Chapter 20 - Custodians

Eightbound, as the name implies, these Astartes warriors have eight daemon souls within them.

While granting the subject immense power, the eight daemons also bestow upon him an endless desire for slaughter and combat.

Those who become such warriors are, without exception, the craziest of the crazy.

The eight daemons endow them with powerful self-healing abilities, strength, and a truly frenzied desire for combat.

They can even unleash these wild warriors to rampage directly through a tide of greenskins.

No one cares about tactics, and no one cares who the next enemy is.

Just like the mindless slaughter represented by Khorne, they only know how to kill.

They will cut through every enemy in front of them, even their own teammates.

"Waaaa!"

Although a large number of greenskins were slaughtered like grass by these crazed warriors.

However, under the leadership of Hulk, this group of greenskins still did not give up the attack.

When Hulk's iron fist, resembling a battering ram, smashed into an Eightbound's face, even with the blessing of eight daemons, they had to go down.

Endless power made the current Hulk unstoppable.

The desire for slaughter radiating from the blood only made Hulk angrier and more powerful.

Khorne: Damn, this greenskin is tough!

Wait, this isn't a damn greenskin, it's a mutant!

Driven by berserk power, Khorne began trying to bestow a heap of blessings upon this mutant.

Although this mutant was crazily slaughtering his own soldiers, but who cares?

Khorne had always appreciated this kind of violent slaughter; as for whether they were his own soldiers, it didn't matter at all.

"Get lost! All of you, get out of my way!"

The blessing of blood-colored energy caused Hulk's combat power to skyrocket.

Hulk was already a being whose strength increased the angrier he got; now, with the blessing of Khorne's power, it was like stepping on his own feet to fly, his combat power spiraling straight to the heavens.

When Caleb noticed Hulk again, the guy's stats had become monstrous.

His body had expanded to about seven or eight meters, almost equivalent to a small knight mech.

A few profane runes began to appear on his originally smooth skin.

However, due to his body's formidable recovery ability, whenever runes appeared on his skin, they were immediately digested by his powerful self-healing.

"I am the strongest human, the chosen of the gods of Gork and Mork!"

"Who dares to block me, who dares to rival me!"

"WAAAAAGH! HULK SMASH!"

After smashing several chosen of the gods, and even a Daemon Prince, Hulk had reached the point of being unstoppable.

If not for the Boiling Sea in front of him, he would probably have fought his way to the Gate of the Red Angel with this kind of strength.

However, the vast ocean blocked his path, and at this moment, Hulk, having lost his reason, did not think of a way to cross the river.

However, at this moment, a greenskin with a very clever idea thought of a way to cross the river.

They first used scrap metal scavenged from the hive city to piece together ship hulls, then, using the welding technique of "I think it works," they directly welded submarines and an entire naval fleet.

During this time, Hulk was almost exclusively enjoying the slaughter on the shore, no matter which of Khorne's troops landed, they would be slaughtered by him in a very short time.

At this point, Caleb noticed that his piece seemed to show slight signs of losing control; although his perception had not changed, the power of Khorne's blessing was manifesting on Hulk.

The good news was that the endless waaaa energy meant that Hulk had not yet fallen into the abyss.

However, there was also bad news in this, which was that Hulk, who didn't have much brain to begin with, was becoming increasingly brainless.

At this moment, Khorne finally revealed his true colors, just like Rogal Dorn back then, he directly pulled Hulk into his own realm!

"Damn, there's piece swapping?"

Caleb was stunned; he already knew what Khorne was trying to do.

But right now, Lion El''Jonson was still defending the hive city, and hundreds of Titans were still exchanging fire outside.

Obviously, Khorne wanted to give a taste of his own medicine. Having had Angron stolen from him, he wanted to steal Hulk.

[Khorne: Brave and fearless warrior, I will grant you endless power and blessings!]

[I will reward you with endless combat, and in this endless combat, you will prove that you are the strongest existence!]

[Hulk: Hulk is Hulk, Hulk is the chosen of the gods of Gork and Mork!]

[Khorne: I will grant you mighty power to defeat any enemy; even the most elite warriors will not be your match.]

[Hulk: Hulk is Hulk, Hulk is the chosen of the gods of Gork and Mork!]

Khorne tried every method, but the guy just replied to him like a broken record.

The opponent seemed completely uninterested in his power, and the guy's constantly growing rage was instead drawing power from somewhere else.

Khorne was numb.

He really couldn't understand why this green piece was so hard to capture?

Was the affinity he cultivated not high enough? Or were the Chaos Daemons he fed him not enough?

[Khorne: It seems it still needs time to train; I must deploy more warriors to fight, and I must use more pieces to compete with him!]

[As long as the desire for slaughter is raised, he will definitely come with me.]

[I want to see how long you can last in my endless blood-colored space!]

[I don't believe this stinky rock can be as stubborn as Rogal Dorn!]

Sensing Khorne's emotions, Caleb curled his lips, not knowing what to say.

His own piece had almost smashed through the daemons under the other side's command, yet Khorne was just watching the show.

