Jay's pov
For the first time in a long while, I woke up without chaos.
No shouting.
No Felix screaming.
No Ci.n jumping around.
Just… silence.
It took me a few seconds to realize where I was.
Then I felt it.
His arm around me.
Warm. Firm. Like it belonged there.
I didn't move.
I just stayed like that, staring at the ceiling, letting the moment sink in slowly instead of rushing out of it like I usually would. His breathing was steady, calm, like he was still deep asleep. I turned my head slightly and looked at him.
He looked… peaceful.
Too peaceful for someone who is usually so controlled.
I don't know why, but instead of moving away, I shifted a little closer.
"Sleep…" I whispered softly, my voice barely there, "don't wake up yet."
He didn't respond.
Of course he didn't.
He was asleep.
I exhaled slowly and closed my eyes again, resting my head properly this time, letting myself stay there without questioning it.
No overthinking.
No running.
Just…
Staying.
And somewhere between that calm and his warmth, I fell asleep again.
When I woke up again, the light was brighter.
Way brighter.
I groaned softly, turning slightly.
"Jay."
My eyes opened instantly.
He was awake.
And looking at me.
"How long were you awake?" I asked, my voice still sleepy.
"Long enough," he said, a slight smirk forming on his face.
I narrowed my eyes. "Creepy."
"You didn't run."
"What?"
"You're still here," he said, watching me carefully, "I thought you'd disappear by morning."
I pushed his shoulder lightly. "I don't run that much."
"You do."
"Not today."
That made him pause for a second.
Just a second.
Then he leaned slightly closer.
"That's new."
I looked at him.
"…Maybe I'm learning."
He didn't reply.
But his expression changed.
Softer.
Before I could think more about it, he reached out and tucked a loose strand of my hair behind my ear, his fingers brushing my skin lightly, sending a strange warmth through me.
"You look different in the morning," he said quietly.
"How?"
"Less guarded."
I didn't answer that.
Because he was right.
The silence stretched between us again, but it wasn't awkward. It was heavy in a way that made my heart beat slightly faster without any reason.
Then he leaned in.
It wasn't rushed.
Not sudden.
Just slow.
And when his lips touched mine, it felt… softer than before.
Not intense.
Not teasing.
Just…
Real.
I responded without thinking, my hand lightly gripping his shirt, pulling him just a little closer before he pulled back.
"Good morning," he said.
I looked at him.
"…You're annoying."
He smiled.
But then—
Something shifted.
The moment ended.
And reality came back.
I looked away slightly, sitting up slowly, pulling the blanket around me.
"What happened?" he asked.
"Nothing."
He didn't believe it.
Of course he didn't.
I sighed.
"…What if Aries knows?"
There it was.
He sat up too, calmer than I expected.
"He doesn't."
"You don't know that."
"I do."
"How?"
"Because if he did, he wouldn't stay quiet."
That made sense.
But still—
"It just feels…" I paused, trying to find the right word, "different."
"In daylight?" he asked.
I looked at him.
"…Yeah."
He didn't laugh.
Didn't tease.
Instead, he said quietly,
"Nothing happened that you didn't choose."
That line—
It stayed.
I looked at him again.
He wasn't forcing anything.
Wasn't rushing me.
Just… steady.
And somehow, that calmed me more than anything else.
Before I could say anything, his phone suddenly rang.
I froze.
He picked it up.
Looked at the screen.
Then at me.
"Aries."
"Don't pick it up," I said immediately.
He raised an eyebrow.
"Why?"
"Because—just don't."
He smirked slightly.
And answered.
"Hello?"
I sat there, completely still, trying to listen without looking obvious.
"Yeah," he said casually, "she's here."
MY HEART STOPPED.
Then suddenly—
"AHHHHHHHHH—"
I snapped my head towards him.
WHAT WAS THAT?
He continued like nothing happened.
"Yeah, just woke up."
I stared at him in disbelief.
"Where?" Aries asked from the other side, his voice faint but clear.
"At home," Keifer replied.
"Sounds weird there."
"Yeah, I screamed."
I slapped his arm silently.
He ignored me.
"Why did you scream?" Aries asked.
"I stubbed my toe."
I almost laughed.
Almost.
"…You're weird," Aries said.
"Thanks."
"Put Jay on call."
I froze.
Keifer looked at me.
Held out the phone.
I took a breath.
"Hello?"
"Jay," Aries said, "you're fine?"
"Yes."
"Why do you sound weird?"
"I just woke up."
Silence.
"…Okay," he said finally, "I'll call later."
The call ended.
I dropped the phone on the bed.
"That was not funny," I said.
"It was a little funny."
"No, it wasn't."
"You didn't laugh, but you wanted to."
I rolled my eyes.
But didn't deny it.
"Come," he said, standing up, "you need coffee."
"I need peace."
"You're not getting that."
I stepped out after a few minutes, still in nothing, hair messy, mind still somewhere between calm and chaos. The house felt quiet again, but this time it didn't feel strange. It felt… ours.
"Cold?" he asked.
"A little."
Without saying anything, he walked to the chair, picked up his hoodie, and handed it to me.
I looked at it.
Then at him.
"…Thanks."
"Wear it."
"I was going to."
I slipped it on, and it was obviously too big, the sleeves covering half my hands, the fabric still carrying his warmth.
"You look better like this," he said.
"Stop observing me."
"No."
We sat at the table, simple breakfast, nothing fancy, but it felt different. No chaos. No shouting. Just us.
"You're quiet again," he said.
"I'm thinking."
"Dangerous."
"Very."
He smirked slightly, sipping his coffee.
For a moment, everything felt normal.
Too normal.
Which is probably why—
It happened.
We decided to step out for some fresh air.
Bad idea.
The road outside was slightly wet, and I was walking ahead when suddenly—
"Jay—"
I turned.
Too late.
His foot slipped slightly on the wet surface while stepping down.
"Keifer!"
He lost balance for a second, trying to steady himself, but ended up hitting his arm hard against the edge.
My heart dropped.
"Are you okay?" I rushed to him.
"I'm fine," he said immediately.
"You're not fine."
"I said I'm fine."
"You're bleeding."
That made him pause.
"…Okay, maybe not fine."
I didn't wait.
"Get up," I said, helping him, "we're going to the hospital."
"Jay, it's not that serious—"
"I said we're going."
He looked at me.
Then nodded.
Because this time—
I wasn't asking.
