Suddenly a dark figure ran past the window, it was not the shadow!
It was something else.
The figure's speed was exactly like the mysterious girl's. He rushed to the window but the figure had disappeared into the woods. Could it be the shadow?
No. He always felt a strange sensation whenever the shadow was around.
A chilling howl rang out in the darkness and this made Evans look out curiously. The moon was out and full and the porter's Mansion stood high opposite their house.
He assumed a wolf must be lingering about so he closed the window and then walked back to the bed.
He glanced at his cracked phone that was lying on the edge of the bed. He could not tell his mother the real reason why his phone had cracked. He will take it to a repair store tomorrow after school and live a normal life.
There is an assurance that Edward and his group will bother him again so there shouldn't be any trouble again, he thought.

The next day, Evans arrived at the university. Even though he was still pondering what had happened yesterday, he promised to focus on class and avoid any problematic situations.
As he headed to the lecture room, gazes fell on him and fingers were pointed at him. He heard whispers from other students but pretended not to.
"He is here!"
"I thought Edward had killed him."
"Do you really believe that?"
"Someone said he and his group had kidnapped four eyes and beaten him up till he died. That can't be his ghost..is it?"
"Beating someone up doesn't mean the basketball court would turn into a ragged space. Something else had happened there, I'm sure of it!"
Evans ignored their chatter.
"Evans! Right?"
Jasmine.
She had caught up with him but he didn't stop; instead, he began walking faster.
"I am sorry for bothering you but I heard a rumor related to you." She continued but he did not reply. "The basketball court...it is total crap now and the school authorities did not even say anything about it. There are blood traces, cracked grounds, and a fallen wall! The only thing I know is that Edward's parents are taking responsibility for it..that is why the school authorities have not issued any notice."
Evans halted and she did too then he turned his gaze to hers. "Do I look like your friend?"
Jasmine furrowed her brows. "Nope. Why do you say that?"
"Because I don't think I need to listen to your talk this morning. Talk to your friends and stay away from me." Evans let out, his tone low but stern.
Jasmine's expression remained the same. "I am just worried about you. You and I are newbies in this university and Edward and his group are already mistreating you. You can speak up if they..
"I don't need your help." He cut in then walked away leaving Jasmine on the spot.
Later that day, the lecture was unusually long. Evans tried his best to focus but most eyes were on him. Moreover, he noticed that Edward and his friends were not in school. They must be seriously injured and must be taking time to recuperate.
But how do their species heal?
He looked around calmly.
His phone was broken but he needed to get an answer as soon as possible. His gaze fell on jasmine that was preoccupied with writing. He hesitated then summoned the courage to speak to her.
"Hey."
She looked at him. "Are you talking to me?"
"I..i need to borrow your phone. Mine is broken, please, it's urgent." He said calmly.
Jasmine picked up her phone from the table and was about to hand it to him but she paused. "Under one condition."
Evans raised an eyebrow. "What?"
"We will go and see the basketball court together. Who knows if the monster will show up again? I'll need someone to protect me." She replied wryly.
Evans kept mute.
Does she know about the fight that happened yesterday?
That is impossible.
"Alright." He collected the phone from her and then handed it back to her. "Help me unlock it..I want to search for something."
She obeyed and gave him the phone back.
Evans searched for a particular sentence.
'How fast do werewolves heal?'
Results came back quickly.
Myths..legend.. folklore.
Werewolves possess supernatural healing abilities to heal faster.
Healing is strongest during a full moon.
Evans widened his eyes. He recalled that the moon was full last night. Edward and his group must have recovered but why did they not come to school? They must be afraid of the mysterious girl, he had not seen her since he had arrived.
"What are you searching for? Can I see?" She questioned from beside him.
Evans quickly shifted away from her and then deleted the search. He locked the phone then handed it back to her.
"Thank you."
Soon, the lecturer closed his notes as time ran out then left. The students started packing their things. Evans remained seated for a while but Jasmine came to his front, her eyes gleaming with anticipation.
"Let's go. Others would get in before us if you continue sitting."
Evans stood up reluctantly then followed her. As they approached the basketball court, the normal sound of bouncing balls and cheerful discussion was gone. It was replaced by the noise of the students.
He and Jasmine forced their way through the crowd calmly. As Evans reached the space, it was worse close up. The metal fence had been torn open and Evans recalled how Edward had been dealt with last night.
The chair and the rope he was tied with last night were gone ,only cracks in the walls and claw marks remained.
"That does not look normal." Jasmine let out, her eyes fixed on the unpleasant scene before her.
"It does to me," Evans replied dryly.
"They said it was a fight...why does it look..
"Can I leave now? I have other important things to do." Evans declared.
