Kael's POV
"Sir, someone finally bonded with the Celestial beast. It's rumored to be an F ranker."
Now that was enough to get me hooked. It wasn't everyday news like this found it's way to the hunters world.
"Which guild is she in?" I assumed it was a girl as it had never been recorded that a Celestial bonded with a male.
"That's the issue this time sir. It was a male this time"
More shocking news.
"Which guild?"
"Stoner guild. One of our subsidiary guilds. Vanessa LaRoy is in charge of it"
The mention of her name was enough to make me lose my piqued interest. I had plans of removing her soon enough. Maybe she thought of using him as her last chance.
"Keep an eye on them. Vanessa most especially"
"Yes sir"
I glanced around the gate I had just cleared. I was the only one who had entered here. And yet, it seemed like nothing was stunning anymore.
'Phoenix… Burn'
A bright scarlet red color glowed as my bonded beast appeared and burnt down all the carcasses around.
And with that done, this dungeon was bound to go down in a few minutes. I calmly walked out of the gate, hair still as sleek as when I had walked out of my condo this morning, no wrinkles on my suit and my hands tucked in my pocket.
I entered my car and zoomed off. Only one destination in mind; The main house.
**** ****
"Welcome home young master"
One of the servants working in my parents home walked out and took my bag as she slightly bowed. I was one of the few who didn't fancy the extravagant welcome but when one comes from the family I come from and commands the kind of my power I did, you just learn to go with the flow as certain things pop up.
"Where are they?" I ask her. Hinting at my parents. Most especially my worrisome mother.
"They are in the sitting room awaiting your arrival"
I nodded slightly as I moved on before her voice interrupted me once more.
"And Miss Vanessa is here as well. Lady Vixar extended an invitation to her"
Ahhh. Now this was why I was skeptical on returning. My dearest mother. Always playing the matchmaker. But not Vanessa. Anyone but the scheming lizard of course.
I didn't reply to the last statement as I walked in. I followed the back of the house in order to avoid the perfunctory greetings and calmly made my way to my room.
A quick cold shower and a few snacks were the only thing that could keep me high these days. Other than that, everything else seemed to pass by in a blur.
I stood at the balcony and looked outside. This was an upper class area so the silence was expected. Well except the golf area where the noble men often helped themselves by playing one or two times a week.
My father had dragged me to play once. It might have made my day worse. I hated people. I hated them beside me. I hated the way they talked, walked and most of all, I hated when they existed in my space.
"Kael, could you come down for a minute please?"
My mothers voice echoed across the house and the hate intensified even more. Hating people was one thing, having them shoved in your face by the one person you can't deny is another.
I threw on some casual clothes and sweat pants and made my way down stairs. I could feel the stares of the servants as they practically drooled. I was already accustomed to it. My rank aided in it as well. I didn't have to do much to maintain it.
"There you are Son. For a moment I was beginning to think you didn't want your mother any longer"
"How are you doing Mother?" I bent down and gave a peck on her forehead as I nodded at my father in a show of respect to which he responded.
"Now now, what did I tell you about the way you address me?"
I cringed internally as I opened my mouth.
"How are you doing Mummy?" I gagged mentally as I sat down beside her. I and my father knew, we could put up any farce we wanted to the outside world, but within, my mother was the actual ruler of the household.
Part of it would be because she was an authoritarian and the other was the fact that my father was a henpecked husband and wouldn't dare deviate from his wife's rules.
So basically, to the outside world, Karl Vixar is the head of the family. The ruler and harbinger of it's success. But behind closed doors, he's his wife's lackey.
I refused to bend to the wills of a living person. Not now and never will I.
"Son. Look who came to visit us"
My mum dragged me and made me stand close to Vanessa who seemed to be enjoying whatever was going on.
"Is there anything you want from me mother?"
I needed to leave this place. I had my own condo. I loved my space. But it seemed this particular information seemed to never stay in the mind of my Mother Dearest.
"Nothing much. Oh, Vanessa was about leaving. Why don't you take her out?"
Fine then. Just enough time to do my stuff.
"Follow me" Hands tucked in my pocket and not bothering to wait for her response, I walked out in strides I was sure she couldn't keep up to.
I walked up to my car and entered while she made moves to sit beside me.
"Pardon me Miss. You are to sit in front. Master doesn't allow people to sit beside him"
That right there, is the reason why my driver was my highest paid employee. He understood I wasn't a people person. So he stuck to it.
"Oh. Okay then"
Vanessa moved to the passenger seat and sat down while looking at me occasionally through the rear view mirror but I couldn't give a damn about it.
"I heard someone finally bonded with the Celestial?" I asked as if I didn't know of her plan's already. And as expected, her eyes went wide in surprise.
"I… I didn't…."
"Move him up to the main guild. Keep him in base level missions till I say so. Make sure he doesn't appear often during missions. After all, even with the Celestial, he is still an F ranker"
"Yes Sir"
"Now kindly get out"
"But Sir…"
My driver seemed to understand the context as he parked at the roadside while motioning for her to leave.
She finally understood how serious I was as she opened the door and got down.
"And one more thing, unless you are appearing on important business which I am sure you can hand over to my secretaries, I see no reason why you should pay a visit to my house"
"It was Lady Vixar that requested for…"
"And I believe you know what to do when it happens again?"
I finally looked at her this time. My face devoid of all emotions. I needed to clip her wings while they were still growing. I wouldn't tolerate rumors or scandals about the two of us.
"Yes Sir"
"Good"
She closed the door and the car zoomed off, leaving her in the dust.
