Chapter 50 - Ambitious Guilliman

"Lord Guilliman, perhaps the situation is not as dire as it seems!"

"Perhaps, perhaps we can still be saved. Once Chapter Master Calgar returns, maybe we can—"

"Do what? Let my Father pick me up?" Although Guilliman said this, he controlled his expression quite well.

His youthful face was etched with seriousness, yet he used the most serious expression to say the most ridiculous things.

"W—well, that's not impossible!" Sicarius was out of options. He never could have imagined the Primarch turning into this!

In the current situation, he didn't know what to do, so he could only wait for the Ultramarines to assemble before discussing countermeasures.

Just as the situation was getting out of hand, Caleb spoke.

He wanted to use his supreme voice to make Guilliman fight properly.

[Caleb: Do not be afraid, Guilliman. You are not beyond saving. Quickly destroy all enemies. I have not abandoned you. You are the most loyal to the Imperium of Man. Work hard, Guilliman.]

That was what Caleb said, but that was not how Guilliman heard it.

Perhaps because Guilliman's signal was too poor, Caleb discovered that what Guilliman heard was not like that at all.

[Guilliman—no saving—abandon—enemies—do—the most loyal of the Imperium of Man—do—Guilliman!]

The moment he heard these fragmented words, Guilliman's face turned pale with fright.

Because there was a golden phantom in his mind speaking to him, and he could feel it was the tone of his Father.

That was the strange language his Father was speaking to him in fragments.

After roughly understanding the current state of the Imperium of Man, Guilliman was completely stunned.

At this moment, like a kite with a broken string, he slumped into the office chair in the Fortress of Hera.

He could already imagine the scene of being destroyed by the united Imperial fleet.

His Father was becoming a god, and this god-like Father seemed to have just said he had abandoned him.

"Sicarius, what should we do?"

"My Father seems to have abandoned us. Why don't you run away quickly!"

"I'll stay here and wait for death; you all should run as far as you can!"

[Caleb, The Emperor: No!]

Both the old man in yellow and Caleb were dumbfounded.

What is wrong with this guy? Why is the signal so bad?

Lion's signal was so good; basically, whatever was said, he heard.

Guilliman didn't know the reason, but when a long sentence was spoken, he only heard a few words!

Caleb originally wanted to encourage Guilliman and make him pull himself together, but later discovered that the more he said, the more desperate Guilliman became.

Now, little Guilliman was even slumped on the desk, preparing to wait for death.

That hand kept scratching his chest, attempting to cover the mark that symbolized desire.

Seeing his Primarch in such a depressed state, even Sicarius felt like dying.

He never expected that his moment of carelessness would cause such a huge mess.

If the Primarch truly lost the will to live, then they, the Ultramarines, would really be finished.

Caleb suddenly remembered that since the signal was bad, he should just send something to boost the signal.

The omnipotent Doraemon's four-dimensional pocket basically had everything; things to boost signals were a dime a dozen!

Caleb deployed the most famous blue cat on the gameboard!

Caleb pointed at Doraemon and commanded in a calm tone: "Doraemon, look after Guilliman!"

"Convey my message to him when necessary. If he doesn't believe you, take out the What If Telephone Booth!"

Caleb deployed Doraemon, and immediately a resounding sound rang out on the gameboard.

[Deploy Doraemon? Deployment cost is 1000 points.]

[Caleb: Yes!]

As Caleb deployed Doraemon, the robotic cat riding a time machine soon suddenly darted out from a strange spatial cave.

"Waah!"

Like Lion, Guilliman was also startled by the blue cat that suddenly darted out. However, he did not hiss like Lion.

Instead, he rubbed his eyes in disbelief and looked at the other party!

"Sicarius, do we still have Iron Men in our Chapter?"

"I haven't been back for 10,000 years; have we made this much progress?"

"Emm..." Sicarius looked at this robotic cat vigilantly and even drew his power sword.

"That, Primarch, no!"

