Chapter 32 - Unexplained feeling..

Jay Jay's POV..

There was something different about today.

I couldn't explain it exactly.

Nothing had changed… and yet everything felt slightly off.

Not wrong.

Just… heavier.

The house was quiet again, but this time the silence didn't feel peaceful.

It felt like something was waiting.

I stood near the window, my fingers absentmindedly tracing the ring again, my thoughts drifting somewhere I couldn't fully catch.

Happy.

Yes.

I was.

But underneath that..

There was this strange, restless feeling.

Like I was standing too close to something I didn't fully understand.

"You're thinking too much again."

His voice came from behind me, calm as always.

But this time..

It didn't feel soft.

I turned slowly, my eyes meeting his.

Keifer stood there, his gaze already on me.

Not relaxed.

Not teasing.

Focused.

Sharp.

My heartbeat picked up instantly.

"I always think," I replied, trying to sound normal.

"Not like this."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

He didn't answer immediately.

He just walked closer.

Slow.

Measured.

Each step making the air feel tighter.

"You look like you're trying to figure something out," he said quietly.

"Maybe I am."

"And?"

"And I don't like not knowing things."

A faint smirk appeared on his lips.

"That's going to be a problem."

My brows furrowed slightly. "Why?"

"Because you won't always get answers."

That tone...

It wasn't harsh.

But it wasn't gentle either.

It made something in me shift.

"Are you hiding something?" I asked.

His eyes didn't leave mine.

"Yes."

That..

That caught me off guard.

"You're just admitting that?"

"I don't lie to you."

"Not telling something is still hiding it."

"Maybe."

He stopped right in front of me now.

Too close.

Again.

But this time, it didn't feel soft.

It felt… intentional.

My breath slowed slightly.

"Then tell me," I said.

"Not yet."

"Why?"

"Because you're not ready."

That irritated me.

"I'm not a child, Keifer."

"I know."

"Then stop deciding things for me."

His gaze darkened slightly.

"I don't decide everything," he said quietly.

"You literally announced our engagement without asking me."

"And you said yes."

"I didn't say anything," I shot back.

"Tss!That's not the same as no."

That line again.

But this time, it didn't feel soft.

It felt like he was pushing me.

Testing me.

"You're annoying," I muttered under my breath.

His head tilted slightly.

"Say that again."

I froze.

"What?"

"You heard me."

There was something in his tone now.

Low.

Dangerously calm.

I swallowed, my heart suddenly beating faster for a completely different reason.

"You're annoying," I repeated, but softer this time.

He stepped even closer.

Now there was no space left between us.

"Careful," he murmured.

"Why?" I challenged, even though my voice wasn't as steady as I wanted it to be.

"You're testing me."

"Maybe I want to."

That slipped out before I could stop it.

And the second it did..

I regretted it.

Because the look in his eyes changed.

Completely.

"Don't start something you won't finish," he said quietly. With teasng smirek

My breath hitched.

"I'm not scared of you," I whispered.

"I know."

"Then why are you acting like this?"

"Like what?"

"Like you're..."

I stopped.

Because I didn't have the right word.

He leaned in slightly, his voice dropping.

"Say it."

"…different," I finished.

A small, almost amused exhale left him.

"I've always been like this."

"Not with me."

"Because you are mine."

That..

That hit harder than it should have.

My heart skipped.

"You don't get to say that like it's normal," I said, my voice barely above a whisper now.

"It is for me."

My fingers curled slightly at my sides.

"You're unbelievable."

"And you're still standing here."

Again.

That same pattern.

And the worst part?

He was actually right.

I hadn't moved.

I wasn't moving.

Even now.

My back was almost against the window, his presence surrounding me completely.

"You're too confident," I said.

"You're too easy to read."

"I'm not."

"You are."

His hand lifted slowly, brushing against my jaw, tilting my face just enough so I had to look at him.

My breath completely lost its rhythm.

"You get nervous," he said softly.

"I don't.."

"You do."

His thumb brushed lightly against my cheek.

"And you stay anyway."

That wasn't fair.

That wasn't..

True.

But it was.

And that made it worse.

"Maybe I don't want to leave," I whispered before I could stop myself.

Silence.

For a second..

Everything stilled.

Then something shifted in his expression.

Not softer.

Not harsher.

Just… deeper.

"Then don't," he said quietly.

My heart was racing now, loud, uncontrollable.

The space between us was gone again.

Completely.

And this time...

Neither of us moved.

My fingers tightened slightly against his shirt, my breath uneven.

"Keifer…" I whispered.

"Say it again."

"What?"

"What you said."

I hesitated.

"…I don't want to leave."

His eyes didn't leave mine.

And for a mome

.

I thought he was going to kiss me.

Really thought.

Everything in me stilled, waiting..

But he stopped.

Right there.

Again.

His forehead almost touching mine, his voice barely a whisper now.

"Good."

My breath came out uneven.

"You're doing this on purpose."

"Yes."

"That's unfair."

"I don't play fair."

I let out a shaky breath, half frustrated, half something else entirely.

"You're impossible."

"And you're still here."

I closed my eyes for a second.

Because I didn't have an answer for that anymore.

When I opened them again, nothing had changed.

Except me.

Because this time..

The nervousness didn't feel soft.

It felt Different

But somehow…

I didn't want it to stop.

Before anything he kissed me soft gentle instead of refusing I kissed him back .😘
