Tara did not even bother to look at where the voice was coming from because she knew whose voice it was. She smiled as she said, "Ooh, now you won't let me finish saying why I don't like the person you have arranged for me, huh?" she said plainly.
Venessa stood up from where she was sitting and walked to the stage. As soon as she got there, she held Tara's arms and turned her to face her.
"Tara, why are you disgracing the whole family? If you did not want to get engaged, you should have just said so, and we would have figured out something," she said with feigned innocence as her hands still held Tara.
Tara could feel Venessa's nails dig into her skin, but she did not flinch for the first few minutes until she could not take it anymore. She shook her hand away from Venessa's grip.
Venessa moved a step backward from the force of the shake as she almost fell but was caught by Frank.
Everyone saw the scene and was surprised.
