today; he only adjusted his condition.
The Konoha camp was still tense. After all, they were near enemy territory. Ninjas guarded the entire camp, and many were returning from patrol missions or other assignments.
When afternoon came, Raiden tidied his clothes and headed toward the training ground. He arrived at the meeting location, but no one else was there yet, so he waited under the shade of a tree.
Twenty minutes later, two people approached — one jonin and one chunin.
Raiden recognized the jonin immediately. After all, jonin were not cabbages; they were the true fighting force of the village. Even in this camp, there were only twenty-three jonin. That might sound small, but it was already a lot — many smaller villages didn't have that number in their entire force.
As for the other chunin, he didn't recognize him.
They spotted Raiden and walked toward him.
Raiden stepped forward.
"Hello, Murata-senpai."
He then nodded to the other ninja. "Hello."
Murata patted Raiden's shoulder.
"Heh, Raiden. I heard you and your leader were injured. But looking at you now, you seem fine."
Raiden forced a smile.
"Yes, I recovered quickly… but Captain and Suna are still injured. I went to see them. Captain is somewhat better, but Suna might be transferred back to the village."
Murata sighed.
"I don't know whether to call it good luck or bad luck that you recovered first."
Raiden smiled awkwardly and changed the subject.
"Murata-senpai, won't you introduce him to me?"
Murata nodded.
"This is Sora, a special jonin specializing in barrier techniques."
Sora smiled. He looked about twenty, with an honest expression.
"Raiden-kun, nice to meet you. Please take care of me in the future."
Raiden returned the smile.
"You too. Please look out for me."
They began discussing the frontline situation. While they were talking, they noticed their Yamanaka team leader approaching with four others.
As they got closer, Raiden and the others stepped forward.
"It seems you've already met," the Yamanaka leader said. "Let's introduce ourselves again and share our abilities so we can coordinate our mission."
"I'll go first. I'm Koro Yamanaka. I use Mind Transfer Jutsu. I'm responsible for intelligence gathering and tracking."
A jonin beside him stepped forward.
"I'm Kaser, a jonin specializing in Water Style."
The remaining two introduced themselves — one a special jonin specializing in barrier techniques, the other a chunin focused on Wind Style.
Then it was Murata's team.
"I'm Murata, jonin, Water Style specialist."
"I'm Sora, special jonin. Barrier sealing and Water Style."
Finally, it was Raiden's turn. Everyone looked at him.
"I'm Raiden, chunin," he said calmly. "I specialize in swordsmanship, Water and Lightning Style. I'm proficient in Body Flicker Technique, and I'm also skilled in sensing chakra and surroundings."
For a moment, everyone was speechless.
Most jonin specialized in only one nature, yet Raiden — a chunin — was proficient in two, used sword techniques, and was also a rare sensing ninja outside the Hyuga clan.
After everyone introduced themself Koro nodded and said about mission objective
"Our mission objective: we will set up a sealing barrier and prevent from enemy teams to lauch ambush to the main camp and caught us offgurd, Be ready tomorrow at 6 AM at the camp entrance.
And This is an A-rank mission."
"Dismissed."
After chatting briefly, everyone returned to their respective camps.
