Chapter 64 - Chapter 64: The Harmonic Supernova

The gray-clad Inquisitor stepped onto the bridge, his presence a literal hole in the world. As he raised the obsidian tuning fork, the ambient hum of the Spire's ancient machinery groaned, the bioluminescent moss on the walls turning gray and brittle.

"Protocol: Event Horizon," I whispered into the Triad link. "Sanyapra, draw his focus. Kaelith, find the beat. Vora... hold me together."

Phase 1: The Frontal Distraction

Sanyapra moved first. He didn't use the Bladesong—that would have been swallowed instantly. Instead, he used pure, kinetic martial arts. He blurred across the bridge, a silver flash of non-magical steel.

The Inquisitor struck the tuning fork. TONG. The invisible wave of "Silence" rippled out. Sanyapra's momentum died instantly as the kinetic energy was leached from his muscles, but he used the last of his inertia to hurl his dagger. The Inquisitor didn't flinch; the dagger hit the Null-field and simply dropped, its "intent" erased.

"Is that all the Machine's pet can do?" the Inquisitor rasped.

Phase 2: The Solar Overload

That was my cue. I stepped out from the Spire's shadow, my Ascendant Biology pulsing at a dangerous rhythm.

"I am no one's pet," I said, my voice vibrating with the 68% evolution.

I didn't hold back. I manually overrode the safety limiters on my core. I reached deep into the Solar Void energy I had "inhaled" from the Great Array. Usually, I funnel this through my wives to stabilize, but this time, I let it build within my own chest.

[CORE TEMPERATURE: 4,500°C]

[SYSTEM WARNING: TOTAL MELTDOWN IMMINENT]

[EVOLUTION SYNC: 69%]

I became a localized sun. The heat was so intense the stone bridge beneath me began to turn to magma. The Null-field scrambled to compensate, the obsidian tuning fork glowing a sickly, vibrating purple as it tried to "eat" the sheer volume of energy I was venting.

Phase 3: The Harmonic Strike

"Now!" Kaelith's voice echoed in my mind.

The Inquisitor struck the fork again to dampen my heat—TONG. In that micro-second of resonance, the field buckled under the pressure of my overload. The "Silence" fractured for 0.01 seconds.

Kaelith, hidden in the fold of my own shadow, lunged. She didn't use a spell. She used a shard of the "Black Light" we had captured during the Solari battle—energy that was already "dead." She jammed the shard directly into the obsidian fork.

The Result: A feedback loop. The Null-energy, unable to process the corrupted Solar light, inverted.

The Aftermath

The explosion wasn't fiery; it was a vacuum implosion. The Inquisitor was thrown backward, his gray rags disintegrating. The obsidian fork shattered into a thousand harmless pebbles.

I collapsed. The 69% evolution held, but my internal pumps were screaming. Vora caught me before my knees hit the cooling magma, her own skin red from the heat I was still radiating.

"You're an idiot," she whispered, her eyes wet with relief. "A 69% cute, glowing, absolute idiot."

[POST-COMBAT STATUS]

Cinder: Stable but "Dimmed." Internal power is at 2%.

The Inquisitor: Unconscious and stripped of his "Null" status.

Oakhaven: The "Silence" has lifted, but the town is spooked.
