The dark, sleek SUV glided to a silent halt just past the treeline bordering Alex's estate. I sat in the leather back seat, watching through the heavily tinted window as the perimeter searchlights swept uselessly over the outer gates.
My informant inside the house had sent the signal ten minutes ago: 'The Alpha is completely incapacitated, and his Beta is isolated.'
A thin, cold smile curled my lips. Alex was a fool. A weak, emotional boy who had inherited a throne he never possessed the spine to hold. Losing his child and having Theresa spit in his face had destroyed whatever pitiful resolve he had left. He had handed me his pack on a silver platter without me having to fire a single shot at his borders.
I clicked open my encrypted radio. "Phase one. Neutralize the perimeter guards… and no unnecessary noise."
"Understood, Alpha Thomas," Marcus, my second-in-command, replied over the earpiece.
