Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 – The Departure

The village faded behind Arjun as the dusty road stretched ahead. With Varun by his side, the familiar fields, rivers, and houses seemed smaller and smaller. Every step felt heavier than the last—not because of distance, but because of what he was leaving behind.

The first hours were quiet. Varun walked silently, letting Arjun take in the world beyond the village.

"You're nervous," Varun said finally. "Good. That means you still care. The moment you stop feeling, you'll lose yourself."

Arjun nodded. "I just… I don't know if I'm ready."

"You'll never feel ready," Varun replied. "Life doesn't wait. You either move forward, or you stay trapped in what you know. And I can promise you… staying won't help anyone. Not even you."

The city appeared as the sun climbed higher in the sky. Tall buildings shimmered in the morning light, and streets teemed with people rushing in all directions. Arjun's chest tightened—fear and excitement mingled into a strange, almost electric feeling.

"Welcome to your future," Varun said, smiling faintly.

Arjun stared at the crowded streets, at the towering skyscrapers, at the endless possibilities. He felt small, invisible, and yet… strangely alive.

The first challenge came almost immediately. A man carrying a heavy load stumbled in the crowd, spilling crates of fruit across the pavement. Instinctively, Arjun jumped forward, catching the crates just before they fell.

Varun's eyebrows raised. "Careful. The city moves fast. It will test you. Your gift… it will help. But only if you learn when to intervene—and when to let things happen."

Arjun nodded silently, understanding the lesson without needing more words.

As the day passed, Arjun marveled at the energy of the city—the noise, the chaos, the endless movement. But amidst it all, a vision flickered in his mind: a future he had not seen before, darker this time. Something—or someone—was watching him.

A shiver ran down his spine. He realized that the city wasn't just full of opportunity. It was full of dangers too… some he could foresee, and some he could not.

That night, as he lay in a small room Varun had arranged, Arjun stared at the ceiling. The city lights glimmered through the window, like stars had fallen to earth.

For the first time in his life, Arjun felt the weight of choice—not just where he would go, but who he would become.

Tomorrow, he would step further into this unknown world. And nothing would ever be the same again.
