Chapter 47 - Chapter 47: A Kind-Hearted Little Girl

chapter 47: A Kind-Hearted Little Girl

Just then, he felt a light tug on his sleeve.

He looked down and saw the little girl. Her eyes were red from crying, and her face was flushed with shame. She wasn't looking at her mother; she was looking directly at Ethan. There was an innocence in her gaze that felt like a bucket of cold water over his simmering anger.

Slowly, she reached into her small pocket and pulled out a crumpled, sweaty ten-dollar bill. It was clearly her lunch money or savings from a piggy bank—the kind of money that represents a fortune to a child.

"Big brother..." she whispered, her voice shaking. "I'm sorry. My mommy wasn't looking at the road. She was looking at her phone. Please... please don't be mad at her. This is all I have. Is it enough to fix your car?"

The crowd went silent. The murmuring stopped instantly. The woman's tirade died in her throat, her face turning a deep shade of purple from embarrassment as her own daughter exposed the truth. The greed that had been fueling her voice evaporated, replaced by a crushing weight of public shame.

Ethan looked at the small hand holding the ten dollars, then at the massive scratch on his Ferrari. The contrast was staggering. He felt a wave of warmth wash over him. In a world of greed and deception—were his own uncle Thomas had pushed his mother over a loan, and his cousin Quin had acted like a coward—this child's heart was worth more than any luxury car.

The system in his mind didn't offer a prompt, and no points were flashed, but Ethan felt a sense of clarity he hadn't experienced since the "Zillion System" had first activated. This was what he was protecting. This was the reason he was building Black Global Holdings.

Ethan knelt down and gently took the ten-dollar bill. He didn't care about the dust on the street or the eyes of the crowd. He tucked it carefully into his wallet, placing it in a separate slot, right next to his most important documents.

"It's enough," Ethan said with a soft smile, patting the girl's head. "In fact, it's more than enough. You're a very brave and kind girl."

He looked up at the mother. She was now looking at the ground, her shoulders slumped, unable to meet his gaze or the gaze of the people she had tried to manipulate. She had a daughter who was a better human being than she would ever be. Ethan didn't say a word to her. He didn't need to. The silence of the crowd was a louder condemnation than anything he could say.

He simply got back into his Ferrari and drove away, leaving the crowd—and the ten dollars of pure honesty—behind him.

As the V12 engine hummed, Ethan looked at his reflection in the rearview mirror. He was the "Sovereign," a man with wealth beyond human comprehension, but as he felt the presence of that crumbled ten-dollar bill in his pocket, he felt something else: a sense of duty.

He didn't head straight to the hospital. He pulled over a few blocks away and dialed Elena.

"Sir?" her voice was prompt, as always.

"Elena, I just had a minor accident. I'm sending you the dashcam footage and the GPS coordinates. I want you to find that little girl. Don't touch the mother, but I want a scholarship fund set up in the girl's name. Cover her education until she finishes her doctorate. And make sure she never has to worry about a meal again. Do it anonymously."

"Understood, sir. It will be done by this evening."

Ethan hung up and put the car back in gear. The scratch on the door was still there, a jagged reminder of the encounter, but he didn't feel the need to rush to the body shop. He would drive it just like this for the rest of the day.

The hospital towers were finally visible on the horizon. His mother, Kendra, was there, waiting for him. His father, Henry, was there, likely staring at the keys to the G-Wagon in disbelief. And Sarah, the sister who had stayed strong when everything fell apart, was waiting for her brother to arrive.

Ethan pushed the accelerator. He had paid back the loan to Thomas. He had broken the spirit of Quin. And he had just been given the most valuable ten dollars in the history of the world.

The Sovereign was coming home, not just as a rich man, but as a son who finally had the power to make the world stop hurting the people he loved.

As the Ferrari pulled into the hospital's private VIP entrance, Ethan felt his Mind and Body weak.

How was he to confront his parents about the source of money and convince them to accept the Golden Dragon Hotel.
