Vincent's eyes froze on the words...something about them felt a bit odd or maybe some heaviness
he continued reading
"The world seems heavy ... i can feel that i'll not survive long ...through this peice of paper i want to convey my last wish ...
If love ever finds me again in my next lofe , I hope it feels like home...I really hope it would be safe ...
I wish I could stayed longer ...Sorry for leaving these words unfinised
Maybe someday , this letter will reach the right person i dont know how long it will take but
I'm sure that one day you will understand that Love can come back even when it feels impossible
Trust Me
good bye
After reading the letter , he slowly and silently folded it .
the words did not make any sense ... it should not ... but It felt familiar ..
the handwriting .. the pattern .. the vocabulary ...too familiar
A faint memory flashed in his mind-
A sweet voice, a laugh ... a warmth he had buried long ago
Ella
the name came automatically before his brain could interpret
Vincent : NO ... its not possible ...
She is gone ... she had been gone for years ... this is just a stupid letter
piece of crap... nothing else ... right?
he again opened the letter and glared at those lines
'Maybe someday this will reach the right person'
For a strange reason , he felt that the right person must be him
the words stayed ... echoing ... unsettling
He stood stiff on the empty abandoned land.. when he head some footsteps behind his back ..
Vincent quickly folded his letter and slipped it back into his pocket as he was hiding it ..
A familiar voice reached his ears --
familiar .. gentle ..soft ...
that same feeling returned - quiet - uncertain
A few steps ahead ,near a broken wooden fence a small group had gathered .An elderly women sat on a lower stool, tears in her face as her wrist was injured and beside her--
A girl was helping her - carefully and gently she was wrapping a cloth around the woman's wrist
"Its alright ... I won't let it get worse " she said softly to the lady
her voice carried something rare enough to attract Vincent ..
a loose strand of her wavy hair fell across her face as she leans forward - she brushed it back immediately, never breaking her focus ..
A memory-a feeling .. too far to hold - to familiar to ignore-
"Does it hurt?- she asked ..
the woman nodded ..
she again adjusted the cloth with her lean fingers as if it was a daily routine for her ..
"there... better?" the women nodded and smiled
she smiled back and said
" Do not let your injury be in contact with water for now .. I'll be back again tomorrow .. Take care "
she left with her team mates ..
"she was the caretaker for the families who need help after the critical war was over"
She left the place - but Vincent didn't ..
the words echoed again in his mind -'I hope it feels like home"
he couldn't look away ...
