(Mael's POV)
I can see.
I kept blinking, trying to make sure that I was not imagining things. But it was all true, or at least from what I can tell. The far memory of being capable of sight was returning to me; I knew exactly what it was like to have sight. And this all seemed to be very familiar, yet very surreal. After all this time, I didn't think I was going to ever see again. I thought I was blind forever, cursed for the sins of my Father and his family.
But I can see.
And I didn't know how to react to this.
I looked around me, my eyes wincing slightly at the light. It was all so bright that my eyesight was trying to focus, trying to get used to the once-forgotten feeling.
"Where.....?" I said, taking a step, "So the Breach was a success..."
I remember being tossed into the Breach by Markus, who had stated everything was sloppier than usual. After that, there was nothing but excruciating pain that was spreading throughout my body, it was intense. It felt like every inch of my body was being ripped apart and stitched back together by burning needles.
After that horrifying bit, there was nothing. And then there was the voice. That voice, the voice of a woman, which was hard to understand at time. I felt nothing but coldness in that voice, something powerful and dangerous.
The owner of the voice made a pact with me, in exchange for something she views is worth the investment.
Eyesight in exchange for half my heart.
An ability in exchange for Distortion after my Blooming.
And Creatures of Distortion in exchange for being Pleased.
While everything is quite confusing at first, I do know one thing; I am in the Distorted Godlands, and I have made contact with some form of entity. That entity has become my Patron of sorts and is more than likely going to try to manipulate me.
I have to be prepared for that; that is the last thing I need to do. My goal here is to build power until the Blood Moon and cross back over with some Relics.
Now, the problem was figuring out when the next Blood Moon is. And not just that, I don't know what a Relic would look like. But I had just gotten here, so I really have no place to worry about it.
"Now..." I started, "Where am I? The voice mentioned the Sun and Moon Realm. The Godlands have various Realms within it, separated by dimensional barriers. If I were tossed in there, I wonder where the others were sent."
I began to walk past the group of bushes that was in front of me. I could hear the sound of wildlife in the distance. I had ended up somewhere in a forest region, something around midday, which is deduced by how the sun was shining right above. Unless this place's Sun and Moon Cycle is much more different than home, I would assume that my guess is correct.
I kept walking, adjusting to my returned eyesight. It felt all too surreal, seeing the colors of the leaves on the trees, how brown the bark of the trunk was, and being unsettled by how pitch black the shadows of the shade under the trees were. Never in a million years would I expect this to happen; for my eyesight to return.
But that is not something I can get hung up on, not right now. The goal is to gather my bearings and try to find some sort of civilization, find someone who could help me out and guide me to the closest relic. And it's not just that, the point is to survive and get stronger. Who knows what kind of dangers the Godlands have? I have to be prepared.
"I need to find shelter and get food and water." I said as I kept walking, "Otherwise, I won't stand a chance out here."
After a few more minutes of walking, I managed to break the tree line and reached what I assumed was the edge of a cliff. I didn't bother to see over the cliff and down because of the sight that was before me.
Despite it being daytime, I could still see the cosmos in the sky. It was similar to how the Milky Way could be visible from Earth at certain spots; the edge of a galaxy was right before me. It was as if the sky was broken and the cosmic view was leaking through.
It was something I never expected to see at all in this place. If it was like this during the daytime, I wonder how it could be during the night.
"Beautiful." I said as I looked at the sky, "This is quite beautiful....."
To think that I was lucky enough to regain my sight just in time to see this. This was quite the fortunate turn of events. Not only did I survive the Breaching, but I also got my eyesight back. And I was looking at the magnificent view up in the heavens.
I then looked over the cliff, seeing the vast field of green in front of me. Wherever I was in the Godlands, I was in a vast Forest Region. I didn't see the end of the green, even seeing some rivers and other bodies of waters scattered about. But wherever I was, it was quite the massive and endless forest.
"Interesting...." I said, "I'm in a forest, so I wonder how-"
I was cut off by the sound of a massive howling in the distance, which was deep and bone-chilling. The mere sound of it caused my skin to crawl, sweat forming on the side of my face as I froze, standing still.
It looked to come from the far left and upon glancing in that direction, I saw the trees rustling about, with a large group of birds flying away in terror.
"Fuck..." I muttered, "That doesn't sound good."
"Fufu~ It's not." I heard the voice in my head, which was even more bone-chilling than the howling, "Mael~ You must learn to summon your weapons."
I felt a sharp pain in my left arm, "aghh..."
I looked down to see a glowing mark appearing on my forearm, which resembled a black wing surrounded by flames.
"W-What is this?" I asked
"Our Pact."The Voice told me, "All you have to do is either verbally or mentally make a command. And one of three weapons granted will be summoned. This is Magic, after all, and it will require training to master it, Fufu~"
"I....I see...." I said
"Say one of three commands."The Voice said,
"Arcus, Lanceus, or Gladius."
