Chapter 13 - Two Brothers, One Sin

Chapter 13

Cedric's Point of View

I lingered on the shore for a while, my feet sinking into the sand as I contemplated the restless sea. I didn't know what I was going to do; a million worries were clashing in my head.

And now, I had to face the problem of Stephanie's pregnancy, especially after my grandfather found out and gave me a long lecture over the phone that made my temples throb with rage. I never imagined things would get this complicated.

I stood up from the sand and brushed the dust off my clothes. As soon as I saw Alexander's car parked at the entrance, I knew he had come because of the pregnancy issue; surely, my grandfather was the one who sent him after me. I entered the house with quick strides and asked the maid sharply, "Where is Alexander?"

"Mr. Alexander asked me for the room of the pregnant lady," she said nervously.

"What?!" I shouted in disbelief.

I ran up the stairs, my heart pounding with apprehension. The moment I opened the door, I froze.

I saw Stephanie standing there in her bathrobe, her wet red hair dripping onto her shoulders, with Alexander standing suspiciously close to her. "Alex... what are you doing here?" I said, trying to stifle my fury.

He stepped toward me coldly. "I came to see for myself the girl who got pregnant by you."

"And what business is that of yours?" I replied, feeling my jaw muscles tense.

"My business?" he said, shifting his gaze between us. "You know all hell has broken loose at home, Cedric, because of this."

"I don't care if all hell breaks loose," I answered with harsh indifference. "What are you doing in this room? You shouldn't have entered."

He tilted his head, his shock barely contained. "I was very surprised that this girl is..."

Stephanie suddenly interrupted him, lifting her head with pride despite her situation. "I haven't introduced myself, Mr. Alexander... I am Stephanie. Stephanie Miller."

Alex looked at her with clear confusion, his tone changing as he said, "Charmed to meet you."

"Fine, Stephanie," I said firmly, gesturing for him to leave. "I need to speak with my brother in private."

"Is this your brother?" she asked, looking at him with bewilderment.

"Unfortunately... my brother," I said sarcastically.

"Unfortunately, indeed," Alexander replied as he walked toward me. "Let's go talk."

We left the room and headed to my office downstairs. As soon as we entered and closed the door, Alexander exploded, shouting in my face, "Are you insane, Cedric? What is this madness you've done?"

"Stop it, Alex," I said, rubbing my forehead in frustration. "I didn't want this to happen."

"How did you not want it to happen when the girl is pregnant?" he yelled. "Weren't you taking precautions?" He added with biting sarcasm, "Are we going to discover a new girl every day coming here pregnant by you?"

"Enough, Alex!" I snapped, my patience wearing thin. "Of course I take precautions."

"And the pregnant girl... on top of whom? By whom is she pregnant?" he said, stepping closer.

I exhaled sharply. "Fine... I came inside her. It was a moment of madness; I'm not used to finishing inside."

"A moment of madness?" he replied, stunned. "And were you thinking about what would happen after that moment?"

"I didn't expect her to get pregnant," I said, trying to justify it to myself before him. "It was one night."

He shook his head in despair. "One night and you got her pregnant? Please stay away from this girl, or we'll have an entire army of children."

"She's carrying twins," I said in a low voice.

Alexander's body went rigid. "What? Twins?!"

"Why do you keep shouting? She'll hear you!" I said, glancing toward the door.

"That's what worries you? That she'll hear you?" he replied passionately. "Have you thought about Grandfather when he finds out they're twins? He'll slaughter you!"

"Enough... he'll forget in a few days," I said, trying to de-escalate. "Isn't he the one who wanted grandkids and was pushing you to get married and have children?"

Alexander looked at me with a pitying gaze. "He wanted grandkids from your fiancée, you genius... Have you forgotten that you're engaged?"

"You know very well, Alex, that our engagement is just a deal," I said coldly.

"But you are engaged now," he said, placing his hand firmly on my shoulder. "How are you going to handle this?"

"I'll find a solution to the problem," I said, looking away to avoid his scrutiny.

"You don't find solutions, Cedric," he shook his head mockingly. "I'm the only one who finds them... you only cause problems."

I sighed, feeling a cramp in my neck muscles. "Enough... aren't you tired of playing the big brother role?"

He rubbed his beard nervously. "Yes, I'm tired, but you're the one who isn't tired of playing the little brother." He paused, watching my reaction, then asked in a strange tone, "How did you meet Stephanie?"

"You memorized her name quickly," I replied, surprised.

"She just told it to me... do I have Alzheimer's?" he snapped back.

"I found her at a nightclub," I said quietly.

He raised his eyebrows in astonishment. "I see... and how long did your relationship last?"

"We didn't have a relationship," I said sharply, my fist tightening on the edge of the desk. "Just one night."

He leaned toward me, confusion clear on his features. "She doesn't look like that type... and how did she let you finish inside? Wasn't she afraid of getting pregnant?"

I sighed even louder. "Oh, Alex... you ask too many questions!"

"I'm just puzzled how she let you fuck her after only one night!" he shot back with equal intensity.

I straightened up, anger boiling in my chest. "Alex... is that what matters to you now? How she let me fuck her? You talk about her as if you've known her for years to know such a thing!"

He relaxed his shoulders and spoke in a calm tone, as if analyzing her character. "I'm just guessing... she looks like an innocent girl."

I wanted to end this unsettling topic, so I asked seriously, "Fine, Alex... what is Grandfather thinking right now? Tell me."

He looked at me with a piercing gaze, making me realize the gravity of the situation as he said with lethal coldness: "He is currently thinking of killing you."
