Chapter 3 - chapter 1 part 2

Hearing about the monsters appearing in their world, both Adrian and Elena fell into a brief silence.

They knew that if something like that appeared, it wouldn't be impossible to deal with. Governments existed. Armed forces existed. Situations like this—no matter how strange—would eventually be contained.

The ones who would suffer first would be civilians. After all, this wasn't a place where people carried weapons freely. If a monster appeared right in front of them, the only thing most people could do was run.

Elena's thoughts moved along a similar line. If things really reached that point, she would have to prepare in advance. It might be possible to get a few weapons through her family's connections—if they were lucky, even firearms. As for licenses, that wouldn't matter much. Once something like this started happening, no one would care about regulations.

Across from them, Seraphine watched quietly.

For a moment, she said nothing. Her gaze lingered briefly, a faint amusement in her eyes. Then, almost absentmindedly, she reached for another snack. A thought crossed her mind—should she tell them? That weapons like those wouldn't be very useful once magic began to take root.

No… it was better to let them adjust first.

She took a bite, chewing slowly before speaking, as if the topic wasn't particularly important.

"You two are thinking too seriously," she said lightly. "At least you have something like rebirth."

She added it with a small shrug, as if recalling something vague.

"It's not like my world—if someone dies there, they're just gone somewhere. Even I don't know where."

She glanced at them briefly.

"So even if things get a little messy, it's not going to affect your love story."

Hearing her last line, Elena felt a quiet sense of relief—if she could stay with Adrian, then even something like an approaching disaster didn't seem that frightening.

Adrian, however, focused on a different part of her words. Rebirth. Was she stating it as fact, or just repeating what people in their world believed? The uncertainty lingered, but he chose not to question it.

Elena straightened slightly, the earlier relief still lingering but now mixed with a more focused energy.

"Then what exactly do you want us to do?" she asked, her voice steady but carrying a hint of urgency. "If things are going to get worse, you didn't bring us here just to warn us."

Seraphine glanced at her, still holding the snack between her fingers, as if the question had been expected.

"Nothing complicated," she said. "Just go to my world."

She paused, then added more plainly,

"Things there aren't stable right now. You'll run into problems whether you look for them or not."

Her gaze shifted between them.

"When that happens, deal with it."

Another bite.

"And if everything goes well," she said casually, "you'll get stronger… and after that, just live peacefully. Even if there are a few other girls competing for him."

As she said that, Adrian felt a slight chill run down his back.

Without reacting outwardly, he quickly shifted the conversation.

"…What kind of world is it?" he asked, as if nothing had happened.

Seraphine didn't seem to mind the change.

"It's a bit dry," she replied, taking another bite. "But with magic around, people manage just fine. There are gods and spirits as well…"

She paused briefly, then added with a faint smile,

"Of course, they're not as good as me."

Adrian chose not to comment.

"There's also a Demon Queen," she continued, almost casually. "She's planning to take over the world."

A small shrug followed.

"If you feel like it, you can stop her… or just marry her. That works too."

Elena's expression sharpened immediately.

"Then we should just eliminate her," she said without hesitation.

Seraphine glanced at her, unimpressed.

"It's not that simple," she said. "She's skilled, experienced, and has lived far too long to be taken down easily."

With that, Seraphine set the snack aside and stood up, stretching lightly as if she had finally made a decision.

"Anyway," she said, clapping her hands once, "that's enough talking."

Her gaze settled on them.

"Get ready. I'll send you over."

Adrian hesitated for a second before speaking again.

"Can we go back first? Just for a bit. There are a few things I'd rather bring along."

She didn't even think about it.

"No need. I believe you can manage without them."

Adrian stared at her, clearly not convinced.

"What about equipment? Or… skills? And how are we supposed to come back?"

Seraphine exhaled quietly, as if he had just become slightly more troublesome than expected.

"You really are demanding," she muttered.

For a moment, she seemed ready to ignore him. Then she paused, thinking.

"Fine."

Her expression shifted slightly as she lifted her hand.

"Let's see… something good enough, but not strong enough for me to regret."

A faint glow formed in the air before two weapons took shape—

a sword and a staff.

Both Adrian and Elena instinctively reached toward the sword.

Seraphine didn't stop Elena. Instead, she grabbed Adrian's hand, a faint smile forming.

"With your weak arms and legs," she said lightly, "it's better if you don't think about becoming a warrior."

Adrian paused, then slowly lowered his hand and took the staff instead, clearly not pleased.

"…That feels a little biased."

Seraphine watched them for a moment before speaking.

"The sword," she said, her gaze resting on Elena, "will strengthen your body."

Elena's expression sharpened slightly.

"It enhances your strength, speed, and reaction. There are a few more effects—you can figure those out yourself."

A brief pause.

"And it will allow you to push beyond your normal limits for short periods."

Elena tightened her grip on the blade.

"…I see."

Then Seraphine turned to Adrian.

"The staff is more suited for you."

Adrian didn't look convinced.

"It will let you heal," she continued. "That's quite a big deal, even in my world."

Another pause.

"It will also store your excess magic."

Adrian glanced at it again.

"…That sounds better."

With another flick of her fingers—

two rings appeared and slipped onto their hands.

"Storage rings," she said. "Can't have an adventure without them."

The rings settled into place on their fingers.

"Now let me give you your skills."

Seraphine looked at Elena.

"Perfume creation."

Light gathered around her and settled into her body without resistance.

"You'll be able to extract scents and turn them into usable blends."

Elena's expression tightened slightly as the meaning settled in. It wasn't strength or speed—but it was structured, something she could apply.

Then Seraphine turned to Adrian.

"Water magic."

The glow around him was simpler, sinking in quickly.

No further explanation followed.

After all, the meaning was obvious.

Seraphine lowered her hand, as if the matter was already finished.

"That's all you're getting," she said lightly. "Figure out the rest yourselves."

A faint pause followed before she added, almost as an afterthought,

"I'll send instructions when needed."

Adrian frowned slightly. "Instructions?"

Seraphine gave a small, almost amused smile.

"Call them missions, if that helps you understand."

Before he could respond, the space beneath them began to glow again.

The same circular pattern formed at their feet, light spreading outward.

"No need to worry," she continued calmly, already losing interest. "You'll be sent somewhere safe enough to start your journey."

The light intensified.

"And try to be less serious," she added.

The glow flared and the world vanished.
