Vanessa: Wade, you actually know the new guy? Aren't you going to introduce him properly? Oh, and @Wesley, I'm Wade's wife. I'm really happy to see that Wade finally has a friend.
Vanessa?
Wesley couldn't help feeling surprised when he saw that name.
Wade's wife was also named Vanessa?
The exact same name as his boss's fiancée.
That was one hell of a coincidence.
Wesley: Hello, Ms. Vanessa. My name is Wesley. I'm... one of Mr. Wade's business partners. We actually had a very pleasant collaboration not long ago. It's an honor to meet you.
Vanessa: Since you two are friends, and now both Devil Fruit users, you should spend more time together in the future.
Vanessa genuinely hoped her oddball husband would have a few more friends.
She had always known what kind of work Deadpool did. After all, what happened two years ago had taken place right in front of her. Wade had never really been able to hide it from her.
She could also guess exactly what kind of "collaboration" Wesley was referring to.
Even so, she still hoped Wade wouldn't spend his whole life as a lone wolf.
Wade Wilson: Since my lovely wife has spoken, Wesley, I'll reluctantly count you as a friend. If there's business in the future, come find me. You know my reputation.
Wesley: Of course, Mr. Wade. Your professional ability is top-tier even within the industry.
Vanessa: By the way, Wesley, which Devil Fruit did you buy? If you don't mind, could you tell everyone?
Wesley hesitated.
After all, he had bought the Bullet Fruit. It wasn't as respectable or straightforward as Helen Cho's Healing Fruit or Wade's Slip-Slip Fruit.
But after a moment of thought, he decided to be honest.
If he had chosen to join this circle of Devil Fruit users, yet still acted secretive about something as basic as what fruit he had bought, then how could he expect the group to truly accept him?
Wesley: Ms. Vanessa, I bought the Bullet Fruit. The place where I live is a little chaotic, so I wanted something for self-defense.
Wade Wilson: The Bullet Fruit? So it's a fruit that lets you create bullets? That means you don't need to carry a weapon—you are the weapon!
Wade Wilson: Wow, Wesley, maybe you should switch careers. This ability was basically made for assassination!
Just imagine it.
After an incredibly thorough security check, after everyone confirmed Wesley wasn't carrying any weapons, the target finally let their guard down and agreed to meet him.
And then Wesley suddenly fired a bullet from his own body and killed them on the spot.
Was that thrilling or what?
Shocking enough?
If there was going to be a Rookie King of Assassins, it had to be Wesley.
The Bullet Fruit?
Helen Cho's brows instinctively drew together.
The moment she saw that, she had already formed a rough judgment of Wesley.
To her, the whole "self-defense" excuse didn't hold up at all. The fact that he had chosen the Bullet Fruit already revealed something about the way he thought and the path he walked.
She now had a pretty good idea of how she should deal with Wesley going forward.
Wesley: You're joking, Mr. Wade. I already said it—I only bought this fruit for self-defense.
Wesley: Alright, everyone, it's been a pleasure meeting you all, but I still have some matters to handle. Please excuse me.
With that, Wesley exited the group chat.
"Boss, today has truly opened my eyes. Devil Fruits have completely changed the way I see the world."
Wesley spoke from the heart as he looked at Rorschach.
"Please go ahead with your work, Boss. I'll definitely be coming back."
"You're welcome anytime."
Rorschach waved him off.
"Goodbye, Boss."
Wesley even gave Rorschach a respectful farewell before leaving the Devil Fruit shop.
The moment he got into his car in the parking lot, he immediately called Kingpin.
"Wesley? Well?"
Fisk's voice came through the receiver.
"Boss, it's real! Devil Fruits are real!"
Even now, Wesley's voice was still full of excitement.
"I tested it myself!"
"That kind of miraculous thing... is actually real?"
Even Fisk sounded stunned.
"It's real, Boss! I ate the Bullet Fruit, and I can actually fire bullets from my body!"
"I'm heading back right now. Once you see it with your own eyes, you'll understand."
"Wesley, I'm looking forward to it."
The call ended there.
Wesley wasted no time. Still full of excitement, he drove back to Hell's Kitchen as fast as he could.
Soon, he arrived at Fisk's office.
"Go tell Nobu this clearly—I'm only providing the dock and the ship. I am not providing security."
"If anything happens to their cargo, that's their problem. It has nothing to do with me!"
Two men in suits were currently standing before Fisk, being scolded.
It was obvious from the look on his face that Fisk was in a terrible mood.
But the moment Wesley entered, his expression eased slightly.
He waved the two men away.
"You two can leave."
The men bowed respectfully and quickly withdrew.
"More problems from Nobu's side again?"
Wesley's brows furrowed.
Lately, Fisk had formed a temporary alliance with Madame Gao, Nobu, Leland, and the Russian brothers in order to jointly control Hell's Kitchen.
But the truth was, the alliance had been progressing badly.
Leland and the Russians were manageable enough.
Madame Gao and Nobu were not.
Especially Nobu.
Time and time again, he made it clear he didn't truly take Fisk seriously, and he was gradually becoming one of Fisk's biggest headaches.
"I wish it weren't," Fisk said with a tired shake of his head. "But as usual, it's always trouble from Nobu's side."
Then he looked at Wesley with open anticipation.
"Wesley, I hope you've brought me good news. I could use something to improve my mood."
"I believe you're about to be very surprised, Boss."
Wesley couldn't help smiling.
His eyes moved around the office for a moment before landing on a mug sitting on Fisk's desk.
He picked it up.
"First of all, let me apologize for the mug, but..."
As he spoke, Wesley raised one finger and aimed it at the cup.
His mind moved.
His power activated.
Bang!
Crash!
The mug exploded into pieces.
A bullet had punched straight through it and embedded itself in Fisk's desk.
"Incredible."
"Absolutely incredible."
Fisk's eyes went wide, his face filled with astonishment—almost exactly the same expression he had worn when Helen Cho healed Vanessa.
"Devil Fruits... are real."
"Something this miraculous actually exists."
Only after a long moment did those words finally leave his mouth.
At that moment, all of his doubts vanished.
