Chapter 12 - Causality in Motion

Six months later, Kairi's life had gradually stabilized. With knowledge from his previous life and the prepared materials for the Link Star project, he had cut down years of work; what normally required an entire team over a long period was now completed in just a few months under his hands. And then, Link Star officially launched—far more successful than expected, everything unfolding exactly as Kairi had calculated.

But more importantly, he had begun to understand his ability.

At first, he thought it was simple. But the more he used it, the more he realized how terrifyingly precise it was. Even when the objects and actions given seemed completely unrelated, the desired result would still occur.

Like the time he wished for his project to be approved for funding earlier than expected.

The ability gave him a lollipop.

And a keyword: hallway.

It made absolutely no sense.

Still, he followed it.

Kairi stepped into the hallway and waited. Time passed slowly. One minute… two… three… by the fourth minute, even he began to doubt the logic of what he was doing.

"…This is ridiculous."

And then—

A man suddenly collapsed.

His body convulsed violently, throwing the surrounding people into panic. With just a glance, Kairi immediately recognized the symptoms—hypoglycemia. Without hesitation, he took out the lollipop and gave it to the man.

A few moments later, the man stabilized.

Breathing returned.

The crowd calmed.

"…Thank you…" the man said weakly.

Before Kairi could respond—

Someone rushed over.

His boss.

No—

The CEO.

Panic filled the man's face, but the moment he saw the old man conscious, relief flooded in.

"That's my father…" he said, his voice shaking slightly. "He has a history of hypoglycemia. He must've forgotten to bring candy with him…"

Then he turned to Kairi.

And grabbed his hand tightly.

"Thank you. Seriously—thank you."

A pause.

"You're Kairi, right? I remember you have a project. I'll approve the funding immediately."

There was no hesitation in his voice.

Kairi understood that everything that had just happened… had been perfectly arranged.

"…Causality," he murmured.

However, not all results were pleasant.

Sometimes, the ability still worked—but in ways that left him speechless.

For example, when he casually thought about wanting a free meal.

The ability gave him a trash bag.

Keyword: garbage collection site.

"…You've got to be kidding me."

Still, he followed through. He took the trash out, and there he saw a donut shop employee dumping an entire sack of perfectly edible donuts into the trash.

Kairi frowned. "…Why throw those away?"

The worker shrugged. "Store policy. We can't sell them cheap or give them away. Otherwise, people would just wait until closing to get free food."

Kairi fell silent.

His gaze slowly lowered to the trash bin.

"…So this is my 'free meal.'"

But what truly put him on guard was the darker side of the ability.

The more unreasonable the request—

The more twisted and dangerous the method became.

Once, when he wished for five billion to appear in his account, the ability immediately gave him a life insurance contract, along with a piece of paper that read:

Jump from the rooftop.

In that instant, a chill ran down Kairi's spine. His heart pounded. His throat went dry.

He didn't need time to think.

He understood.

This ability… was willing to kill him.

To achieve the result.

No hesitation. No limits.

As if his life was nothing more than a price to be paid.

Another time, when he wished to win the lottery jackpot, the ability gave him two dollars and a slip of paper with the winning numbers. Excited at first, Kairi spent an entire day searching for the corresponding ticket—but found nothing.

A few days later, he heard the news—

A beggar had found a lottery ticket.

And became rich overnight.

Kairi leaned back in his chair, exhaling slowly.

"…I see."

If he had used those two dollars… if he had found the right person…

The result might have been his.

"This ability doesn't grant miracles," Kairi muttered.

"It forces reality toward an outcome."

"And it doesn't care how."

At that moment, Kairi sat in his office, looking at Link Star's growth reports. The number of users was rising steadily, revenue projections were skyrocketing, and a mountain of money lay ahead of him.

For the first time since his regression—

Everything felt under control.

Knock knock.

"Sir," an employee said hesitantly, "there's someone asking to see you… in the lobby."

Kairi frowned slightly. "…Who?"

"She didn't say."

A few minutes later, Kairi stepped into the lobby.

And saw her.

A young woman with long silver hair tied neatly behind her back, pale skin, and sharp violet eyes that seemed to see through everything. Her dark, formal outfit paired with black gloves gave her an elegant yet cold presence.

Kairi stopped in front of her.

"…Who are you? What do you want?"

She didn't answer.

Instead, she stepped closer.

Leaned in.

And whispered into his ear—

"…You killed Sato, didn't you?"

Kairi froze.

Not a single muscle in his body moved.

But inside his mind—

Countless thoughts exploded at once.

Sato shouldn't even exist in this timeline.

Who is she?

How does she know about him… about that moment?

For a brief second, something dangerous flickered in Kairi's eyes.

Not fear.

Calculation.

The girl slowly pulled back, watching his reaction closely. A faint smile appeared on her lips, as if she had already gotten the answer she needed.

"…So it's true."

Her voice was calm.

Certain.

Kairi's gaze hardened. "…Who are you?"

Instead of answering, she tilted her head slightly, her violet eyes locking onto his.

"You're wondering how I know, aren't you?"

A small pause.

Then—

"If you want answers…"

She turned around.

"…follow me."
