A couple of years passed after the birth of each species.
In the quiet rhythm of the young world, the differences between them slowly began to appear. Not just in strength, but in mind, instinct, intelligence, and power. Like seeds planted in different soils, each species began growing in its own strange direction.
The pair of demons were the first to truly claim land as their own. With frightening efficiency, they shaped their territory and raised a magnificent dark castle from the heavy mana of the south. It rose from the barren land like a black crown, tall and proud, as if the land itself had decided to grow fangs.
Their instinct for domination was impressive but their instinct for reproduction…not so much.
Despite their terrifying strength and perfect compatibility with dark mana, the demon pair seemed to be having a rather embarrassing amount of difficulty producing offspring. The world waited patiently, but the demons themselves seemed mildly confused by the situation.
Far to the northern east of them, however, the humans had absolutely no such problems.
The human pair were the first to have children, and a couple of them... Suspiciously quickly.
Compared to the other species, humans were… strange. Weak bodies, fragile lifespans, and absolutely zero awareness of the mana constantly floating around them. While the dragons, demons, and elves practically breathed mana like air, the humans walked through it like people unaware they were standing in the rain.
And yet… they had two terrifying advantages.
The first was their reproduction instinct, which could only be described as aggressive enthusiasm, while the second was their intelligence.
Human intelligence developed far faster than the others. They observed, adapted, experimented, and learned with a speed that was almost unnatural.
But of course, the world balanced things out.
Humans aged quickly... Very quickly.
While the other three species might not live for just centuries, but even longer and longer if left alone, a human life flickered like a short candle in comparison.
Still, candles can light many more candles.
And humans were already doing exactly that.
Meanwhile, far to the west on the dragon continent, the dragon pair had achieved their own milestone.
Two months earlier, they had laid their first egg.
A large shining egg resting carefully in a huge cave among the highest mountain peaks, but It would likely take another year before it finally cracked open.
Dragons were patient creatures and their children clearly inherited that trait before even being born.
In the ancient northern forests, the elf pair had taken a much calmer approach to life. With their deep connection to mana and nature, they built a graceful wooden shelter hidden among towering trees.
Over the years, they had also learned something very important.
Something extremely embarrassing.
The strange green-haired woman they had once looked at with pure disgust…
…was actually Sylvaria, the Origin Spirit of Nature. Realizing this had nearly killed them from shame. They apologized repeatedly, bowing so much that even the forest spirits started feeling awkward watching them.
Sylvaria, however, had already forgotten the incident completely. To her, it was nothing more than a funny memory.
Unfortunately, Zephyra had not. and she continued bringing it up whenever she needed a good laugh.
Far away on the southern edge of the dragon continent, the land burned with endless volcanic fire. This was where Pyrelia, the Origin Spirit of Fire, had settled.
She seemed quite happy there.
From time to time, she would glance eastward toward the demon territory across the ocean.
For reasons that remained deeply questionable… She found the demon pair adorable.
Meanwhile, the vast oceans of the world belonged to Maristella. She chose the deep sea that separated the human and demon lands from the dragon continent as her primary domain.
From time to time she visited the other Origin Spirits, especially Sylvaria, whom she somehow insisted on treating like a younger sister.
Despite the fact that no one had actually agreed on any birth order.
Above them all, at the north pole, lay the quiet land of their master.
A small continent that looked more like a giant island, resting in peaceful silence at the center of the world.
None of the Origin Spirits could visit there freely without their master's consent.
During these years, the world itself also continued to grow.
Animals and birds began appearing across the continents, each adapting to the lands they were born in. Some were gentle creatures grazing in herds across the plains. Others were predators, sharp-toothed and restless.
The differences grew especially clear near the natural border between the silver moon and the crimson moon. There, a vast desert stretched across the land.
In those southern regions, animals became harsher. More aggressive. More violent. The absence of sunlight and the eerie glow of the crimson moon seemed to twist their instincts.
Further north, the creatures remained more balanced but not less dangerous.
And so the world slowly moved forward.
A world where humans would one day build kingdoms and empires. Where demons would grow into a feared and dominating race. Where the silver-haired elves would be known as High Elves, rare and noble beings tied deeply to magic. And where dragons would stand above all as the most powerful and deadly species in existence.
But none of that truly mattered. Because the natural enemy of these species…
Was never each other.
---
I crossed my arms while lying lazily on my couch, staring up at the sky above me.
Well… not exactly the sky.
More like the endless ceiling of my little sanctuary at the north pole. The place where everything began and where I had decided to stay while watching the world slowly grow.
And right now… I was not pleased.
My eyebrows slowly pulled together as I felt something in the fabric of existence itself.
Two very large existences that had appeared a couple of months ago, emerging from absolutely nothing.
Just like me and... him
I let out a long breath. Honestly… I had zero interest in them. Meeting the first one was enough... and he was kind of... cute?
While these two? Something about them gave me a very unpleasant feeling.
The kind of feeling that tells you: "Maybe just… don't go over there."
So I didn't.
As long as they stayed in their corners of existence and minded their own business, I had no reason to interfere. After all, they were probably aware of me as well.
And if they were smart… They would stay far away.
Meanwhile, the one I had already met seemed to be progressing much faster than I expected. A very different personality compared to mine.
While I preferred sitting back and letting life slowly reveal itself. He apparently preferred grabbing the entire forest and yelling:
"Grow faster."
His species had already started building cities, kingdoms, structures. And from what I could sense, he had even revealed himself to them directly.
To them, he wasn't some distant mystery. He was their absolute one.
And they served him accordingly. A rather efficient arrangement, if I was being honest.
A faint smile crossed my face.
"Not a bad decision…"
Meanwhile, the two newer existences had apparently taken inspiration from him. they will probably quickens theirs too.
I, on the other hand… slowly stretched my arms above my head.
"…prefer letting things take their time."
After all, watching things unfold naturally was far more interesting for me.
And if my creations eventually figured things out on their own… That would be far more entertaining than holding their hands like a babysitter for the next thousands of years.
I closed my eyes for a moment. The world continued turning. Civilizations will start eventually.
I opened one eye slightly.
"…This universe is going to be noisy."
Then I closed it again.
And went back to relaxing on my couch.
