Chapter 11 - Chapter 10: The Second Devil Fruit Is Sold

Any living organism.

Any disease.

Those two consecutive uses of the word any hit Helen hard.

For a scientist like her, words that absolute carried a completely different weight. In her world, very few things could truly be described with such certainty.

If it were just any living organism, that was still barely acceptable. After all, while humans and animals were built differently, there were still many physiological similarities between them.

Otherwise, so many medical experiments wouldn't begin with animal trials in the first place.

But any disease?

That was a completely different story.

If that were really possible…

Helen almost didn't dare imagine it.

"Shop owner, can it really cure any disease? I mean things like cancer, leukemia, Parkinson's syndrome… even terminal illnesses like those?"

Helen took a deep breath, then stared straight at Rorschach and asked in a low, steady voice.

"Of course, Dr. Cho. I already told you—any disease." Rorschach met her gaze without wavering. "To the Healing Fruit, there's only a difference between illness and no illness. There's no such thing as an incurable disease."

Under Helen's hopeful stare, Rorschach gave her an answer as certain as steel.

"Really?"

Her voice was already trembling.

If the Healing Fruit truly possessed such heaven-defying power, then it wouldn't just shake the medical world—

It would rewrite it from top to bottom.

It would become a blessing for all humanity.

"It's not limited to pathological illnesses, either. Injuries can be healed too. External wounds, poisoning, and similar damage can all be restored by the Healing Fruit in a very short amount of time."

Rorschach's voice sounded again, and Helen's shock deepened.

It could cure disease.

It could heal injury.

There was no question about it—this fruit was extraordinary.

But if it healed wounds…

Would it leave scars behind?

She asked that question immediately.

"Of course not," Rorschach said without hesitation. "The Healing Fruit's healing is perfect. It leaves behind no flaws, no scars, and no aftereffects."

"It doesn't even leave scars?"

Helen couldn't stay calm anymore.

Forget everything else—this point alone was enough to drive countless people into a frenzy.

"And the Healing Fruit is far more than that, Dr. Cho. If you have enough talent—or work hard enough to develop the fruit to a high level—you'll be able to unlock its strongest ability: Restoration."

Rorschach continued his introduction at the perfect moment.

"Restoration?"

Helen froze for a moment.

She didn't fully grasp the meaning right away.

Wasn't healing just another form of restoration?

"Yes. Restoration." Rorschach nodded. "With that ability, you can restore a target to its original, intact state."

He paused, then added calmly,

"And that applies to both organic and inorganic matter."

Helen's expression changed instantly.

"In other words, Restoration can also be used on objects. If something is accidentally broken, you can use Restoration to return it to the exact state it was in before it was damaged."

Helen sucked in a cold breath.

It could heal living things—

And even repair objects?

That was beyond terrifying.

It was beyond imagination.

At that point, her worldview wasn't just cracked.

It had shattered into dust.

"But Restoration shouldn't be used lightly," Rorschach added seriously, offering a risk warning at just the right time. "Using that ability consumes the user's lifespan."

"Ordinary healing, however, is completely safe. So, Dr. Cho… are you satisfied with the Healing Fruit?"

"Very satisfied!" Helen nodded heavily, making her decision on the spot. "This is exactly the fruit I want."

"Then I'll take it."

"The Healing Fruit is priced at five million U.S. dollars," Rorschach said smoothly. "But since the shop is still in its grand opening period, everything is thirty percent off. So, Dr. Cho, you only need to pay three million five hundred thousand."

"I didn't expect the Healing Fruit to be so cheap."

Helen said it from the bottom of her heart.

She wasn't showing off, either.

Judging from the value the Healing Fruit had already shown, forget three million—even thirty million would still be worth it.

Now that was what a real customer sounded like.

Rorschach felt deeply gratified.

Doing business with someone who truly had money really was a pleasure.

"Shop owner, give me one Healing Fruit first. If it really is as miraculous as you say, I'll definitely come back and buy again."

Helen pulled out a bank card and handed it to him.

"My shop only sells genuine goods. No deception, no exaggeration," Rorschach said as he took the card and ran it through. "Everything I told you is true. You'll know the moment you eat it."

He returned the card, then added,

"Though if you want to buy another one soon, that probably won't be possible. At the moment, this shop only has one of each Devil Fruit in stock."

That caught Helen slightly off guard, but she only nodded and didn't say much.

She hadn't even personally experienced the Healing Fruit yet. Talking about buying more now was still a little premature.

After the payment was complete, Rorschach took the Healing Fruit out of the display case and handed it to her.

Then he thoughtfully added one more reminder.

"Dr. Cho, one bite is enough. Only the first bite matters."

"Once you've taken that first bite, the rest of the fruit is basically useless."

That kind of thing was completely unheard of, and impossible to explain with common sense.

But for Helen, it was good news.

Just thinking about having to eat a whole fruit that tasted bad enough to make someone question life itself was already depressing enough.

If one bite was all it took, then that was obviously much better.

And…

"Shop owner, then… can I take the rest of the fruit home with me?"

Helen asked the question carefully.

Even though Rorschach had said the rest of it was useless, she was still a scientist. To her, everything had to be verified with her own eyes.

She planned to take the leftover fruit back and analyze it herself.

"Of course." Rorschach answered as if it were the most natural thing in the world. "The fruit belongs to you now. How you handle it is entirely your choice."

"That's wonderful."

Helen looked genuinely pleased.

Then she turned slightly aside, not wanting Rorschach to see her lose composure, and bit into the Healing Fruit.

In that instant—

Just like when she had tasted the Kilo-Kilo Fruit sample earlier, she immediately felt a strange and profound change sweep through her body.

A new power had appeared inside her.

It was impossible to describe with words, yet she could feel it with perfect clarity.

She knew, without the slightest doubt, that it was a power capable of healing others.

"Oh, right, Dr. Cho." Rorschach spoke up again. "I've created a group chat. Would you like to join? If anything comes up, everyone can exchange information there."

"Of course."

Helen agreed without the slightest hesitation.
