Silence settled over what was left of the battlefield.
The forest was gone. The ground had collapsed into itself, leaving nothing but fractured earth and lingering energy that hadn't fully faded.
No one moved.
Not at first.
Thor stood slightly forward, Mjolnir still in his hand, his breathing steadying but not calm. His eyes moved between them—between the two who had just arrived, and the one who hadn't stepped back.
Odin.
Ancient One.
And Lord.
Odin's presence filled the space without effort.
"You have gone far beyond what was necessary," Odin said.
Lord met his gaze.
"…Necessary for who?" he asked.
"I wasn't the one who started any of this. I stepped in because something was already out of control."
He gestured slightly toward where the Hulk had been.
"If anything, I kept it from getting worse."
Thor shifted slightly but said nothing.
"You act without understanding the weight of what you are doing," Odin said. "That alone makes you dangerous."
Lord shook his head slightly.
"No," he said. "What makes something dangerous is acting without knowing what you're dealing with."
He looked between Odin and the Ancient One.
"I've been watching this world since I got here. None of you had control over that situation. You were reacting."
A pause.
"I wasn't."
"Confident."
The word came from the side.
Loki stood there now, as if he had always been part of the scene.
Thor turned immediately.
"Loki."
"Brother," Loki replied lightly, before his gaze shifted to Lord.
Measured. Curious.
"You speak like someone who already understands more than he should," Loki said.
Lord glanced at him.
"…And you're listening like someone trying to catch up."
A faint smile touched Loki's expression.
"Then perhaps you could help with that."
"You were not summoned," Odin said.
"No," Loki replied calmly. "But I am here."
His eyes flicked back to Lord.
"And I believe this concerns Asgard just as much as Midgard."
Odin didn't argue that.
The Ancient One spoke quietly.
"You intervene, but not to protect," she said. "Not to destroy either."
Her gaze remained steady on Lord.
"You act because you're trying to understand."
Lord nodded slightly.
"…Yeah. That's part of it."
He looked around at the ruined landscape.
"But it's more than that."
"Then explain it," Odin said.
Lord didn't hesitate.
"I don't belong here," he said. "Not in the way you do. This place doesn't follow the same rules I'm used to—but it's not random either."
He gestured outward.
"There's something tying it together. Not obvious, but it's there."
He looked directly at Odin.
"And something above it."
Loki's eyes sharpened.
"Above it?" he repeated. "Above realms? Above Asgard?"
Lord met his gaze.
"…Yeah."
"There are higher forces," Thor said. "But they are not meant to be interfered with."
Lord shrugged slightly.
"That doesn't really mean anything," he said.
"If something exists, it can be reached. If it can be reached, it can be understood."
A pause.
"And if it can be understood… it can be used."
"That is a dangerous way to think," Loki said.
Lord glanced at him.
"…It's a practical one."
Odin stepped forward.
"You speak lightly of things that could unravel entire realms."
"I'm not speaking lightly," Lord replied. "I'm being direct."
He took a step forward.
"You're worried about what happens if I keep going. I get that."
A pause.
"But I'm not the only one who's going to notice something like this."
His gaze shifted briefly.
"You already have."
The Ancient One didn't deny it.
Loki spoke again, quieter this time.
"And if you find it," he said, "this 'source' you're looking for…"
He tilted his head slightly.
"…what do you plan to do with it?"
Lord didn't rush his answer.
"…Depends on what it is."
He looked between all of them.
"But if it's what I think it is—then it's not something that should just be left alone."
"You're going to cause a war," Thor said.
Lord looked at him.
"Then it was already coming."
Silence followed.
"You do not fear what you might find," the Ancient One said.
Lord gave a small breath.
"…No."
Odin's voice lowered.
"If you continue down this path, you will draw attention from forces even I do not take lightly."
Lord held his gaze.
"…Good."
A pause.
"But let's not pretend that's avoidable."
Loki watched him carefully now.
"…Then the question isn't whether it happens," Loki said quietly.
"…it's who's ready when it does."
Lord glanced at him.
"…Exactly."
Odin stepped forward.
"This ends here."
Lord looked between all of them.
Thor.
Odin.
The Ancient One.
Loki.
"…No," he said.
"Not here."
A pause.
"But I'm not pushing it right now."
He stepped back.
"For now."
And disappeared.
Silence returned.
Loki exhaled lightly.
"…Well," he said.
"That could have gone worse."
Thor didn't respond.
Odin's gaze remained fixed on where Lord had been.
And the Ancient One—
Was already thinking ahead.