"For ten thousand years, we have been single-mindedly adhering to your codex astartes; it is impossible for such things to exist!"

As soon as Sicarius finished speaking, the blue cat had already started greeting Guilliman.

"Hi! Guilliman!"

"I am the nanny robot sent by your Father!"

"Your dad said the signal on your end is not very good, so he specifically asked me to give you the telephone booth!"

Doraemon then rummaged through his four-dimensional pocket and found his What If Telephone Booth inside.

A huge telephone booth was placed in the very center of the Fortress of Hera.

In this magnificent palace, this telephone booth looked exceptionally unique.

"Nanny, robot?"

"Can these two things really be combined together?"

Guilliman's face was full of unspoken awkwardness. Although his subconscious told him that this was an ally, his logic told him that such a suddenly appearing object was not reliable!

"What If Telephone Booth!"

"With this thing, you can call your Father in the Warp!"

"This phone not only allows you to call your Father, but you can also call your other brothers!"

Doraemon smiled and enthusiastically introduced the functions of the What If Telephone Booth.

However, when he heard the word "brothers," even the rational Guilliman got a bit carried away.

"Sicarius, catch this strange thing first!"

"Seal this telephone booth away for now; we'll talk after I figure out the current state of the Imperium of Man!"

[Caleb: ————]

[The Emperor: ————]

"Wait, what are you doing? I really am the nanny robot sent by your Father!"

"Don't lock me in the basement, it's very easy to have mice there, ahhh!"

Both Caleb and The Emperor watched helplessly as Doraemon was caught, and they even kept the four-dimensional pocket and Doraemon separately.

Both The Emperor and Caleb were speechless.

They had thought their good child would go to the telephone booth to answer their call, but now, they had to call the ambitious Guilliman themselves!

"Ring ring, ring ring—"

When Doraemon took out the telephone booth, The Emperor had actually already called Guilliman through Lion.

Because of this, now as long as Guilliman could pick up the phone, The Emperor and Lion could communicate with him directly.

This kind of item was a treasure even to the current Emperor; even if it was just to conduct real-time communication with his offspring, to The Emperor, it was simply a holy relic!

However—at this moment, Guilliman looked at the continuously ringing telephone booth and fell into deep thought.

He did not know the purpose of this metal contraption appearing; the other party's item might be very dangerous!

"Sicarius, take this incessantly ringing telephone booth down!"

"Just put it in the sanctuary where I was lying before; it should be fine!"

"Yes, Primarch!"

Sicarius did not hesitate, directly carried the telephone booth down, and hung up The Emperor's call!

The entire telephone booth was carried down by him, which left both Caleb and The Emperor completely bewildered.

Caleb was just speechless, but the Emperor was not so simple.

[The Emperor: Idiot, how dare you hang up on me!]

[Guilliman, just you wait, you are dead meat!]

[Wait until I see if I can slap you with a psychic slap!]

Guilliman did not hear the first voice, only the latter.

In a daze, he actually heard his Father speak again.

[Guilliman—you are dead meat!]

[Take my psychic slap!]

Guilliman narrowed his eyes slightly, beginning to doubt what the thing in his mind actually was.

Could it be that Fulgrim was using some kind of psychic means to pretend to be his Father, nagging in his mind?

After all, he had been poisoned by Fulgrim, but he didn't seem to be dead yet!

At this moment, Guilliman's heart was exceptionally firm, and he recited inwardly.

[Guilliman: The Emperor is not a god, The Emperor is not a god, The Emperor is not a god!]

Under this series of mutterings, he actually recited The Emperor's phantom away.

Rational thinking; the ability to destroy friendly forces was maxed out.

[The Emperor: Hopeless. I gave him a cheat, and he actually sealed the cheat!]

[Caleb: I thought such a beautiful opening, one could play with their eyes closed, but I didn't expect Guilliman to mess it all up!]

In the sky, the two mature fathers could only shake their heads secretly at Guilliman.