Perhaps in Khorne's eyes, this was his galgame; only with enough patience could he obtain the piece he wanted.

"WAAAAAGH!"

As Hulk roared once again, a huge foot stepped directly into Khorne's blood-colored space!

Before Khorne could react, the Hulk he had taken a fancy to was actually snatched away by the guy in front of him!

The big foot kicked Hulk straight out of the blood-colored space!

When Khorne wanted to pull him back, he discovered that this guy seemed to be protected by some kind of energy!

A strange green energy protected him, allowing this greenskin to WAAAAAGH as he pleased!

"Look, our boss is back!"

The original greenskins were almost on the verge of collapse because their boss had disappeared.

But after the mysterious power sent Hulk back, the boys on the scene burst into cheers!

They waaaa-ed louder than one another, and bestowed all the surrounding waaaa energy onto their boss.

"I am the chosen of the gods of Gork and Mork, I am the one truly chosen!"

With this shout, Khorne was stunned, including Caleb, who was watching the gameboard, was also stunned.

Caleb had played a game called Stellaris.

He had previously been unable to figure out the power of the Old Ones, but now he had found the positioning of the Old Ones from another game.

"As expected of the Old Ones, the former shapers of the Warp; I reckon that in the era when those guys still existed, the gods of the Warp could be created at will, right?"

After Caleb finished sighing, he continued to let the greenskins chop, chop, chop.

Anyway, they just needed to consume the enemy's daemons here. As for the Gate of the Red Angel, it was better not to let Hulk go there, lest he be pulled into the Blood God's realm again.

[Current Deployment Points: 3000 / 10000]

[Two Hive Cities remaining, please defend until the last moment!]

After losing three Hive Cities in a row, the original deployment point limit had reached 10,000 points.

Such a large number of deployment points was enough to deploy many unimaginable units.

Such as Baneblade heavy tanks, or knight mechs, and even Titans.

If not for the fact that the delivery was still on the way, Caleb would want to deploy those key units right now.

Now he was in an awkward situation where he had many points but not enough pieces.

On a battlefield of this level, continuing to deploy Astartes was actually of little significance.

There were not many units on the field; Lion took up 1000 points, and then the soldiers under him took up a few hundred points.

Hulk also occupied 1000 points here, which counted as buying time.

The remaining miscellaneous units did not add up to many deployment points.

Just when Caleb was thinking about what reinforcements to send next.

His most precious piece, Lion , had already started cursing and swearing.

He was complaining incessantly in his heart like a bitter, nagging spouse.

Although he appeared calm and composed on the surface, his internal thoughts were already exploding.

Lion El''Jonson: Dammit, bastard, why are there Fallen Angels here!

I definitely cannot show myself; I absolutely cannot let those Fallen Angels know that I have become a woman!

I have to make my sons catch them personally, but that means abandoning the front line, catch the Fallen Angels first!

Damn it, why has the situation turned out like this!

The people in the War Council already distrust us, and if things continue like this, won't we be finished!

Watching Lion begin his heaven-defying operation, Caleb couldn't help but want to complain about the problems of the Dark Angels.

At other times, they are quite useful, and they are not ambiguous regarding their loyalty to the Imperium of Man.

However, once they encounter Fallen Angels, that loyalty drops to zero.

No matter what happens, they must catch the Fallen Angels first; even if the sky falls, they must catch the Fallen Angels first!

A strange thing happened on the gameboard; a large number of Dark Angels disappeared from their positions.

Then they directly screwed over their teammates, almost causing the defensive line to collapse.

"Where the f*ck are the people?"

"What do you mean this bunch of guys went to execute a secret mission?"

"Holy sh*t, they left without saying a word to me!"

"What kind of idiotic teammates are these!"

Caleb seemed to hear a collection of Zaun-style insults; upon learning they had been sold out by their teammates, the other allies on the front line unleashed a barrage of colorful language.

The sons of the Space Wolves were cursing about it, and the Black Templars also had extremely grave expressions.

They were in the middle of a battle, and the people just ran off?

Isn't this obviously selling out your teammates? What a bunch of trolls?

There was no choice, the poor Death Korps of Krieg had to be the meat shields again.

If it weren't for the fearless charge of the Death Korps of Krieg, this gap would likely have been occupied by the enemy immediately.

However, it was a pity that a large number of veteran devourers had already occupied that position.

The famous Eightbound also successfully occupied that stronghold and continued to charge forward.

The loyalist forces committed a large amount of troops, wanting to take it back.

However, all of this was futile, and it even caused the loyalist forces to pay a huge price.

"These Dark Angels are truly unreliable as f*ck!"

"What a waste of those hundreds of Cataphractii Terminators; if they were given to me, I would have already punched through the enemy, I wouldn't be stuck in this miserable prison like now!"

The various Company Captains of the Black Templars and Space Wolves couldn't help but complain.

That mysterious Dark Angels company was just too damn luxurious.

They were all equipped with Cataphractii-class Terminators; one must know that for other Chapters, even Tartaros-pattern suits are considered treasures.

Let alone the more advanced Cataphractii type.

"No, we must convene another War Council; we have to figure out what these guys are actually trying to do!"

