Chapter 10 - Chapter 10 Study Or Distraction

Jay's POV

"Today we are actually going to study."

David said it like a warning.

Felix immediately replied, "No, we are not."

Ci.n sat down properly with all his books. "We are. Please. Exams are not a joke."

Calix nodded. "For once, listen to him."

Drew stretched. "I'll try."

Mayo: "I came for food."

Eman from the kitchen: "Food is ready later. Study first."

Denzel stood near the table. "Sit."

We all sat.

At Ci.n's condo again.

Same place.

Same chaos.

Different intention.

Hopefully.

---

I opened my book.

Actually opened it.

Not pretending this time.

"Okay," I said, "who is teaching this chapter?"

Ci.n instantly raised his hand like a kid. "Me."

Felix whispered, "Of course."

David smirked. "Let him. He's the topper."

Ci.n ignored them and started explaining.

And honestly?

He was good.

Like… really good.

Even I understood things faster.

"See?" he said proudly. "Easy."

Felix blinked. "Why didn't teachers explain like this?"

David: "Because you don't listen."

---

I was actually focused.

For once.

Until—

"Jay."

I didn't look up. "No."

Keifer chuckled. "I didn't even say anything."

"You were going to distract me."

"I still can."

I finally looked at him. "Don't."

He leaned closer. "Make me."

I kicked his leg under the table.

"Focus."

"You first."

Why is he like this during study time.

---

Time skip – 1 hour later

We studied.

Properly.

Like actual students.

Ci.n was explaining.

Calix was correcting.

David was checking answers.

Drew was half listening.

Felix was confused.

Mayo was eating quietly.

Eman kept bringing snacks.

Denzel made sure no one got too distracted.

And me?

I was doing good.

Actually good.

I solved questions.

Answered things.

Even corrected Felix once.

"Wow," he said. "Jay is serious."

"Shut up," I said.

But I was smiling.

---

Break time.

Finally.

I leaned back. "My brain is dead."

Felix: "Same."

David: "We studied for one hour."

Felix: "That's enough."

Ci.n clapped. "No, not enough."

Calix: "Another session."

Groans.

Everywhere.

---

I stood up. "I'm getting water."

Eman pointed. "Kitchen."

I walked in.

Quiet again.

Finally.

I poured water, taking a deep breath.

"You always come here for breaks."

I didn't turn.

"…You always follow me."

Keifer.

Of course.

---

Keifer's POV

She didn't even look surprised.

Just… used to it.

"I wasn't following," I said.

"Liar."

"Okay, maybe a little."

She smiled slightly.

Better.

She's relaxed today.

Less stressed.

I like this version of her.

"You're doing well," I said.

"Yeah?"

"Yeah."

She turned toward me. "You too."

"I always do."

She rolled her eyes. "Again with that."

"Confidence."

"Overconfidence."

"Same thing."

---

She stepped closer to the counter.

I stepped closer too.

Naturally.

Like always.

Now we were standing close again.

Not planned.

But not avoided either.

"You're not distracting me today," she said.

"Should I?"

She looked at me.

"…No."

"Too late."

I leaned in slightly.

She didn't move.

That's my answer.

---

Jay's POV

Why does this keep happening?

We come here to study.

And then—

This.

Him.

Close.

Too close.

"You're impossible," I whispered.

"And you like that."

I didn't deny it.

That's new.

He noticed.

Of course he did.

His hand rested lightly on the counter beside me.

Not touching.

But close enough.

"You're not running away today," he said.

"I'm tired of running."

That came out before I could stop it.

His expression changed slightly.

Softer.

"Good," he said.

---

For a second—

No jokes.

No teasing.

Just quiet.

Then—

He leaned in.

Slowly.

And kissed me.

---

This time it felt…

Easy.

Not rushed.

Not confusing.

Just… right.

I held onto his sleeve lightly.

Not thinking.

Just feeling.

When we pulled back, I stayed close.

"…We came here to study," I said softly.

"We did."

"This is not studying."

"Break time."

I laughed a little.

"Idiot."

---

Keifer's POV

She's smiling.

That's enough.

I tapped her head lightly. "Come on. Back to studying."

She blinked. "You're saying that?"

"Shocking, I know."

"Very."

We walked back together.

---

Jay's POV

Felix immediately looked at us. "Again?"

David smirked. "Kitchen meetings."

Calix: "Very productive, I'm sure."

Ci.n: "Did you understand the chapter?"

I sat down quickly. "Yes."

Felix: "Liar."

Mayo: "Definitely liar."

Eman: "Eat first."

Denzel: "Then study."

Chaos again.

---

We started again.

Another chapter.

More questions.

More explaining.

More arguments.

But this time—

It worked.

We were actually preparing.

Together.

---

Later, as I was writing something, I felt a light nudge.

Keifer.

"Hmm?" I said.

"After exams," he whispered, "trip."

I smiled.

"Yeah."

"Mountains."

"Finally."

"No stress."

"Hopefully."

He looked at me.

"There will be something."

"Why do you say that?"

"I don't know."

For a second—

That feeling came back.

Something waiting.

Something not right.

But then—

Felix shouted, "I GOT ONE ANSWER RIGHT."

And everything broke again.

---

Keifer's POV

I ignored that feeling.

For now.

Because right now—

She's here.

Smiling.

Studying.

And holding my hand under the table again.

Hidden.

But real