Even the Emperor felt that the current Guilliman might not be as useful as that hissing, meowing Lion.

Now that Lion has Alice, he is indeed much more effective than before; Alice's machine spirit management capabilities have perfectly compensated for the First Legion's shortcomings.

Furthermore, with the help of the machine spirit, it's as if Lion's side can wield the power of the Iron Men.

It was only because the Emperor feared a loss of control that he didn't allow Lion to return.

However, never in their wildest dreams did they expect that while the Iron Men hadn't lost control yet, it seemed Guilliman's side was about to lose control first.

At this moment, Guilliman had already begun to let his imagination run wild.

He was even starting to think of some very treasonous things.

"How about establishing a Second Imperium!"

"With Father's fate unknown, I must still support the entire Imperium of Man!"

Ambitious words spilled from Guilliman's mouth.

At this, Caleb couldn't help but roast him: "Wow, it's the limited edition 'Ambitious' Guilliman!"

Of course, Guilliman still had his wits about him; he felt that if he wanted to rebuild the Second Imperium, he had to understand the current situation first.

Thus, when Sicarius returned, he began to inquire about the current state of the Imperium.

And then—Guilliman was stunned.

Why did it feel like the Imperium was becoming more and more pathetic?

Why did it feel like the current Imperium had betrayed the Emperor?

Guilliman's mouth hung wide open.

He then pointed to the codex astartes he had written ten thousand years ago and asked.

"Sicarius, you have followed the codex astartes, you've followed it for ten thousand years, right?"

Sicarius nodded: "Yes, Lord Primarch. As your scions, we have always adhered to the golden rules you passed down!"

"Your standardized Chapter tactics are still quite applicable even today!"

"We can unite with other Chapters to strike the same enemy. Because of your codex astartes, our joint operations with other Chapters are now very harmonious!"

"Ah, haha, is that so?" Guilliman laughed bitterly, suddenly feeling a bit like dying.

He suddenly really wanted to go back to sleep and never wake up again.

Before waking up, he didn't have to have nightmares.

Now that he was awake, everything was a damn nightmare.

His old man had become some kind of god-man, and his brothers were nowhere to be found.

The traitorous brothers had become increasingly surreal, and they had even turned him into a woman!

Not only that, the Imperium had become more and more trashy over these ten thousand years.

Even some of the temporary expedients he had written back then were still being used now!

Guilliman pointed to his loli head.

"If my other brothers saw that the Codex I wrote is still being used like this, they would be so angry they'd beat me to death!"

"Sicarius, if I wanted to change the Codex now, how much of a chance do you think I have?"

"If I wanted to make large-scale changes, what are the odds right now?"

Looking at the Codex in his hand—which felt too stiff even to use as toilet paper—Guilliman, for some reason, suddenly felt that the things he wrote in the past were truly disgusting!

What Guilliman understood even less was why this thing could be used by his children for a full ten thousand years?

Did no one ever think of reform in the interim? Was the Imperium really devoid of talent afterward?

"Um, Lord Guilliman."

Sicarius thought for a moment and said: "Even if you want to change it now, it might be a bit difficult!"

"A while back, maybe a dozen years ago, Chapter Master Calgar wanted to add a Tyranid War Veteran formation!"

"Due to the Tyranid invasion, adjusting the organization seemed necessary to Calgar at the time."

"As a result, under the opposition of a large portion of the Astartes Council, that condition was simply never added!"

"Uh——"

Sicarius's words truly left Guilliman speechless; he stood there like a ragdoll!

The light briefly left his eyes; he had completely failed to imagine that the current Imperium could be so surreal.

Not only that, but what on earth was this Ecclesiarchy?

And why was the Imperial Truth tampered with and turned into the Lectitio Divinitatus?

These beasts even dared to tamper with his father's words, so why didn't they dare to tamper with his army organization?

After a bout of brainstorming and rational analysis, Guilliman immediately reached a conclusion.

