Chapter 154 - Have their own calculations

"Official-level conjuration spell—Group Sleep: Puts creatures within a 2500 square meter area to sleep (sleep time depends on the creature's soul level).

Note: This spell is a group version of "Slumber," significantly reducing the power of a single body while expanding its coverage.

It is not suitable for combat at the same level, as it was invented for cleaning up enemies below official level.

If an apprentice-level or lower-level professional is caught in the spell, they'll sleep for months. For ordinary people, there's a 90% chance they'll die from starvation during an unawakenable sleep.

Punk's aim is to eliminate the majority of people with weak vitality. With so many "materials" available, he only needs the highest quality life force to recover from his injuries.

Without suspense, after the transparent ball released by Punk silently exploded over the refugee group, glittering light, like falling snowflakes, landed on each refugee. The refugees were momentarily shocked, but then, no matter how aggressive or brave they were, the large men or young warriors all collapsed, groggy.

Most of them had their brains overwhelmed by the spell, leaving only a dozen survivors. A large number of corpses lay near the city gate, and the previously noisy gate fell into silence.

"Not bad, looks like there are some strong individuals among these thin-faced people!" Punk nodded in satisfaction.

He then manipulated his magical hand to gather the few survivors and bring them closer before beginning to chant a vitality-draining spell.

"Even if they have sins, they should not be tortured before death. This is the basic respect for an enemy," Kang Kai commented, looking at the survivors with a mix of emotion.

"Respect? What is that, is it edible?" Punk turned to Kang Kai, a smile curling on his lips.

Although he wasn't unprepared to deal with the ranger, he was not afraid of him either. Even though he was a little closer to Kang Kai now, his master-level robe had already been charged enough to use "Any Door" again.

Kang Kai glared at Punk, but remained silent. The chaos in Dolez City needed resolution, and Bahanger's injury needed attention, so a confrontation with Punk was not ideal.

Ignoring Kang Kai, Punk continued his spell on the pile of survivors.

"Official-level conjuration spell—Life Siphon: Absorbs the vitality of other creatures for personal use."

An emerald-green energy band appeared in Punk's hand, the other end of which linked to the survivors. Vitality poured into Punk's body through the windless band.

As life force was drained, the survivors' bodies began to dissolve like candles in a flame, turning into viscous solutions of varying colors.

Meanwhile, Punk's internal organs regrew within seconds, restoring his vitality.

"Okay, I'm recovered now. Shall we head to Gorat?" Punk said, stretching his now healed body.

Bahanger, impatient, glanced at the destroyed lord's castle in the distance. Understanding the explosive power of the Tishachar cult's followers, he quickly deduced that the prominent tofu-shaped castle had likely been blown up, and he couldn't wait to know Gorat's fate.

Gorat was just an ordinary person, so Punk assumed he was likely dead. But to understand the current situation in Dolez, he still chose to check the guy's whereabouts.

It was no challenge.

Punk quickly predicted Gorat's position, and when the information was revealed, Punk was surprised.

He hadn't expected Gorat to survive the chaos, but his current location was rather amusing.

Hutt, having been the eldest son of a noble family and later the patriarch of the Victoria's Secret family, had never endured such suffering. He'd been served and respected all his life, but now, in his later years, he had finally experienced life as a refugee.

Hutt's decision was a good one—hiding among the refugees allowed Gorat to escape. Those who had remained in the castle and refused to leave were all dead.

Though Gorat seemed frightened by the bloodshed and corpses, and let Hutt take control, the experience was undoubtedly traumatic for him.

Currently dressed in rags, with mud on his face, Hutt was squeezed among the dirty refugees, drifting with the flow, until—

"Hutt, how did you end up like this?" Bahanger, standing on a high rooftop, exclaimed in surprise.

Punk was equally speechless.

Didn't Hutt stay behind to deal with the followers of the Tishachar church? Punk still remembered how this old fool had promised to capture a batch of high-quality slaves, but now he was caught in this embarrassing situation.

As the refugees around Hutt remained stunned, Punk reached out and effortlessly fished both Hutt and Gorat out from the crowd.

"My Lord Bahanger, those... those untouchables have rebelled. If they hadn't helped the Tishachar cult rebel and ignore the greater good, the righteous city guard would have completed their tasks under the wise leadership of the noble sages," Hutt defended, wiping his nose and shedding fake tears.

His words were essentially blaming the refugees—saying it was their fault and he had no involvement.

Punk silently thought:

I almost believed that!

No one believed Hutt's story, but under the circumstances, it aligned perfectly with the narrative that suited Dolez City's current state.

Kang Kai, of course, knew Hutt was lying, but the support of the nobles was crucial for quelling the turmoil. Moreover, the refugees had indeed committed actions that could be considered "crimes" under Obai's doctrine.

So, Kang Kai hesitated.

Meanwhile, the chaos in Dolez City continued, with looting refugees, vengeful nobles, and the remnants of the Tishachar church sowing disorder.

Little did they know, their fates were already in Kang Kai's hands.

Fortunately—and unfortunately—Punk decided to stand up for them, hoping that Dolez City would remain in chaos. As long as the city wasn't on the right track, Kang Kai wouldn't be able to leave easily.

"I believe resettling these refugees could give this ranger quite a headache," Punk thought.

But it seemed there was no need for him to speak.

A second group had already arrived on the scene.
