Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: The Sovereign’s First True Battle

The Guardian moved first.

A blur—

Despite its massive size.

Its claw came crashing down—

Adrian vanished.

BOOM

The ground shattered where he stood.

"…Fast," Adrian muttered mid-air.

He twisted—

Landing lightly—

Then dashed forward.

Directly toward it.

"…He's insane!" one Hunter shouted.

"Get back!" Seo ordered. "All of you!"

They retreated.

Because this—

Was no longer their fight.

Clash

Adrian closed the distance instantly.

He struck—

CLANG

The dagger hit—

But didn't pierce.

"…Armor-type."

The Guardian swung again.

Adrian ducked—

But the shockwave alone sent him sliding back.

"…Tch."

[HP -12]

"…That hurt."

The creature roared—

And charged again.

Faster.

More aggressive.

Adrian's eyes sharpened.

[Predator Instinct Activated]

Time slowed—

Slightly.

Enough.

He saw it.

The movement.

The pattern.

"…There."

He stepped in—

Not away.

He slid under the attack—

And struck upward—

Targeting the joint.

CRACK

The armor dented.

The Guardian staggered slightly.

"…You can break it!" Seo shouted.

Adrian smirked faintly.

"…Of course."

The ash around him surged.

"…Let's push it further."

Ash Army vs Guardian

"…Rise."

Dozens of evolved Ash Soldiers appeared.

Stronger.

Sharper.

They surrounded the Guardian instantly.

"…Attack."

They moved as one.

Striking—

Climbing—

Binding—

The Guardian roared—

Swinging wildly—

Crushing several instantly.

But more replaced them.

Endless.

Relentless.

"…He's overwhelming it…" one Hunter whispered.

"…No," Seo said quietly.

Her eyes narrowed.

"…He's testing it."

Pressure Rising

The Guardian's body pulsed.

Then—

It changed.

The armor shifted—

Spikes emerged.

Its limbs grew larger.

"…It's evolving?!"

The creature roared again—

Louder.

Stronger.

A shockwave burst out—

Wiping out half the Ash Soldiers instantly.

Adrian skidded back.

"…So you adapt too."

His breathing slowed.

His eyes darkened.

"…Good."

Ash gathered—

Denser than ever before.

"…Then I'll go further."

Awakening

Something inside him responded.

The power he absorbed—

From the parasite.

From the dungeon.

From everything.

It surged.

Violently.

[Condition Met]

[New Skill Awakening…]

The world dimmed.

Sound faded.

Only ash remained.

And him.

"…So this is it…"

His voice echoed—

Deeper.

Different.

[Skill Acquired: Ash Domain (Lv. 1)]

Adrian's eyes opened.

"…Domain."

Ash Domain

The world changed.

The ground—

Turned gray.

The air—

Filled with endless ash.

Everything—

Under his control.

The Guardian froze for a split second.

Instinct.

Fear.

"…Now."

Adrian moved.

Faster than before.

Stronger.

Absolute.

The ash obeyed him completely.

Forming blades.

Chains.

Spikes.

They struck the Guardian from all directions.

Piercing—

Binding—

Restricting.

"…ROOOOAR—!"

It struggled.

But couldn't break free.

"…This ends here."

Adrian appeared in front of it.

Eyes glowing faintly.

"…Kneel."

The ash tightened.

Forcing the massive creature down.

The ground cracked beneath it.

It resisted—

But failed.

It knelt.

Silence fell.

The Hunters stared in disbelief.

"…He made it kneel…"

"…That's not normal…"

Final Strike

Adrian raised his dagger.

Ash gathered around it—

Condensed.

Compressed.

"…Disappear."

He struck.

Straight through the Guardian's core.

This time—

It pierced.

SHATTER

The armor broke.

The core cracked.

The Guardian let out one final roar—

Then—

Collapsed.

Dust.

Ash.

Gone.

Aftermath

Silence.

Complete silence.

Then—

[Boss Defeated: Corrupted Guardian]

[Level Up!]

[Level Up!]

[Level Up!]

[Level: 9 → 12]

[Skill Upgraded: Ash Domain (Lv. 2)]

The ash slowly faded.

The domain disappeared.

Reality returned.

Adrian stood alone.

Unharmed.

Unshaken.

Behind him—

The Hunters couldn't speak.

Seo stared at him.

Long.

Carefully.

"…What…"

She stopped.

Because she already knew.

"…You're not just a Hunter."

Adrian turned slightly.

"…No."

A pause.

"…I'm not."

His gaze returned forward.

Calm.

Cold.

"…I'm something else."

And for the first time—

Everyone felt it.

The difference.

The gap.

The fear.

Because standing before them—

Was not a man climbing levels.

It was something—

That ruled them.
