Chapter 5 - The party of humiliation and power

Everywhere was beautifully decorated, filled with elites.

Jessica walked in, her hand looped through Martin's arm.

The crowd began to whisper.

"She's so beautiful… who is she?"

"Her dress must be from a special designer."

"That necklace must be worth millions."

Jessica smiled softly as she walked past them. She and Martin greeted their guests one after the other.

I was at home, scrolling through my phone, when I heard a car horn outside my small rented apartment.

I peeked through the window and saw a man stepping out of an expensive car.

He looked so handsome… fresh… like every woman's dream. His shirt wasn't fully buttoned, exposing part of his chest.

He looked familiar.

Then he looked up and waved at me with a smile.

I froze.

"Thompson?!"

I couldn't believe my eyes.

I rushed outside, still in shock.

"Thompson, is that really you?" I asked.

"Yes, Agnes," he replied with a soft smile.

"What are you doing here? How do you know where I live? Wait… are you stalking me?"

He looked unbothered.

"Stalk you? I can access anything I want, anytime, any day. I don't need to stalk you."

I frowned.

"Who are you… and why are you here?"

"You'll soon find out who I am," he said calmly. "And I'm here to ask you to be my date for a birthday party."

I hesitated.

"Your date? I… I don't"

He cut me off.

"Please, don't say no."

He looked so sincere… so irresistible.

"Okay, Thompson," I finally said.

I quickly went inside to change. Luckily, I already had a dress.

I put on my gown, heels, and a shiny silver purse.

When I stepped out, he stared at me, completely lost.

"You look beautiful… like an angel," he said softly.

But …

I look confused

"Let's get your hair done."

He opened the car door, and I got in.

We drove to a quiet, private salon.

"Welcome, Mr. Thompson," the staff greeted respectfully.

"Make her even more stunning," he said, winking at me.

I sat down while they worked on my hair, trying different styles until the last one.

I stared at myself in the mirror.

I looked… breathtaking.

I didn't even know I could be this beautiful.

We arrived at the party, and it was still in full swing.

The organizer was introducing the elites present.

"…and we also invited Thompson Dave"

Murmurs spread across the crowd.

"The great Thompson Dave?"

"Wow… we must introduce our company to him!"

"But he's not here…"

Suddenly, the doors opened.

Thompson and I walked in together, as if we owned the entire event.

"Oh my God… she's stunning."

"Compared to Jessica, she's a goddess!"

Jessica turned and took a closer look.

Her expression changed instantly.

It was me.

Disappointment flashed across her face.

Martin stood frozen, his mouth slightly open in shock.

"How… how is she this stunning?" he muttered, staring at me.

For the first time, Jessica felt threatened.

She moved closer to Martin.

"Why are you staring at her like I don't exist?" she snapped.

But her eyes shifted to Thompson.

"The man beside her… is that Mr. Thompson Dave? How did she even meet someone like him? Even I couldn't get an appointment…"

She scoffed.

"Maybe she slept her way up."

They approached us.

"Welcome, Mr. Thompson," Martin said, attempting a handshake.

Thompson ignored him.

"Let me show you to your table."

But he looked at his face

Familiar

But couldn't remember where.

Jessica smirked.

"Be careful of people below your level. They're like stains."

"That's exactly why you should avoid me," Thompson replied coldly, walking away with me.

I was still confused. I didn't fully understand who he was, but I stayed calm, curious and slightly nervous.

He noticed and gently held my hand.

"It's okay," he said reassuringly.

The party continued.

"Now that Mr. Thompson is here, let the celebration begin!" the organizer announced.

"And now, let's welcome the celebrant!"

My heart skipped.

Was Martin trying to humiliate me again?

Or this party was truly organized for me

Before I could even think further

"Everyone, please welcome Jessica Tony!"

She stood and walked majestically.

As she passed me, she paused, glaring before continuing to the stage.

"Thank you all for coming to my birthday party."

My chest tightened.

So… this party was never for me.

It was for her.

He sent me an invite

And her old clothes and shoes as a gift … just to make it up to me?

My fists clenched so tightly my nails nearly pierced my skin.

Thompson gently held my hand.

"Don't worry," he said. "Everything is under control."

"I'd like to thank someone very special to me… the one after my heart….Martin," Jessica said.

The crowd applauded as Martin joined her on stage.

"He loves me so much. Even when I was away, he waited for me. No one can ever take my place in his heart."

She ran her hand across his chest.

"You'll recognize true love when you see it… not someone forcing themselves on a man, begging for love and attention they'll never get."

Her eyes locked on me.

Everyone knew who she meant.

"But my Martin has never given his time, love, or attention to anyone else but me."

The crowd clapped again.

Martin took the microphone.

"Thank you all for coming. I also have a gift for Jessica."

He handed her a box.

She opened it.

A diamond necklace.

The exact one he once promised me.

She lifted it up, making sure I saw it, then hugged him.

"Thank you so much, Martin. It's beautiful."

I love it. "He never forget my bithday and he always get me gifts ,He's so caring "

Then

She called my name.

"Agnes…"
