Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

I just wanted to be anywhere but there . I felt suffocated. I wore a cloak. Using one of the secret passages, Chang had showed me , when we wanted to have our secret adventures. I came upon a small gorge. Which was near the palace, although one could see an opening for sunlight it was mostly covered like a cave. Rare flowers would grow there and look little trees and bushes.

The sound of steady stream water, already started calming me down. I touch a little ruin, where we had carved our initials, I remembered his sweet words and promises he whispered into my ear while he showered love on me. How he made me feel calm our laughter that filled the space.

The cool mist from the hidden stream clung to Bella's skin as she ran her fingertips over the carved initials in the ancient stone. LC + B. His strong, confident handwriting contrasted with her smaller, more delicate script. A faint smile touched her lips remembering how he'd teasingly insisted she carve hers larger to match his importance.

"See?" he'd laughed that day, pulling her into his lap on the mossy bank. "My wife needs to learn to take up more space in this world. You're too small sometimes."

The sound of water flowing over smooth rocks filled the silence left by his memory. She sat cross-legged on the damp earth where they'd shared picnics and stolen kisses away from prying eyes.

I remember how this little place, became our sanctuary. We did fuck a lot too there. It was breath taking . I blushed as the memories came rushing back.

The memory of their secret trysts in this secluded grotto brought a genuine smile to Bella's face. She could practically feel his strong hands on her waist, pushing her against the rough stone wall as he whispered filthy promises in her ear. The way he always made sure she was ready, teasing her with his fingers until she was begging for him.

Her body warmed at the recollection, a familiar ache building between her thighs. She leaned back against the same spot where he'd knelt to worship her with his tongue, her hips shifting instinctively as if seeking friction.

Above them, the narrow opening in the cave ceiling cast golden rays of sunlight across the moss-covered ground. It was there he'd pinned her against that very sunbeam, driving into her so hard she cried out his name until echoes bounced off the cavern walls.

I slowly strip my clothes and walked into the shallow stream. My rubbed my swollen belly, with one hand and the other hand , I used to clutch the ruby sun pendent. A symbol of our love and union. I look up, to the the sun rays, tears pouring down my face.

The cool water of the stream embraced Bella's body, washing away the dust and grime from her recent escape. Her pregnancy-enhanced curves were highlighted by the way the water clung to her skin, the gentle current swirling around her swollen belly. The ruby pendant caught the sunlight filtering through the cave opening, its facets sparkling like tears on her face.

God! You are the one I serve, my voice echoing. I know I have lived a miserable life, but I asked for nothing more, but for you to save my emperor. Save my husband, save my hubby. I have hurt him in a million ways. Save him, make him strong and healthy. I cried out

The water in the stream seemed to ripple in response to Bella's desperate prayer, tiny waves lapping against her calves as she stood knee-deep in the cold flow. Above her, sunlight filtered through the cave opening like divine approval, warming her tear-streaked face.

Back in the palace infirmary wing, Emperor Lee Chang Hao stirred restlessly in his bed. His brow furrowed as if sensing the distance between them, his hand reaching out instinctively toward an empty space beside him.

Empress Cheng Mei noticed his sudden agitation and rushed to his bedside. "Your Majesty? Are you in pain?" she asked worriedly, dabbing his forehead with a cool cloth.

Physician Tanaka entered the room moments later, his expression serious. "His pulse has quickened significantly. It seems something may be disturbing his recovery."

Meanwhile, deep within the secluded grotto, Bella's cries echoed off the cave walls.

I clutch the pendant tighter. Please God! Hear my prayers, mom, dad, brothers, sisters . Please plead to God on my behalf. I don't want a good man to go to waste because of my foolishness. Please I need him, our babies need him , Japan needs him.

The stream water swirled around Bella's knees as she clutched the ruby pendant with both hands, her knuckles white. "Please," she whispered hoarsely to the sunlight filtering through the cave ceiling. "I know I've been a fool. I know I almost threw away everything."

Back in the palace infirmary, Emperor Lee Chang Hao's breathing grew more erratic. His body began to tremble slightly under the silk sheets, his dark eyes fluttering open and closed as if searching for something he couldn't quite grasp.

Empress Cheng Mei leaned closer to his bedside, her voice sharp with concern. "Physician Tanaka, what is happening? He's never reacted this strongly to medication."

The physician examined Chang Hao's pulse again, his brow furrowed with worry. "His heart rate is elevated significantly. It's as if something is calling him from far away."

Please God! If you had ignored all my prayers , just answer this one. I knelt down, ignoring the pain when my knees made contact with the little rocks below. Water splashed around me in all corners as I kept begging my God above for Chang's liife.

The water around Bella churned violently as she knelt in the stream, her knees pressing into the sharp rocks beneath. Her hair plastered to her face and shoulders, droplets flying in every direction as she begged desperately to the sky above. The ruby pendant swung wildly between her breasts, catching fragments of sunlight that seemed to dance and shimmer in response to her cries.

