Chapter 28 - chapter 28: heart break

I immediately jumped to my feet and ran to her room, pounding on the door.

"Soheon!" I shouted.

No answer.

Without thinking, I tried the handle. It turned. The door opened.

I stepped inside, scanning the room—but she wasn't there. Panic surged through me.

"Soheon!" I called again, my voice shaking. Still nothing.

Then I heard it—a faint sound of running water, and a soft, almost imperceptible sobbing.

My heart clenched. I ran to the bathroom door and knocked.

"Soheon… please, open up!"

No answer.

"I'm coming in if you don't answer me!" I shouted.

I pushed the door open—and my chest tightened as I saw her.

She was in the bathtub, the shower still running over her.

My heart stopped. She was trying to… drown herself.

Without thinking, I shut off the water and pulled her out of the tub. Her clothes were soaked, sticking to her skin. She clung to my neck, crying so hard that I could feel her trembling against me.

The mixture of her tears and water soaked my clothes too, but I didn't care. All I could focus on was her.

I carried her out of the bathroom, her body icy cold in my arms. She kept crying, uncontrollably, and my chest ached like it would split in two.

I sat down on the bed, holding her tightly, trying desperately to warm her up and comfort her—but she just kept crying.

"Soheon… Soheon, stop crying, please," I whispered, my voice shaking. "He isn't worth you doing this to yourself. What if you catch a cold? Do you think he would even care?"

She didn't answer. She just clung to me like I was her only lifeline.

This was the first time I'd ever seen her like this. She was always smiling, quick with sarcastic remarks, always ready to fight back if anyone provoked her.

But now… looking at her like this, so small and fragile in my arms, she was the complete opposite. Weak.

And I wondered, my heart aching, whether I'd ever see her smile like before.

I kept offering words to calm her down, but she wouldn't stop crying.

So I went quiet. I held her tighter, letting her know I was here.

Oh… my baby is going through heartbreak Yuna said while approching soheon's apartment

Part of me thought: this is exactly why we wanted her to break up with Siwoo. But she wouldn't listen to me… or her parents.

Still, this wasn't the way I planned it to happen. I knew Soheon—she might try to do something stupid if left alone. Luckily, Minho was there. Nothing major would happen… I hoped.

I quickly walked to her door and pushed it open. Empty.

I went her room and gently pushed the door.

I froze.

If it weren't for my friend crying her heart out, I might have thought I'd walked in on their honeymoon.

Both of them were completely soaked.

They didn't notice me, so I knocked gently on the open door.

Minho looked at me, his eyes cold and piercing. I felt my hair stand on end.

"I'm… Yuna. Soheon's friend—the one who came yesterday and called not long ago," I said quickly, hoping to clarify before he assumed I was involved.

He stared at me. "I know who you are," he said, his voice low and cold.

"Should I… go I thought?" glancing at Soheon still crying in his arms.

She's still my friend I can't abandon her,so I walked closer to them and told Minho

To set Soheon down on the bed.

He looked at me and nodded then gently laid her fully on the bed. Standing, he looked down at her curled-up form.

"Don't worry," I said, trying to reassure him. "I'll take care of her."

He turned toward me. His wet clothes clung to his body, outlining every muscle. My face heated instantly. Yuna, focus, I scolded myself silently.

"Why is your ear red?" he asked, noticing.

"It's hot. Don't worry—just go. I'll make her better," I replied firmly.

He glanced at me, then back at Soheon. Slowly, he started walking toward the door.

But before he reached it, a small, hoarse voice called out:

"Minho…"

We both turned to look at Soheon, her back still turned to us.

He swallowed hard before answering softly, I'm sorry."

"She said I'm really sorry… I'll find a better place for you," she added, sniffling.

I looked at her back, her tiny frame shaking slightly. In that moment, I made a silent promise: I will never allow anyone to make her sad or hurt her, as long as I'm alive.

With that, Minho left the room.