Guilliman immediately concluded.

"It is the current Imperium that has betrayed the Emperor!"

Father was on the Golden Throne, and the former laws were haphazardly changed by those damned High Lords.

The current Imperium was like a candle in the wind; not only was it inferior to the 30k era, but the regression was also severe.

So no matter how one looked at it, it was most logical that the current Imperium had betrayed the Emperor.

On the surface, they still treated the Emperor's words as holy scripture, but in reality, they had already committed acts of betrayal against him.

When Guilliman thought of this, he couldn't help but nod at his own rationality.

It seemed he had to reassemble his troops and then find a way—to take back the Emperor's power that had been usurped!

Thus, in Caleb's eyes, the ambitious Guilliman was already planning his own 'Purge of the Court'!

Guilliman only glanced twice at the pile of financial reports to understand the situation.

Most of the financial data was mediocre, but a few figures were exceptionally bright.

"Hmm—"

"But things here in Macragge are actually not bad!"

"You've actually kept food prices so low; it's cheaper than air!"

"This is——"

Sicarius told Guilliman about the discovery of the Corn Cobs.

After learning about a Corn Cob that could double in five minutes, Guilliman was nearly driven silly!

"Didn't they say the Imperium was failing? What the hell is this thing?"

"With this stuff, what need is there for Agri-Worlds?"

"It seems it's not all bad news. Wait a moment, I'll arrange the next strategic plan for you!"

The way Guilliman's little mouth babbled as he spoke was quite cute, especially since his subsequent words were filled with concern for his scions.

In Sicarius's eyes, the current Guilliman was like a loli mother who cherished her family!

His eyes held a meticulous rationality, but he would show a hint of warmth to his children when necessary.

Although many times this behavior seemed a bit like a 'free' loli.

But his tender and cute appearance alone was enough to slay the hearts of most tough men.

After watching his Primarch handle a mountain of government affairs with a 'blah blah blah' efficiency...

Sicarius even felt that this wasn't so bad after all.

Even though the Primarch had become small, his abilities didn't seem to have diminished.

By the way, was the current Primarch really corrupted or fallen?

"Lord Guilliman, it seems you can still think rationally!"

"Aside from your body turning into a mortal woman, there don't seem to be any issues with your abilities!"

"Is that so?"

Guilliman stared blankly at Sicarius; even though his gaze had turned toward him, the quill in his hand did not stop.

"Perhaps!"

"But there's an idiot in my head constantly yapping; I'm afraid that fellow is slowly corrupting me!"

"My father definitely wouldn't call me a waste. I believe my father still loves me!"

As soon as he said those words, both the Emperor and Caleb couldn't take it anymore.

Especially the Emperor; hearing these words of 'filial piety,' he really couldn't hold back.

And so, the very instant Guilliman spoke.

His dear father, the Emperor, gave Guilliman two of his favorite psychic slaps.

Slap—Slap!

Two palm prints immediately appeared on Guilliman's tender face.

The stinging, burning pain instantly made Guilliman burst into tears.

"WAAAAAGHh!!!"

Guilliman let out a cry, and tears began to fall.

Seeing this, Sicarius hurriedly stepped forward to comfort his Primarch.

"Lord Primarch, what happened to you!"

Little Guilliman wiped the tears from his face and said: "I don't know, something slapped me!"

"This must be Fulgrim's plot!"

"It must be that guy's doing!"

[Emperor: "Oh no, I've become Slaanesh!"]

By now, both Caleb and the Emperor were laughing in frustration at Guilliman's 'rational' deductions.

Guilliman's way of thinking was indeed inclined toward rationality, but the problem was that the information he had access to was far too narrow.

Sometimes being emotional isn't the scariest thing; the scariest thing is when the information you receive is wrong.

Current Guilliman was clearly trapped in an information cage woven by mysterious forces.

Rather than an information cage, it was more like Guilliman's signal was just really poor.
