Chapter 40 - Mission Begins

The light faded.

Solid ground returned beneath their feet.

Uchiha Mo and Uchiha Shūjin found themselves standing on a clean, modern city street.

Afternoon sunlight filtered between towering buildings.

Around them—

A steady flow of pedestrians and vehicles moved in orderly rhythm.

People wore unfamiliar clothing, spoke strange languages, and enormous electronic billboards flickered with dynamic advertisements.

Everything felt… structured.

Peaceful.

A stark contrast to the ninja world.

A semi-transparent barrier, about ten meters wide, enclosed the three of them—isolating them from the surrounding noise.

At the edge of the barrier—

A young man in pajamas, with shoulder-length brown hair, slowly got to his feet.

His expression was filled with confusion.

"Mo? Shūjin? Where… is this?"

Uchiha Inabi scanned the surroundings uneasily.

His Sharingan activated instantly.

The completely alien environment triggered his instincts.

He went on guard.

Mo immediately glanced at Shūjin.

Shūjin understood.

He adjusted his glasses and stepped forward calmly.

"Inabi, calm down."

"We've been chosen by something called the 'Main God' and brought to another world to complete missions…"

As Shūjin explained the basics—

Reincarnators.

Tasks.

Rewards.

Mo lowered his gaze to his wrist device.

Information appeared:

[Current World: Mid-Level World — Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen]

[Main Mission 1: Obtain the Energy Matrix (0/1)

Reward: +1 Space Authority Level, 3000 Points]

[Main Mission 2: Collect AllSpark Fragments (0/2)

Reward: 1000 Points each]

[Warning: Disclosure of Main God information to non-reincarnators is forbidden.

Violation: Erasure]

[Remaining Time: 29 days 23 hours 58 minutes…]

When Shūjin finished explaining—

His wrist device vibrated.

[Guidance of newcomer complete.

Reward: Uchiha Shūjin gains 500 Points]

He raised an eyebrow slightly.

So guiding newcomers granted rewards too?

500 points…

Not bad.

Meanwhile—

Inabi was still processing everything.

His three-tomoe Sharingan spun slowly as he observed—

Skyscrapers.

Steel vehicles.

People dressed in strange attire.

This was…

Another world?

Main God?

Reincarnation missions?

Impossible…

Yet—

The evidence was undeniable.

His gaze shifted—

From Mo's massive scroll…

To Shūjin's fully prepared gear…

Then down to his own pajamas.

The contrast was obvious.

They had done this before.

So those rumors within the clan—

Their sudden increase in strength—

This was the reason.

They grew stronger through these missions.

And judging from their interaction—

Mo was clearly the leader.

Inabi took a deep breath.

His Sharingan deactivated.

"So what do we do now?"

Mo tilted his chin toward Inabi's wrist.

"Check your watch first. It shows the objectives."

Inabi complied.

He focused—

Reading the mission details.

Energy Matrix.

AllSpark fragments.

His brows furrowed.

He didn't understand any of it.

Mo read his expression instantly.

"So first priority…"

"We figure out what's happening in this world."

He looked toward the bustling street beyond the barrier.

The pedestrians.

The glowing handheld devices.

The time and date displayed on distant screens.

"This world is highly developed."

"Information should spread quickly."

"We need to determine the current time, location, and where our targets are."

Inabi nodded firmly.

"Understood."

"In this completely unfamiliar environment… I'll follow your lead."

He knew his position.

This wasn't the time for pride.

Survival came first.

And experience mattered.

Mo gave a slight nod.

A teammate who understood the situation—

Saved a lot of trouble.

Of course—

He also knew that Inabi's cooperation wasn't just logic.

It was also influenced by his growing reputation within the Uchiha clan.

Otherwise—

Would someone like Inabi, known for his aggressive stance, submit this easily?

Unlikely.

"The barrier is fading," Shūjin reminded.

The semi-transparent field was thinning rapidly.

"Move."

Mo stepped forward—

Crossing out of the barrier—

And blending into the flow of the city.

Shūjin and Inabi followed closely behind.

...

Thirty minutes later.

In a quiet back alley—

Mo and Shūjin still wore their original outfits.

Their dark Uchiha attire stood out—

But could pass as "cosplay" in this world.

The biggest change—

Was Inabi.

His pajamas were gone.

Now replaced with a black tracksuit and sneakers—

"Borrowed" from a nearby store.

At least now—

He didn't attract attention.

"Thanks."

He accepted basic ninja tools from Shūjin—

A few shuriken.

Two explosive tags.

He stored them carefully.

Having weapons again—

Calmed him.

Shūjin adjusted his glasses and handed him a stack of crude-looking talismans.

"Take these too."

"The effects are varied—I'll explain quickly. Remember them."

Inabi took the talismans.

His expression turned slightly strange.

From Shūjin's tone—

There was no arrogance.

No condescension.

Instead…

There was understanding.

Like someone who had once stood in the same position.

Inabi immediately realized something.

Shūjin—

Had once been a newcomer too.

That realization eased the discomfort in his chest.

If even a veteran like him had started from nothing—

Then his current situation wasn't so humiliating.

"This yellowed one—creates a localized gravity field on contact…"

Shūjin continued explaining.

Inabi focused.

These talismans looked crude.

Messy.

Almost amateurish.

But their effects—

Were undeniably powerful.

Gravity manipulation.

Cold energy.

Mental interference.

Each one—

Had real combat value.

And for the first time since arriving—

Inabi felt something close to confidence returning.
