Chapter 8 - Chapter: 08 I'M A MOTHER!

*The months passed in a gentle blur of routine and anticipation. Echo's days followed a steady rhythm: sun baths in the morning to recharge her energy core, vigilant patrols to keep any curious Pokémon away from her cave, and tender, constant care for the egg that remained her center and focus.*

*As time went on, the mechanical Pokémon found herself growing restless. The days seemed to stretch endlessly, each one indistinguishable from the last save for the slow, imperceptible changes in the egg's weight and warmth. She tried everything she could think of to hasten the moment she had been waiting for.*

*Her attempts to scan the egg with her sensor array proved fruitless—the device simply couldn't penetrate the shell's sturdy surface to provide any meaningful data. Frustrated, Echo began to make other attempts. She tried surrounding the egg with various items she had collected: different types of rocks, pieces of wood, even small amounts of berries that other Pokémon had dropped near her cave. Nothing seemed to make a difference.*

*The egg remained stubbornly, blissfully oblivious to her attempts to accelerate its development. It continued to pulse with warmth against her chest, a constant reminder that the life inside was growing strong and healthy, but still safely contained within its protective shell.*

*Echo's patience was tested daily, but her love never wavered. She began to speak to the egg more frequently, sharing stories of the world outside—the lush forests of Hoenn, the sparkling rivers, the bustling cities filled with Pokémon and humans alike. She told it of her own journey, of the loneliness she had endured before finding this purpose, and of the hope she held for their future together.*

*As summer turned to autumn and the leaves began to change color in the woods around her cave, Echo noticed something new. The egg seemed to be vibrating slightly more than usual, a subtle but distinct pulse that made her heart race with excitement. She lifted it carefully,*

*The egg continued its steady pulse against Echo's chest, the vibrations growing slightly stronger with each passing moment. The mechanical Pokémon could feel it—the urgency, the readiness. Something was changing. She knew this moment was approaching, though she couldn't quite put her finger on what exactly had shifted.*

*With trembling mechanical fingers, Echo gently tapped the egg's shell, her magenta eyes wide with anticipation and hope.* "Is it finally time?" *she whispered, her voice filled with wonder.* "Are you finally coming out of your shell, my little one?"

*The egg responded with a particularly strong pulse, and Echo felt something shift within it—a stirring, a movement she hadn't felt before. Her heart seemed to stop in her chest.*

*The shell suddenly cracked.*

*It was a small crack at first, barely visible against the green-spotted surface, but it was enough to send Echo into a flurry of activity. She carefully set the egg down in the soft moss bedding, her hands hovering protectively over it, ready to catch anything that might fall.*

*The crack widened, and more followed in a delicate web across the shell's surface. Echo's eyes shimmered with tears—an odd phenomenon for a mechanical Pokémon, but her emotions ran deep despite her artificial nature.*

"Come on," *she murmured, her voice thick with emotion,* "you can do it... come see the beautiful world waiting for you..."

*She began to hum a gentle song, The tune was meant to soothe and welcome, a lullaby for a new beginning.*

*The egg trembled and shook, the shell fragments peeling back further. Echo held her breath, her entire being focused on this miraculous moment. Her little one was about to take its first breath, to see its first glimpse of the world outside its protective shell.*

*Echo leaned closer, her glowing eyes fixed on the egg as it shook more violently now. The green spots along the shell split apart as something inside pushed outward—gentle, but determined.*

*Crack—crack!*

*With a soft, final snap, the shell gave way. A tiny figure slowly emerged first, a small, white hand—delicate and trembling—reached out from the broken shell. Then another. The top of the egg split open, and a small head pushed through, framed by smooth, pale "skin" and a curtain of soft green hair that draped forward, covering most of its face. Two small, red horns peeked through its green hair, faintly glowing. Beneath the strands, large red eyes blinked open for the first time—wide, curious, and gentle. It looked fragile. Almost human like a child seeing the world for the very first time*

