The tension in the cramped living room was thick enough to suffocate. Evelyn turned her head away, refusing to meet the predatory gaze of the man pinning her to the wall.

"Let go!" She wrenched herself free and flung the door open. "Get out of my house!"
"Your house?" He kicked the door shut with a violent thud, his eyes flashing with a dangerous light. "You're a divorcee living in a hole, yet you still have the gall to act high and mighty? I haven't held you legally responsible for what you did to Erica, that's my kindness to you. But hear this: if you touch her again, I will personally see you erased from this industry."