The two Chapters could not tolerate the sudden departure of the Dark Angels, so they intended to go and question the knight captain of the Dark Angels!

However, Lion saw this reaction clearly.

Lion El''Jonson: Damn it, now we have a problem.

Losing so many strongholds in a row will definitely cause the Dark Angels to be questioned.

[No, I have to think of a way to keep the secret of the Fallen Angels; maybe I should just take out the Chapter Masters of these two Chapters!

Caleb: Hey, hey, hey!

Seeing the panting Lion about to take extreme measures, Caleb immediately stopped this guy's actions.

If they let the other side get word of this, the entire front line would truly be finished.

Without the help of the other two Chapters, trying to hold this place with only one company is almost impossible.

This is an Apocalypse-level battle, the Titan Legions on both sides are still exchanging fire; is it not a bit crazy to attack our own people now?

The upper levels of the hive city.

At this moment, due to the unfavorable war situation, the Imperium of Man held another War Council.

Amidst endless abuse and mutual blame, the strategic policy that Lion wanted to implement began to wobble.

The other forces of the Imperium of Man wanted to continue defending the Hell hive city to the death.

But the Dark Angels abandoned their positions for various reasons.

"A bunch of cowards!"

The Black Templars felt angry about Lion's act of abandoning the position, and even the Space Wolves, sneered at this act of abandoning the position.

The War Council, which was not very united to begin with, became a place for the various factions to argue at this moment.

The Titan Legion, Knight Houses, and Astartes were all arguing noisily here.

Only the mortal generals chose to stay silent at this moment, because the soldiers under their command were the Death Korps of Krieg, who were unconditionally loyal to the Emperor, even if ordered to go to their deaths.

"What an impregnable defensive line, yet you chose to retreat!"

"Are you Dark Angels of the First Legion just eating rice with so many Cataphractii-pattern Terminators?"

"If we had these good things, we would have already fought our way to the gate of the Gate of the Red Angel!"

The Black Templars also added.

"Abandoning the defensive line is one thing, but you didn't even tell your allies, it almost caused the veterans of my First Company to be wiped out, how are we supposed to play!"

Helbrecht furiously cursed at the knight captain of the Dark Angels.

However, the knight captain, kept using the excuse of executing a secret mission for the Emperor and did not reveal any information.

The reason for abandoning the position was not because they were cowards.

It was because, at a certain moment, Lion discovered the Fallen Angels.

So their entire company went to catch the Fallen Angels first, which led to the collapse of the defensive line, and they were almost gutted by the Chaos forces.

Lion El''Jonson: Argh, so annoying, if I hadn't become like this, I would have gone to catch them myself!

With one The Wanderer and one crippling strike, what Fallen Angel could withstand it!

If I wasn't afraid of being recognized by the Fallen Angels, I would have charged in already!

A certain panting Lion had already started muttering to himself.

Hearing this, Caleb also couldn't help but complain.

Does an unimportant Fallen Angel need your concern?

Instead of dealing with traitors, it's better to hold the front line properly!

Maybe after the Fallen Angels see their Primarch has become a mother, they will instantly turn into Brother Wah and continue fighting for Lion!

Lion gritted his teeth, looking at the arrested Fallen Angel in the holographic image.

Now he only had hatred for these traitors, without too much emotion.

The Father's behavior just goes to show that the secrets held by the Fallen Angels are truly too many.

Before those security risks are dealt with, Lion has no way to execute the mission with peace of mind.

"F*ck!" Upon thinking of this, Lion only felt a headache.

Why is there a psychic link between me and my sons!

As long as I appear in front of a Fallen Angel, the Fallen Angel can immediately recognize that I am their Primarch.

When the time comes, it's very simple for the Fallen Angel to make Lion break down; they just need to see the Primarch and shout "Mother!"

Seeing the War Council about to explode in chaos, Caleb understood that he had to send some important assistance.

Caleb: I have already sent the agent over; you only have one mission—completing the task I have entrusted to you is enough.

Caleb grabbed a golden corn-shaped chess piece and threw it down.

Subsequently, within the seemingly calm meeting room, a golden giant hand suddenly appeared!

"What is that thing!"

The meeting, which was originally arguing endlessly, immediately fell into chaos, and only the Astartes and the various Chapter Masters were able to keep their cool, drawing their weapons to prepare for a confrontation.

They were still marveling inside; what kind of power is this? To be able to silently stretch its hand here.

"Custodes?"

Logan Grimnar could not believe his eyes, and Helbrecht was also surprised by the arrival of the Custodes.

However, when that golden corn-cob-like figure stood on the spot, everyone was shocked.

They had previously heard the Dark Angels say that the Emperor would send reinforcements, but they hadn't expected the way reinforcements were sent would be like this!

However, before they could express their doubts, that golden giant hand sent the Sisters of Silence over as well.

Now the Custodes were truly in their complete form; if any guy present dared to disobey, the Custodes could kill them all!

"It seems you do not understand the meaning of the God-Emperor!"

"In order to ensure the will of the Emperor is carried out, I hereby announce your mission!"