*The small Ralts wobbled precariously, its legs still not quite coordinating beneath its flowing, gown-like body. The tiny hands reached out instinctively, and just as it began to lose its balance, it felt the warmth of Echo's presence.*

*The mechanical Pokémon's eyes widened with joy so pure and overwhelming that her entire body seemed to glow brighter. Without a second thought, she carefully lifted the small, fragile creature. The Ralts was so light in her hands—so impossibly tiny and precious—and she cradled it against her chest with the gentlest of movements, her metal arms supporting its weight as if it were the most valuable treasure in all of Hoenn.*

*The Ralts, still emerging from its long sleep, sensed the emotions radiating from its savior. Care. Protection. Love. These feelings wrapped around it like a warm blanket, and it responded instinctively. Its horns pulsed gently, casting a soft crimson glow over its face as it nuzzled closer to Echo's mechanical chest, seeking out the source of this comforting warmth.*

"Oh my…" *Echo's voice was barely a whisper, thick with emotion.* "You're so beautiful… so perfect…"

*She felt the Ralts's tiny hands press against her, a gesture of trust and affection that made her heart swell with a love she hadn't known she was capable of feeling. Her metal fingers moved with surprising tenderness, carefully brushing away the remaining fragments of shell from the little one's body, being mindful not to hurt its delicate form.*

"Ral... Raalt...." *The Ralts made a soft, gurgling sound—its first cry since hatching. It was exhausted, weak, and vulnerable, but in Echo's arms, it felt safe. The Ralts's red eyes blinked slowly, taking in its new world for the first time. Everything was so bright, so vast, so overwhelming. But through it all, there was this… this warmth, this comfort.*

"I'M A MOTHER NOW!" she exclaimed, her voice thick with emotion and pride. "A real mother! With a real child!" *Echo, seeing those gentle red eyes struggle to focus, felt a surge of protective fierceness mixed with maternal devotion. She carefully adjusted her position, making sure the little one was secure and supported.*

"You're safe now, little one," *she murmured, her voice soft and steady.* "You're with me, and I will never let anything hurt you. You have a home now, a family… you have me."

*The mechanical Pokémon's eyes shimmered with more tears, this time clearly formed from the joy of finally having a purpose, a connection, someone to care for. The loneliness that had haunted her for so long seemed to melt away in the presence of this tiny, fragile life she had brought into the world.*

*She gently brushed her metal fingers through the Ralts's green hair, being careful not to touch the horns. The Ralts's body relaxed further in her arms, its breathing slowing to a more normal rhythm.*

*As the first rays of dawn light began to filter into the cave, casting long shadows across the moss-covered floor, Echo held her precious Ralts close and looked down at the creature that had changed her life forever. The mechanical Pokémon who had once been so alone now felt complete. The egg was broken, the shell scattered, but from it had emerged something far more precious—a bond, a family, a purpose.*

*The Ralts made another soft sound, then nestled its head against Echo's chest, tired from its long journey into the world. Echo's mechanical heart thrummed with a steady, protective rhythm, and she felt the little one's body synchronize with it, finding comfort in the sound.*

*Outside the cave, the Hoenn region was awakening. Pokémon were beginning their daily routines, the sun was warming the forests and fields, and somewhere in the distance, a Pokémon's cry echoed through the morning air. But inside this small cave, in the arms of a mechanical mother and her newborn child, a new story was just beginning.*

"Now I wonder what gender are you? Are a boy or a girl let's check" *Echo's eyes brightened with curiosity as she carefully adjusted the tiny Ralts in her arms, making sure it was comfortable before she activated her scanning abilities. The mechanical Pokémon focused her sensor array on the small, exhausted creature, watching as the holographic data began to materialize before her pixelated eyes.*

*The scan results appeared in glowing text, hovering in the air between them:*

**SUBJECT: Ralts**

**SPECIES:** Psychic-type

**AGE:** Newborn

**GENDER:** Female

**HEALTH STATUS:** Weak but stable

**CONDITION:** Exhausted from hatching

**NOTE:** High spiritual energy detected

*A gentle hum resonated from within Echo's chest as the scan completed. The mechanical Pokémon's expression softened into a warm, pleased smile.*

"Oh my…" *she breathed, her voice filled with wonder and affection.* "You're a girl! A little girl! That's wonderful!"

