Chapter 4 - CHAPTER FOUR: MARKED AWAKENINGThe air changed.

The air changed.

Not violently.

Not explosively.

But fundamentally.

The moment his fist moved—

The world felt… wrong.

Like something deeper than power had begun to stir.

I didn't move.

Not because I couldn't.

Because something inside me told me

Don't.

The mark on my chest pulsed.

Once.

Twice.

Then—

Everything slowed.

The Iron General's fist, carrying enough force to shatter the arena entirely, tore through the air toward me.

But now…

I could see it.

Every detail.

Every shift of muscle.

Every ripple of force.

"…So this is it," I murmured.

*"No,"* the voice whispered faintly.

For the first time,

It didn't sound amused.

*"…This is only the beginning."*

Something snapped.

Not outside.

Inside.

🩸 MARKED AWAKENING

The mark ignited.

Light and darkness surged at the same time, colliding, intertwining, devouring each other as they spread across my body.

My vision fractured—

Gold.

Black.

Gold.

Black.

Then—

Both.

My breath steadied.

My body stopped trembling.

And the fear that had lingered deep inside me since the moment I was thrown into this world…

Disappeared.

The fist reached me.

I raised my hand—

—and caught it.

"…Too slow."

Silence.

Absolute.

The shockwave that should have followed…

Never came.

The Iron General's eyes widened.

For the first time since he appeared—

He reacted.

"…What?"

I looked up slowly.

Our eyes met.

And I knew he felt it.

That shift.

That difference.

"You said…" I began, my voice quieter now—

But heavier.

"…this ends now."

My grip tightened.

The ground beneath us cracked.

"But you're wrong."

The mark flared again.

The air bent.

"You're just the first."

His expression hardened instantly.

He pulled his arm back violently, breaking free from my grip before swinging again—

—faster. Stronger.

Aiming to crush my skull in a single blow.

This time—

I moved first.

🌑 ABYSSAL STEP

The world flickered.

I disappeared—

—and reappeared above him.

⚡ RIFT BREAKER: WORLD FRACTURE

My strike came down.

Reality split.

A jagged crack tore through the air, screaming as it descended toward him.

The Iron General crossed both arms—

And took it head-on.

BOOM.

The impact shattered the ground beneath him, sending debris flying in all directions. A crater formed instantly, dust and smoke swallowing everything.

For a moment—

Nothing moved.

Then—

A figure stepped out.

Unbroken.

His armor was cracked now.

Slightly.

But his body—

Still standing.

"…So you've crossed into it."

His voice was lower now.

Serious.

"You've stepped into the threshold of Dominion."

I landed lightly, my gaze steady.

Dominion.

So that's what this was.

Not just power.

Control.

Presence.

Authority.

I could feel it now.

Everything around me—

Reacted to me.

The air.

The ground.

Even the fear in the soldiers watching from afar.

"…And yet," he continued, rolling his shoulders slowly, "you're still incomplete."

His body shifted.

The veins beneath his armor burned brighter.

The ground beneath him cracked again—

Deeper.

Stronger.

"I've lived in this realm for years."

He stepped forward.

"And you've barely touched it."

Then he vanished.

Not like me.

Not through shadows.

Through sheer speed.

My eyes widened—

Too late.

BOOM.

His fist slammed into my side, sending me flying across the battlefield again. This time, I didn't crash immediately—

I skipped.

Once.

Twice.

Three times—

Before finally slamming into the broken remains of the arena wall.

Pain exploded through my body.

Even in this state…

That hurt.

I coughed, blood spilling onto the ground.

"…Still stronger."

*"Of course he is"* the voice returned, quieter now.

*"You've awakened… but you haven't accepted it."*

I pushed myself up slowly.

"…Accepted what?"

A pause.

Then—

*"That you are no longer human."*

Silence.

For a brief moment—

Everything inside me stilled.

No anger.

No fear.

No hesitation.

Then—

I exhaled.

"…I figured."

I stepped forward again.

This time—

No hesitation.

No instability.

Just purpose.

The mark pulsed.

But now…

It wasn't fighting me.

It was following me.

"Let's end this."

The Iron General smiled slightly.

"…Finally."

He charged.

So did I.

The distance between us vanished instantly.

His fist came from the right—

Mine from the left.

And when they collided—

BOOM.

The ground beneath us shattered completely.

A shockwave exploded outward, flattening everything in its path.

For a moment—

We stood locked.

Power against power.

Will against will.

Then—

Crack.

A small sound.

But enough.

His arm shifted.

Just slightly.

His balance—

Broken.

My eyes sharpened.

Opportunity.

"Kneel."

👁️ SOVEREIGN'S DECREE

The command fell like judgment.

This time—

It wasn't resisted.

Not fully.

His body dropped—

Just a fraction.

Just enough.

And that was all I needed.

🌑 ABYSSAL STEP

I vanished.

Reappeared behind him.

⚔️ ABYSSAL EXECUTION: NIGHTFALL CLEAVE

Darkness swallowed the battlefield.

A single line carved through the air.

Time paused.

Then—

It ended.

Silence.

The Iron General stood still.

Unmoving.

A thin line formed across his body.

His eyes lowered slightly.

"…So this… is your answer."

The line deepened.

"…Good."

A faint breath escaped him.

"…Then grow stronger."

And with that—

His body split.

Falling apart in two clean halves.

The battlefield fell silent.

No cheers.

No screams.

Just… stillness.

I stood there, breathing slowly.

The power faded slightly.

But not completely.

Not like before.

This time—

It stayed.

Controlled.

Stable.

Mine.

High above—

The king watched.

And for the first time—

He didn't look cold.

He looked…

Concerned.
