Chapter 26 - Chapter 26. Brushing Past

"Big Sister, I brought a classmate back!" Once again, Yori excitedly opened the door, only to see an empty living room.

The little girl was instantly dumbfounded. Her eyes flicked to the side, and even her sister's shoes were gone.

She went out?

A note was placed on the dining table. Yori picked it up and read it, her expression becoming quite something.

"Yuna and I went out to eat."

Concise and to the point.

So, had she been abandoned by her sister?

This happens time and time again; Yori is going to get angry!

"Leticia's sister isn't home?" the girl invited by Yori asked softly.

Yori nodded and said regretfully, "Yeah, Big Sister and her friend went out to eat."

The cute black-haired girl smiled indifferently, "In that case, do I get to try your cooking, Leticia?"

"Huh? I don't know how to cook, and there aren't many ingredients left at home." Yori shook her head. She would have liked to eat at home, but even the cleverest housewife cannot cook without rice. "That idiot sister, she didn't even tell me she was going out."

"Haha, isn't it a bit bad to talk behind your sister's back?" the black-haired girl asked cheerfully. "I wouldn't dare do that."

"Why is that? Is Leticia's sister scary?"

Leticia nodded with a heavy expression. "Very scary. Super scary."

She would never forget the experience of being hung from a tree by her sister for an entire day just because she ran her mouth off. She truly had no one to turn to for help.

Furthermore, there was a crowd watching as her sister whipped her with a thick arm-sized lash, treating her like a spinning top.

"In short, she's super scary." Leticia shivered. "Let's not talk about it anymore. Let's go eat outside."

"Okay, I know exactly where the good food is around here. It'll be a good chance for you to get familiar with the neighborhood, Leticia."

..."Achoo!" Leticia, squatting in a small alley, sneezed violently. "Who's talking bad about me?"

"There are quite a few people who dislike you," Melanie stated plainly from the side.

Leticia's reputation wasn't exactly good. Melanie wasn't the only one in this world who wanted to destroy her, but those people didn't have Melanie's strength, so all they could do was curse Leticia behind her back.

Just like how Leticia once stabbed a doll inscribed with 'Sword Saint' with a needle.

Both were forms of impotent rage.

"It's different. The kind of badmouthing that makes me sneeze isn't ordinary badmouthing; it has to come from someone close to me." Leticia stroked her chin, thought for a moment, and came up with a suspect. "It's probably that wretched girl Kira."

"Didn't you say your relationship with your sister was pretty good?"

"It's good, yes, but her resentment toward me is considerable." Leticia decided not to delve further into the topic. "When are those little brats going to show up?"

By now, the sky had completely darkened, and the time was approaching eight in the evening.

Leticia and Melanie had come here to wait after finishing dinner. By their reckoning, they had been waiting for about an hour.

"Soon," Melanie replied, glancing at her phone.

At this moment, the two had changed into combat suits specially customized by Melanie's old friend, emphasizing convenience and mystery.

Very thick robes completely covered their bodies, and large hoods made their faces nearly impossible to discern in the darkness.

Not to mention, they also wore masks for extra security.

"Your human equipment really isn't bad," Leticia praised sincerely.

This outfit was much more comfortable to wear than the pile of skirts she had in the Demon Race. Although the robe looked thick, it was actually quite light and breathable.

Beneath the robe was a combat suit that protected almost all vital points of the body. The suit's material was excellent, and its fit was quite good.

Moreover, even if worn daily, others wouldn't notice anything unusual.

The only drawback was that the outfit came with a skirt.

If she truly unleashed herself in a fight, Leticia's long, pale legs would probably be clearly visible to everyone, which made her slightly displeased.

Although, this problem wasn't without a solution.

"There's still time now. Are you really not planning to wear socks?" Melanie asked.

That's right. To protect the women's legs, the human Combat Logistics Department thoughtfully prepared combat-specific long socks.

These socks were completely comparable to other gear in terms of defense, and even surpassed them in aesthetics, making them beloved by many female ability users.

"Absolutely not. I wouldn't wear that stuff even if I died," Leticia gritted out. "Why are mine white stockings and yours black stockings?"

Was this meant to mock Leticia for being too petite?

"Uh, the explanation I received was that your gear is the opposite of your appearance," Melanie explained. "For example, my gear is black, and yours is white."

"So I have to wear all white and be the pretty boy, is that it?" Leticia genuinely wanted to kill those logistics personnel. "Do we have to come up with a name like the Black and White Fiends?"

"That wouldn't be bad."

"...Heh."