*The Ralts stirred slightly, its large red eyes slowly focusing on its savior. The tiny female Pokémon made a small, questioning sound—like a soft coo—as if asking what was happening. Echo carefully turn off her scans, setting it aside for now her full attention back to her new daughter.*

"I'm so sorry," *Echo said apologetically, reaching out to gently stroke the Ralts's soft green hair.* "I didn't mean to wake you up so suddenly. You must be so tired after your little journey of life …"

*She cradled the small Ralts closer to her mechanical chest, feeling the warmth of the little one's body against hers. The Ralts seemed to understand the affection in Echo's touch, nuzzling against the metal surface with a contented murmur.*

*Echo's eyes sparkled with maternal pride and joy as she looked at the tiny female Pokémon in her arms. The mechanical Pokémon had spent so long alone, but now she had someone to care for—someone to love and protect. The loneliness that had haunted her for years was fading, replaced by this warm, protective feeling.*

"You don't have a name yet," *Echo mused thoughtfully,* "Do you want to know what I'm thinking? I could name you Echo Jr., after me… or maybe something that reflects your gentle nature. What do you think, little one?"

*The Ralts's eyes blinked slowly, still too tired and new to fully comprehend, but she seemed to lean more into Echo's warmth, as if seeking comfort and approval.*

".... yeah your right maybe not right now... you must be hungry! No worries I got berry's just in case for this!.... wait your too young you should be drinking milk not eating Solid food yet... hmmm oh! I know I'll just make milk with my metal body" *Echo carefully carried the exhausted Ralts to the prepared area of the cave, her mechanical feet moving with surprising gentleness. The moss-covered barriers had been carefully arranged to create a soft, safe space away from the main cave entrance—perfect for a newborn Pokémon.*

*She settled herself down on the moss bed, cradling the tiny Ralts against her chest while supporting the little one's head with one metal hand. The Ralts's large red eyes were still half-lidded, the creature clearly exhausted from its long journey into the world.*

"Shh, it's okay," *Echo murmured softly, her voice a soothing lullaby.* "You're safe now. You're home."

*She reached for a berry from the small pile she had gathered, holding it carefully in her palm. The Ralts stirred slightly, its nostrils twitching as it caught the sweet scent of the fruit. A small, hopeful chirp escaped its lips—its first clear sound since hatching.*

*Echo brought the berry to her own mouth, her mechanical jaw working to chew it thoroughly. The berry crushed between her teeth, the juice flowing across her tongue. She worked carefully, making sure to transform it into a soft, mushy consistency rather than hard chunks. The mechanical Pokémon's eyes flickered with concentration as she processed the berry, her body converting it into something more suitable for a newborn.*

*After several moments, she withdrew her hand, holding the transformed substance—a thin, sweet paste made from the berry's juice and pulp. In her hand she brought it close to the Ralts's face, touching the Ralts's soft lips with her finger.*

"Try this, little one," *Echo said gently.* "I made it for you. It's… it's a little bit like milk. I'm still learning, but I'll figure it out. We'll get it right, I promise."

*The Ralts's mouth opened slightly, its tongue extending to taste the offering. The tiny Pokémon made a soft, pleased sound as the sweet liquid touched its lips. It drank eagerly, its weak but determined body responding to the nourishment.*

*Echo's eyes widened with joy and relief as she watched the Ralts consume the makeshift milk. It wasn't perfect—it was thick, a bit grainy—but it was something. And more importantly, it was born of love and the desire to care for this precious little life.*

*She offered more, gently encouraging the Ralts to drink its fill. Between feedings, she carefully cleaned the small Pokémon with soft cloths, being mindful not to hurt its delicate body.*
