Chapter 167
Stephanie's point of view
Before their toxic bickering could escalate, a nurse stepped calmly into the hallway, a medical chart clipped to her hand. She called out my name. "Miss Stephanie Miller?"
I bolted to my feet so fast it was a miracle I didn't trip, treating her voice like a literal lifeline. "Yes! Yes, that's me. I'm right here."
She offered a polite, professional smile. "Right this way to the examination room, please. The doctor is ready for you."

I stepped toward the doctor with an anxious, fluttering heart. She turned around with a warm, welcoming smile. "Good morning! How are you and the pregnancy doing today, Miss Miller?"
