Chapter 55 - Busted

The blast went across the whole practice dojo. This stage did not have a protective dome, so all those present had to avoid the blast in some way or another. This is how the Knight learned that, even though one is immune to their own elemental, they are not immune to the same elemental if it is from someone else.

Everyone was scurrying around like rats, all trying to escape while still keeping view of the battle. Everyone present is a knight Bachelor, so they all had no problem keeping up with the fight without falling victim to the stray attacks. If the Knight had not been so focused on battle, it would have noticed the pandemonium around it.

Zoldi summoned her orbs of light to shoot the stray shots, she still had to tuck and roll when the faster ones came. Adriel kept knocking the shots off target with her gauntlet. Poli had this field of pure light, nullifying any attack that came with vicinity of her, it was spectacular, these bullets made of light would burst like fireworks when they touched the field. Some had similar abilities, but no-one had been seriously injured yet.

"Come on, you can't be telling me that you are having problem with my rounds."

She had her tips of her fingers pointing at the Knight, rounds of light elemental bullets kept shooting out, this was the light skill she had earned. Her special skill made it all the more deadly to deal with.

Her special skill enabled her to ricochet anything she used as a projectile, which is what she was doing with these bullets, even worse they moved faster than teleportation. Even though the Knight was invisible, every single time it touched the ring between teleportation's, it would instantly be surrounded in a dome of these bullets.

The Knight would have to use the small shield to deflect some, thus the others having to dodge them. One of her other skills is explosion, she can cumulate energy and send it out as a wave, but it was proportional to how long she waited in-between blasts. She only used them in a pinch, whenever the Knight got too close. Even with her sense of distance distorted using Tyun's skill, she could still identify danger just enough to set the explosion.

All this chaos and destruction, and she still had not used her power. Some of the hits the Knight landed were instantly healed during the explosion, a side effect of the light elemental explosions, healing – something the Knight had learned about.

She still had her sword sheathed, probably waiting until the right time to use it. This was a battle based on skills, not power, unlike those the Knight had gotten used to. Even if it made her afraid of the shots she was shooting, she would just expel them out as normal. It was about time the Knight let loose.

"Do you guys feel that?"

"Yeah, it's like a rushing water, gushing out, it feels like it's trying to push us out."

The Knight's soul began to unwind, spreading out, covering the whole room. The Knight had stopped the soul channelling of the vile armour, so instead of compressing the soul, now it was let loose, like how the Knight had been before the battle with the Enders. This sent a terrifying wave towards all. This is the reckless use of a power, letting it all run rampant.

It was effective when the Knight wanted to make others feel the terror of being in its presence. It had worked, just then the figure before them was revealed to be the menace of existence. All of them felt that they were in the presence of a being far more harrowing than they had bargained. They all wanted to jump in and help Fetching, but their bodies were not responding, they were paralysed.

The feeling of regret washed over them as they all hoped this was just a Knightmare, a sick and twisted one. They all did not wish to watch their friend get slaughtered, tears of powerlessness ran across their faces, covered by the helmet, none could see this mutual loss. They were having the deep hope that they had not asked this terrible thing to come here.

The Knight then walked towards Fetching, she was trying to activate her power but failing to do so. Once the Knight got close enough, it activated on pure instinct. The force of gravity on the Knight kept increasing. The power she had was over the forces of things, as such she just kept piling forces, trying to crush the Knight into a pulp, or at least push it back with as much force as she could control from the world around her.

The debris around her started floating, so did the things around her, even the other knights were starting to float, all these forces were being moved to a single point, the Vile Knight. The Knight had noticed this, thus the more it got pushed down, the more void augmentation it piled on, thus making it look like it was not affected. Gradually the field around

Fetching started to spread, making everything gradually float, if she had taken all forces, then the field around her would be disintegrating everything, but she was only powerful enough to affect only the force of gravity. The Knight did not release any of the void, to nullify this power, that was because it might reveal the void, the Knight was still not sure of how strong concealment is. The Knight was still using it, but just enough for it to look darker, not full out void field.

The Knight got to her, which was harder to do, then knocked her out of the ring. The one regret the Knight had was that she never used her sword, and with her power, it would have been a huge problem.

The Knight had turned its power off, but it only took Fetching's body hitting the walls, for the rest to come to. They were still dazed, Poli had jumped towards Fetching, her sense of responsibility was far more overwhelming than the residual fear of witnessing the visage of terror itself. A minute passed in silence, even the Knight's armour had repaired the dents left by Fetching.

"What did I tell you! This guy is one heck of a sparring partner, the only regret he leaves you with is that we are all still holding back."

"The title should have been Terrifying Knight, cause wow, I can still feel it." Said Dorus.

The enthusiasm of Zoldi had reminded the others that the Knight was on their side. Those who had already fought the Knight knew of the fear, but it had not spiked so high. The Knight could only keep it active for a while; it was harder to maintain because all those around it were stronger. But the Knight's soul had grown more potent, thus the field could be kept up for a minute at a time, when surrounded by stronger foes.

