Chapter 91 - Chapter 91: Portia

Being the Totem was a huge responsibility, and Peter was not sure if he was the right person to bear it.

But when he opened his eyes, he saw the other Peter-616. All the memories he had read about his life came flooding back: all the garbage he suffered, all the responsibilities he had, all his losses. He remembered it all. The memories were so intense that he had to close his eyes and suppress a pained expression.

If he did not accept, Peter 616 would suffer more than he already suffered today.

Not to mention that now he had recovered his body and much of his heroic community and friends no longer trusted him, not to mention the possible loss of his company.

Peter 616 had been a big part of his life, from his childhood, adolescence, and adulthood.

The first time he had read one of his comics, it was like something inside him ignited.

From the moment he read his comic, he started reading one after another, and it changed him. Before, he had ignored helping anyone, but there were times when something pushed him to help. This time was no different from the times when he was alive, but this time it was different.

It was like something was pushing him, begging him to accept. He tried to deny that feeling, but it just got worse.

When he opened his eyes and saw Peter again, he was surprised.

Behind him he could see Uncle Ben putting his hand on his shoulder while looking at him and giving him a smile.

Beside him, Gwen giving him a hug. Leah hugging his legs. Mayday giving him a hug. And Ben Reilly putting his hand on his other shoulder.

(A/N: If you don't know about Leah and Ben Reilly, Google it)

Every single one of them except Mayday was transparent.

He instantly knew they were fragments of their souls that refused to leave Peter, fragments that would be used when Peter was about to throw in the towel or when he needed emotional support.

Seeing them, he knew what he had to do.

"Sigh." He sighed.

"Well, I accept being the Totem of this Multiverse," he said, which made Mayday look at him with an expression of astonishment.

Peter 616 smiled at him and Cassandra just gave him a smile.

"Well then, tell me my absurd title and the changes that will happen, Casanova."

That comment made Mayday frown and look at her father, who had his gaze on the ground, looking at it as if it were the most interesting thing in the world, causing Mayday's frown to worsen.

"You are the Totem of Equity, Balance, and Will. Because of your integration, the lives of the Spider-Men will be greatly facilitated, and their luck will not be so bad, turning mostly in their favor."

The comment made Peter 616 stop looking at the ground and start doing a little happy dance, only for Mayday to cover her face in embarrassment and Cassandra and him to look at him with poker faces.

"That also applies to Spider-Girls and Spider-Women, not forgetting that their physical characteristics increased slightly. Let us not forget that the percentage change went from 30%-15% to 50%-40%, a big change I must say."

When Cassandra finished speaking, incredible smiles appeared on the faces of the arachnid father and daughter.

They wanted to jump and hug him, but he stopped them with his hand.

"Okay, now I want you to give me back the next flame, and I also do not want you messing with my head while I am out hunting."

'Damn. I sounded like Kraven just now.' He said this as he disappeared into red particles.

"That sounded a lot like Kraven," Peter 616 said. "Thanks for introducing me to the boy, Cassandra. Now I know the position of Totem and protector of the Multiverse is in good hands." He said this with an incredible smile that contained only pure happiness.

"You are welcome, Peter. I will send you and Mayday back to your respective universes. I hope you have luck with your little accident. I will wish you the best from here."

"It is a shame I did not get this Cassandra in my universe. Instead, I had one who was addicted to mystery, and now I have a useless one because misfortune haunts me," he had said before disappearing, particularly about the colors blue and red.

"Haha, bye Peter, bye Mayday."

"Goodbye," Mayday said as she disappeared in the same colors of particles as Peter 616.

"Let us see what the future holds for you, new Totem," Cassandra said while looking at the Peter from Earth-19616.

Entering the room, he heard the television on but just ignored it because he wanted to take a shower and relax. But when he passed by the television, he heard something extremely unusual.

"I'm Vector! Oh, yeah!"

When he heard it, he stopped, remembering that he had not left the television on and that May was downstairs, Missy was not there, and Yuri was most likely at the gym.

Taking a few steps back, he checked the sofa near the television and it was empty. He looked toward the remote and what he saw left him stunned.

Next to the remote control was Portia jumping from one side to the other while the movie was playing on the television. In one of the turns she looked at him and they looked at each other for a few long seconds.

"You know what? I just want to take a shower. Today was the longest and strangest day I have ever had so you surprised me a lot less," he said as he left the spider with its movie and headed to take a shower.

After The Shower

He had a look of concentration as he stared at the spider in front of him.

This was the Portia that had been genetically altered and had bitten him for the second time. The very slippery one had come out of its container and ended up in a strange way watching a movie.

They chatted mentally because of his telepathy with spiders.

The only bad thing was that she could not form coherent sentences, but the more she learned and talked, the better she expressed herself.

He smiled when the little spider marched toward him and jumped on his arm. His smile widened when the spider landed on his shoulder and looked at him with its eight eyes wide open.

His friendly smile turned into a tense grimace when several spiders came out of their cages and climbed all over him.

He chuckled as he watched them. Now he not only had a cat that looked like a miniaturized panther and a super-intelligent chimpanzee, but he also had a cartoon-addicted spider as a pet.

"From today onwards, you will be my eyes."
