Fiona brought the phone back to her ears.
"I'm listening. I'm trying so hard not to lose my ear because of you."
"I'm sorry," Hazel laughed breathless, "I'm just excited that Dante asked me for a date."
Fiona's hand flew over her mouth as she chuckled softly.
"It is unclear to me why you're surprised. The man was obviously into you from day one; he literally threw himself like some prince charming to rescue his princess in Maldives."
Hazel giggled.
"I know, but subsequently, we kept talking normally. We got closer, but he never made it feel romantic; it always felt friendly."
Fiona smiled knowingly.
"I think it's because he respects you and wants to know first."
She paused before adding with a mischievous grin.
"Unlike your wonderful cousin, who skipped introductions and went straight to stealing kisses."
A beat passed.
"WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY!"
Hazel's scream exploded through the speaker. At the same time, Fiona pulled the phone away from their ear.
