Chapter 227 - Chapter 4: Rule Rewrite

The air felt tight again.

Not from danger—

but from anticipation.

Everyone watched Takeru.

Because this wasn't a fight.

This was control.

Takeru lifted his hand slightly.

"Kogane."

The small skull-shaped shikigami popped into existence instantly, spinning once with its usual bright energy.

"Yes, Takeru!"

Takeru didn't hesitate.

"I would like to add two rules."

A pause.

"Substitution Rule."

Kogane hovered closer, attentive.

"Rule: A player may exit the Culling Game by expending 100 points and designating a substitute player to enter the colony in their place."

The group reacted immediately.

Higuruma's eyes sharpened.

"…That allows controlled withdrawal."

Kirara nodded.

"…And replacement without destabilizing the system…"

Hakari grinned.

"…That's huge."

Megumi exhaled slightly.

"…That means we can get Tsumiki out."

Takeru continued without breaking rhythm.

"Second rule."

Kogane tilted slightly.

"Colony Movement Rule."

"…Players are permitted to freely enter and exit colonies."

Silence.

Then—

Ryu let out a low whistle.

"…You just broke the map."

Uro stared at Takeru.

"…That removes territorial confinement…"

Yuta nodded slowly.

"…No more isolation between colonies…"

Yuji's eyes lit up.

"…We can actually regroup properly now…"

Kashimo smirked.

"…So no more waiting around."

Higuruma spoke quietly.

"…This shifts the entire structure of the game…"

Kogane spun once in place.

"Processing…"

A pause.

The air itself felt like it was listening.

Then—

"100 points required per rule."

Takeru didn't blink.

"Approved."

Kogane brightened.

"Rules accepted!"

The world responded.

Not violently.

Not loudly.

But fundamentally.

Something invisible unlocked.

Barriers loosened.

Pathways opened.

Kirara looked up slightly.

"…The colony borders…"

Hakari laughed.

"…Yeah… they're not walls anymore."

Megumi clenched his fist slightly.

"…We can move."

Yuji grinned.

"…We can actually move."

Hana looked at Takeru.

Quietly.

"…You really just changed everything…"

Ryu stretched his arms slightly.

"…Now this is getting interesting."

Uro crossed her arms.

"…The game just became unpredictable."

Kashimo's grin sharpened.

"…Good."

Higuruma adjusted his stance.

"…Then the next phase begins."

Takeru lowered his hand.

Calm as always.

"…Confirmed."

Because now—

they weren't trapped inside the Culling Game anymore.

They were moving through it.