Back in the palace infirmary, Emperor Lee Chang Hao's entire body began convulsing on the bed. His back arched sharply against the pillows, muscles tensing as if fighting an invisible force. Physician Tanaka shouted urgent commands to his assistants while Empress Cheng Mei screamed for more blankets and cooling compresses.

"He's burning up!" she cried frantically, pressing a wet cloth to his feverish forehead. "What is happening to him? Is this some kind of poison?"

Chang Hao's eyes flew open wide, fixed on a point beyond the ceiling.

Empress Cheng Mei's voice rose to a shriek as Chang Hao's body convulsed violently on the bed. "Physician Tanaka, do something! His body is on fire!"

The elderly physician scrambled to his side, pressing his hand against Chang Hao's forehead. "Your Majesty, please remain still! Your heart rate is dangerously high." He turned desperately to his assistants. "We need to administer the calming herbs immediately! Prepare the cooling bath!"

In the secluded gorge, Bella's pleas became more frantic as she felt the water around her legs grow warmer, as if responding to the distance between her and her husband. The ruby pendant pulsed with an unnatural heat against her chest, its facets glowing brighter in the sunlight filtering through the cave opening.

Back in the palace, Chang Hao's eyes remained fixed on some unseen point above him, his lips moving silently as if calling out a name.

Empress Cheng Mei watched in horror as Chang Hao's body continued to tremble violently, his back arching off the bed despite the physicians' attempts to restrain him. "He's calling for someone!" she cried, her voice cracking with panic. "Physician Tanaka, make him stop!"

The elderly physician shook his head grimly. "I've never seen anything like this. It's as if his soul is being pulled in two directions." He turned to his assistants frantically. "Prepare the emergency sedative! We may have no choice but to knock him unconscious if this continues."

Meanwhile, deep within the secluded grotto, Bella's knees scraped against the rocky stream bed as she continued her desperate pleas. The water around her legs grew warmer, almost hot to the touch, and she could swear she heard a faint echo of Chang Hao's voice calling her name through the cave walls.

Please take anything from me but not him. I offer you anything, but save my hubby please. I clasp my hands together, as hot tears streamed down my cheeks.

The water in the stream began to glow with an ethereal light, swirling around Bella's kneeling form as if responding to her desperate offer. The ruby pendant on her chest pulsed with an intense heat, its facets glowing like miniature suns.

Back in the palace infirmary, Emperor Lee Chang Hao's convulsions suddenly ceased. His body went completely still on the bed, his eyes wide and fixed on some distant point beyond the ceiling. Physician Tanaka leaned over him urgently. "Your Majesty? Can you hear me?"

Cheng Mei's voice shook with fear and confusion. "What happened? Why did he stop moving?"

"I don't know," Tanaka admitted, pressing his ear to Chang Hao's chest. "His heart rate has stabilized, but his breathing is shallow. It's as if something just... released him."

In the secluded gorge, Bella felt a sudden rush of warmth spread through her body, starting from the ruby pendant and radiating outward.

*I gasped, clutching the pendant tighter,* "Did it work?" *and then I waited for a sign.*

The moment Bella asked if it had worked, a single beam of sunlight from the cave opening above suddenly intensified, casting a brilliant golden circle on the water directly in front of her. It was as if the very light itself was answering her question.

Back in the palace infirmary, Emperor Lee Chang Hao's breathing deepened into a steady rhythm. His eyes closed peacefully, and the tension left his body as he finally settled into natural sleep. Physician Tanaka let out a sigh of relief, wiping sweat from his brow.

"Thank heavens," Tanaka said quietly to Empress Cheng Mei. "Whatever force was affecting him has subsided. His Majesty is resting peacefully now."

Cheng Mei watched Chang Hao's chest rise and fall evenly, her own breathing calming for the first time in hours. "What do you think caused this? It was like he was fighting against some invisible power."

"I've never seen anything like it," Tanaka admitted honestly.

For some time. I had thank God fervently for my answered prayers. Knowing some how it was answered. Stepped out the water, wore my clothes and cloak and head back into the palace . I go to my room and with a peaceful expression I slept off.

For hours, Bella slept deeply in her room, the peaceful expression on her face a stark contrast to the turmoil of recent days. Her dreams were filled with images of Chang Hao smiling at her, his strong arms wrapping around her as they laughed together in their secret grotto.

Meanwhile, news of the Emperor's sudden improvement spread through the palace like wildfire. Physicians were baffled by his rapid recovery, attributing it to some unknown miracle rather than medical intervention.

Empress Cheng Mei visited him mid-morning, finding him sitting up in bed eating breakfast with renewed appetite. "Your Majesty, you seem entirely restored overnight!" she exclaimed, arranging cushions behind him carefully. "The physicians said your condition was critical yesterday evening."

Chang Hao set down his chopsticks thoughtfully. "I remember feeling... drawn to something last night. A powerful presence calling my name." His gaze drifted toward the window overlooking the palace gardens. "It felt familiar somehow."