To everyone else though this minute felt like an endless eternity. They weren't even that far of, because even time itself felt this terror, the space itself warped. In a reference frame of time moving normally, the Knight had only used it for a minute, but in respect to the actual flow of time, it could have just as well been an eternity, a relative one.

Adriel was not discouraged in the slightest, at best, Zoldi's words had riled up a fire in her. "I guess it's my turn…"

The whole escapade was interrupted by the sounds of footsteps; the paladin had arrived. She radiated this field of light, probably fuming because of the whole practice session. When the Knight released its soul, it had reached further than the Knight Academy, at the periphery of this dreaded field, people were scared witless, but since the Knight had focused most of it on the ring, no-one had died from heart failure or similar fear induced reactions.

Solace was mad, but it seems her anger was directed towards Adriel, and in the same distorted voice said; "I thought I told you to set an example for the new recruit. You're my second in command, just what kind of example are you setting. I had contained the damage from these fights. I thought I told you to stop holding these after Karen joined."

"My lady, I just wanted to give the new recruit a welcome party, what better way than to get him acquainted with his seniors?"

The paladin looked around and noticed that the Knight was still in the ring, and if it was fighting Adriel, it had defeated all its seniors. "You guys even lost? Well, I had expected as much after I saw that battle with Vice. In any case, this all stops now!"

They cleaned up the ring and soon headed to the forge. They were an hour late, but Adriel and the Knight's armour were still intact, so that saved them time. Adriel just needed minor adjustments. The Knight had gone with them, but there was barely anything to learn from the smiths, so it had just gone to the adventurer's guild.

Things had been put on hold, and since the army will be moving out in a week, the Knight had ample time to spare and take a quest. But before that the Knight had gone back to its quarters, now that Zuri was gone it had to handle its affairs and arrange for the quest permission. It was taking longer because to gain clearance for a quest was harder for a Knight Bachelor.

The Knight had spent a fair amount of time getting things sorted, it had become easier because the knights in the Paladin legion usually took quests, as such the paperwork was easier.

'I can see it. This bunch does seem like the kind for these antics, even quests aren't safe.'

The quests are usually taken by the knight Errant, who go around the world, accomplishing feats of honour and glory. They are sent to support smaller areas like villages, smaller towns, alleviate the soldiers on the front lines, even go dungeon delving. The Knight is a whole rank above them, and yet it had been going around gaining fame over feats of glory.

The Knight knew this because it had just gotten another believer, someone out there was still spreading word about the Knight.

With the official documentation complete, the Knight headed to the assigned room, since this room belonged to it until it left for the woods of Elleria, it took the chair. It was inferior to the throne of bones, but it will serve as a change of pace.

It was resting in the inventory, and resting in the Knight's hand was Ansi's soul. The Knight had fought Romeo, Vice, Avarice, and the knight Bachelors in the Paladin legion, and the cycle needed to be reset. It had only been forty years and yet the Knight's soul was tiring out, even this soul might not be enough nourishment.

The more the Knight fights the more drained its soul tends to become. Right before the Knight could consume her soul, it felt something eerily familia happening in its soul, it felt similar to what Mugaw had done. The Knight reached inside and pulled out the soul causing the ruckus. The soul that the Knight had pulled out was…

The Knight was in the guild.

This was the second guild the Knight had stepped into. The one in Maroon city, Yrik had gone, to accept the quest. The first one was the in the void, filled with monstrosities enough to topple a whole continent.

This one in comparison was just food. The food could fight back harder, like some of them were above level 200. The Knight approached the desk, and behind it was this bright looking face. She was a far cry from the atrocious thing the Knight had had the unfortunate pleasure of calling it the first ever receptionist it had met.

This place was more like a bar, but this stuff must be straight up poison to be able to make these gods drunk. The Knight later found out that the alcohol sold at guilds is made using the power of poison someone had, smelling this might be enough to kill a six-ton animal, a sealed one that is. This is why the security was terribly brutal when it came to those who bought this stuff.

The place was split into two, the bar and the quest section, guards were placed at the intersection, each at level 150 and above. 'So, much work just to get drunk.' The Knight was not one to talk, it literally had a chair with a deadly paralysis ability, just to enjoy a bit of rest bit.

If it did not have the visage power, it would be eternally stuck in the chair. When the Knight got stronger, it barely had an effect, but the Knight did not have a stronger paralysis on hand. 'Maybe I should ask the person with the poison power to help out. What do you think Mugaw?'

"I say just exert yourself until you knock out, there probably isn't many paralyses that could work on you anymore. Also is it not going to be strange for someone to request to make a chair able to paralyse someone operating in the tiers above the gods? Just look around, the power of poison is still having problems affecting those above level 150.

Maybe wait a hundred years until that person has enough power over poison to try affecting you, but by then you'll probably even be worse of a menace. So, just give up on this one boss."

Why are you asking Mugaw and not me?

"It's because… I just thought you would take my slaughter points if I asked. What do you think Whisper?"

Well now I see no need to answer.

Every day that passes the more solid Whispers' character became. The Knight was wondering what would happen if it claimed more of the void. Would it have a fully formed personality by then? This is good, the chattier it gets, the more questions it answers without the corresponding sacrifice.
