Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: The Frozen Queen Falls

Snow fell endlessly.

The island was gone.

Replaced by a world of ice.

Lyra stood at its center.

Untouched.

Untouchable.

"…You're already inside my domain," she said softly.

Adrian exhaled slowly.

Black ash coiled around him.

"…Then I'll take it from you."

Opening Clash

They moved at the same time.

Ice spears shot forward—

Hundreds.

From every direction.

Adrian stepped in—

Not back.

Black ash surged—

Forming a rotating barrier.

CRACK—CRACK—CRACK

The spears shattered on impact.

But more came.

Faster.

Sharper.

Stronger.

"…It's endless…" Adrian muttered.

Lyra's voice echoed from everywhere.

"…Of course it is."

A pause.

"…This world feeds me."

Pressure of Frost

The temperature dropped again.

Adrian's movements slowed slightly.

Even his breath—

Froze mid-air.

"…Your ash…"

Lyra appeared behind him.

"…is slowing down."

She struck.

A blade of ice—

Piercing toward his back.

Adrian twisted—

But—

SLASH

Blood spilled.

[HP -21]

He slid across the frozen ground.

"…Tch."

Analysis

Adrian steadied himself.

Eyes focused.

"…Not just ice…"

He clenched his hand—

Black ash responded slower than usual.

"…She's freezing control itself."

Lyra smiled faintly.

"…You figured it out."

A step forward.

"…But too late."

Escalation

The entire domain reacted.

The sky darkened.

A massive structure formed above—

A glacier.

Suspended.

"…Let's end this," Lyra said.

She lowered her hand.

The glacier fell.

Impact

The island shook violently.

The glacier crashed down—

Erasing everything beneath it.

Silence followed.

Cold.

Still.

"…It's over," Lyra whispered.

But—

Crack.

A faint sound echoed.

Then—

BOOM

The glacier exploded from within.

Black ash erupted outward.

Violent.

Unstable.

Adrian stepped out.

Blood on his face.

Eyes darker than before.

"…Not even close."

Turning the Tide

The black ash surged wildly now.

No longer resisting the cold—

But devouring it.

Lyra's expression changed slightly.

"…You adapted…"

Adrian raised his hand.

"…You made a mistake."

A pause.

"…You gave me time."

Black Ash Evolution

The ash pulsed—

Then spread across the domain.

Like a stain.

Corrupting the white.

Turning it gray.

Then black.

Lyra stepped back.

"…Impossible…"

"…This is my domain…"

Adrian walked forward.

"…Not anymore."

Domain Overwrite

The frost cracked.

Shattered.

The sky broke apart.

Snow turned to ash.

The world shifted.

Once again—

Ash Domain

But different.

Darker.

Deeper.

Stronger.

Lyra stood in the middle of it—

Now affected.

Slowed.

Weakened.

"…No…" she whispered.

"…This can't…"

Final Exchange

Adrian didn't hesitate.

He moved instantly.

Appearing in front of her.

Too fast.

Too overwhelming.

Lyra tried to react—

Ice forming—

But slower.

Too slow.

Adrian grabbed her wrist.

Crushed it.

CRACK

She gasped.

"…You…"

Adrian's voice was cold.

"…You lost the moment I adapted."

Black ash surged—

Wrapping around her.

Binding.

Restricting.

Erasing her control.

End of a Sovereign

Lyra struggled.

Power flaring—

But fading.

"…Wait—"

For the first time—

Fear.

"…We're the same—"

Adrian's eyes didn't change.

"…No."

A pause.

"…We're not."

He raised his hand.

Black ash condensed—

Forming a blade.

"…You're just weaker."

Execution

He struck.

Clean.

Absolute.

Lyra's body froze—

Then shattered.

Like ice.

Breaking into nothing.

Silence.

The domain collapsed.

Reality returned.

The island—

Half gone.

The ocean slowly settling.

System Response

[Sovereign Candidate Eliminated]

[Authority Absorbed]

Adrian stood still.

Then—

Power surged into him.

Colder.

Sharper.

Different.

[New Attribute Acquired: Frost Resistance]

[New Skill Acquired: Frost Dominion (Partial)]

Adrian exhaled slowly.

"…So this is what happens."

He looked at his hand.

Black ash formed—

With traces of frost within it.

"…I take everything."

Final Scene

Far away—

Someone smiled.

"…He's growing faster than expected."

Another voice answered.

"…Then it's time."

Silence.

"…Send the others."

Back to Adrian

He turned.

Looking toward the horizon.

Calm.

Cold.

Unstoppable.

"…Next."

Because now—

He understood.

This war—

Would only end—

When everyone else—

Was gone.
