The fog was still Heavy.
Li Shen stood between two worlds.
Behind him, the hunter with his blade steady and eyes cold.
Before him, the woman, calm, unreadable… but far more dangerous.
"Choose," the hunter said.
The woman didn't speak again.
She didn't need to.
Li Shen exhaled slowly.
Then
He stepped forward toward her.
The hunter moved instantly.
SHING!
The blade cut through the air
But it never reached him.
The woman raised a single hand without rush or effort
Then the air itself… shifted.
CLANG.
The blade stopped mid-strike.
Not blocked.
Not deflected.
It simply… couldn't move further.
Like the space in front of her had become absolute.
The hunter's eyes narrowed.
"…You would interfere directly?"
The woman's expression didn't change.
"You've already overstepped," she replied softly. "Be satisfied you're leaving alive."
The atmosphere was tense and sharp
Then
The pressure vanished.
The hunter slowly lowered his blade.
But his eyes remained on Li Shen.
Cold and calculating.
"This isn't over," he said.
Then he stepped back
And disappeared into the fog.
Silence returned.
Li Shen didn't relax.
He turned toward the woman.
"…Why help me?"
She studied him for a moment.
Then smiled faintly.
"Help?" she said. "Don't misunderstand."
She stepped closer.
The distance between them closed effortlessly.
"I'm simply… curious."
Her gaze dropped to his arm, the faint golden lines still glowing beneath his skin.
"…And you," she added quietly, "are far too strange to be left in the hands of hunters."
She turned.
"Come."
Without explanation or hesitation
She simply began walking while Li Shen followed.
It was already midnight in London
The city felt different, it felt alive.
Not in the way normal people would see it.
As they moved deeper into London, the fog thinned… and yet, Li Shen's senses sharpened.
He began to notice things.
People… who weren't normal.
A man standing too still beneath a streetlamp.
A woman whose shadow moved half a second too late.
A shop that looked abandoned but yet pulsed faintly with energy.
"…This city," Li Shen muttered.
The woman spoke without turning.
"Has always been like this."
They stopped in front of an old building.
A tea house.
Simple and quiet, almost forgettable.
But the moment Li Shen stepped closer
He felt it.
A pressure not oppressive.
But deep.
Like standing before something ancient.
The woman placed her hand on the door.
"…Welcome," she said,
"to the Azure Cloud Pavilion."
Inside the Pavilion
The world changed.
The moment Li Shen stepped through the door
The outside vanished.
No street.
No fog.
No London.
Instead
A vast courtyard stretched before him.
Stone paths.
Flowing water.
Ancient trees swaying under a sky that shouldn't exist indoors.
Li Shen froze.
"…This… isn't possible."
The woman walked ahead calmly.
"It is," she said. "You simply lack the understanding."
He followed slowly.
"…What is this place?"
"A fragment," she replied. "A space shaped by those who have surpassed the ordinary."
She stopped.
Then turned to face him fully.
"My name," she said, "is Lian Yue."
Her voice was calm.
But carried weight.
"I am an inner disciple of the Azure Cloud Pavilion."
Her gaze sharpened slightly.
"And from this moment on… you are under my supervision."
Li Shen frowned.
"…I didn't agree to that."
Lian Yue smiled faintly.
"No," she said.
"But you will."
She raised her hand slightly.
A ripple passed through the air.
Then
A stone pillar rose from the ground between them.
Covered in markings.
Symbols, Lines and Energy.
"This," she said, "is where you begin."
The Truth of Power
Lian Yue stepped closer to the pillar.
"Tell me," she said, "what do you think strength is?"
Li Shen didn't hesitate.
"…The ability to survive."
She shook her head slightly.
"Too shallow."
She tapped the pillar lightly.
Energy flared.
Symbols lit up one by one.
"Strength," she said, "is control."
Her voice became colder.
"Control over your body. Your breath. Your will. Your fate."
She looked at him.
"And right now…"
"You have none."
Li Shen didn't argue.
Because he knew She was right.
Lian Yue gestured to the pillar.
"Watch carefully."
The symbols shifted reforming and creating a clear structure.
Cultivation Realms
Her voice echoed calmly:
"The Path of Cultivation is divided into stages."
1. Body Tempering
"Strengthening the flesh. Bones. Blood."
"The foundation of all power."
2. Qi Gathering
"Drawing energy from the world into your body."
"Without this, you are nothing more than a mortal with tricks."
3. Meridian Opening
"Unlocking the pathways within your body."
"Only then can power truly flow."
4. Core Formation
"Condensing all energy into a single point."
"The birth of true cultivators."
5. Spirit Ascension
"The soul awakens. Your will becomes power."
6. Heaven Crossing
"A realm where you defy the natural order itself."
The light faded.
Silence returned.
Li Shen stared at the pillar.
"…And me?"
Lian Yue looked at him deeply.
"…You don't fit anywhere," she said.
She paused and continued.
"You have no Qi," she continued.
"No proper foundation."
"No opened meridians."
Her gaze dropped again to the golden lines beneath his skin.
"…And yet," she added softly,
"You are stronger than most who stand at Body Tempering."
Li Shen clenched his fist.
"…Because of this."
"Because of that," she corrected.
Lian Yue stepped closer.
Her expression turned serious.
"For the next few days," she said,
"You will not fight."
"You will not leave."
"You will not rely on that armor."
Li Shen frowned.
"…Then what do I do?"
Her answer came without hesitation.
"You will learn," she said,
"how to become strong… without it."
The air grew still.
"For if you cannot control yourself," she continued quietly,
"then that thing inside you…"
"…will eventually control you."
Li Shen's eyes narrowed.
Deep inside
The armor pulsed once as if listening.
Lian Yue turned away.
"Rest," she said. "Training begins at dawn."
Li Shen stood alone in the courtyard.
Surrounded by a world he didn't understand.
A path he had never imagined.
And a power…
He couldn't yet control.
For the first time
He wasn't just surviving.
And he knew this was the beginning.
