Killian watched as Susanna pressed Silas's thumb against the fingerprint scanner, and the door to the apartment clicked open.
Seeing that she knew exactly which finger unlocked the door, Killian stopped doubting her identity. Handing the unconscious Silas over to her, he sighed, "Take good care of him, I'm heading out!" Man, I'm exhausted!
Susanna squeezed out a strained smile. "Alright... I will." If it weren't for the powerful man covering her mother's astronomical medical bills, and threatening to pull the plug on her treatment if she failed, she wouldn't have stepped foot near Silas Vane even if her life depended on it.
She felt a heavy knot in her chest. Why is that man forcing me to get so close to Silas anyway?
Dragging Silas into the residence, she kicked the door shut with her heel and maneuvered him toward the master bedroom.
