Chapter 133 - Chapter 133: Confronting The Mordo

For a few seconds, Mordo remained silent. Peter could already predict everything he probably wanted to say to the Ancient One about giving him something mystical, but since it was a gift she had freely given, Mordo simply agreed to accompany them.

Opening a portal, the Ancient One sent them into the Mirror Dimension before opening another portal, from which incredibly large and ugly creatures began to emerge.

"What the hell are these horribly ugly things?"

"Sarfwirt are creatures that come from a dimension full of danger and evil, with a civilization very similar to ours. We use them to train inexperienced novices. They will be perfect for testing your new weapon."

"So you're practically showing me one of the possible variations of what Earth could become."

"Correct."

Gripping the axe tightly, Peter began slashing at every creature in front of him, cutting in all directions, from top to bottom and from right to left, while even using his fists whenever they got too close.

Compared to training with Cogman-Wick, this was nothing, but since things never went smoothly for a Parker, an incredibly large creature soon emerged from the portal.

Taking the axe with both hands, Peter made it freeze slightly before throwing it, causing one of the creatures, along with those around it, to become partially frozen. Running toward them, he jumped and extended his hand, calling the axe back from the creature's body and into his grip.

As he landed, Peter killed three others when the axe struck the ground, causing a small freezing explosion. The moment he stood up, he turned 180 degrees and killed another creature coming from behind him.

Running toward the giant, Peter grabbed the axe with both hands and struck it three times, stunning the creature. This gave him enough time to throw the axe at its feet, freezing them in place. Seizing the opportunity, he leaped up and hammered it on the head, followed by a knee to the face. Then, climbing onto its head, he dug his hands into it for leverage.

Without stopping, Peter began striking it repeatedly across the head and face. With one of the blows, the creature broke free from the ice and tried to grab him. Moving quickly, Peter called the axe back to his hand and plunged it into the creature's mouth.

Jumping, he used his momentum to force the creature onto its back, then pulled out the axe and began cutting through its face, splitting it in two.

With another turn, he threw the axe forcefully, killing several smaller creatures behind him.

Looking toward the portal with his axe in hand, Peter saw more creatures beginning to pass through, which made him smile. He quickly grabbed the new wireless headphones he had created, put them on, and said aloud what he wanted to hear at that moment.

Extending his hand, Peter called the axe back and stared intently at the creatures before running straight toward them.

"AHHHHHHHHH!"

He charged toward the portal, killing one creature after another along the way and completely forgetting about the presence of the other two people.

"A low-level stone, you said, but from what I can see, it is anything but low-level," Mordo said as he watched Peter slaughter the creatures emerging from the portal, each death more brutal and grotesque than the last. "I have never seen this level of violence before."

"Interesting," the Ancient One said.

Peter spent the next few hours killing horde after horde of creatures. On several occasions, he suffered cuts, blows, and stab wounds simply because he was having fun rather than being careful.

After a while, however, he became serious and started killing with strategy and intelligence.

Once Peter killed the final creature, the portal closed. This was one of the few times he could say he was slightly exhausted. He had not taken a single break. He had simply kept killing and killing without stopping.

"That was a very unique way to test a weapon, do you not think?" the Ancient One asked, making Peter turn around and look at her, only then remembering that they were still there.

"I am a perfectionist. I will not use a weapon until I know all of its capabilities, and this opportunity gave me exactly what I needed. Now I know that this weapon far exceeds my expectations," Peter said as he approached them and buried the axe in the ground.

"I can see that," she said while staring at him.

Peter looked down and realized that he was covered in both his own blood and that of the creatures, not to mention that his shirt looked as though it might fall apart at any moment.

"The runestone may have been given to you by the Master, but the axe is now a mystical weapon. From what I saw, it may have been ordinary before, but no ordinary weapon could withstand the blows you delivered while channeling the power of mystical ice."

Mordo looked toward the axe.

"I doubt the Ancient One was irresponsible enough to simply give you such a weapon. Most likely, she allowed you to use it only to test its capabilities. She will return it to where it belongs and take it out of your hands, where it will no longer pose a danger."

Interestingly, the Ancient One had placed an illusion over Peter's face, making it so that only specific individuals could see his true appearance. Mordo was not one of them.

Most likely, she had already seen part of the future and did not want Peter destroying the Sanctums because Mordo, or someone else from this place, harmed someone important to him in the future.

Both Peter and the Ancient One heard everything Mordo was saying. Crossing his arms, Peter watched as Mordo walked toward the axe embedded in the ground. Hiding a smile, he waited patiently.

Mordo grabbed the handle and pulled upward, fully expecting the axe to come free.

Instead, he received a pleasant surprise.

"What?"

Peter watched Mordo try to lift the axe for almost two minutes before finally stopping.

"What is this? Does it have a weight enchantment? Or is it deeply embedded in the ground? A mechanism? A unique magical circuit? What did you put into this, Master?"

Just as the Ancient One was about to answer, Peter decided to interrupt.

"Well, your theories are too... umm... thorough, but my theory is much simpler. Do you want me to tell you?"

Peter asked innocently as he approached the axe under Mordo's annoyed gaze. Taking hold of the handle, he paused without pulling it free.

"My theory is... umm... that you're not worthy."

Peter effortlessly pulled the axe from the ground and rested it on his shoulder, smiling at Mordo the entire time.

"Madame, could you please?"

He asked the Ancient One to open a portal to his house, but before entering, Peter turned around and looked at both of them.

"Power is this weapon. Any weapon comes from here," he said, pointing toward his heart. "But only if it is tempered with this," he continued, pointing toward his head. "With the discipline and self-control of the one who wields it, which you do not have. That is where true strength lies."

Peter looked directly at Mordo.

"I hope this makes you understand how even a simple rune can become so devastating."

He then turned around without noticing the Ancient One's smile or her expression of slight astonishment.

Once Peter stepped through the portal, he ignored the conversation beginning behind him between Mordo and the Ancient One, with Mordo asking questions, making exclamations, and voicing his opinions about Peter while the Ancient One gently offered a different perspective on his actions.

"Okay. I need a bath, and then I have to go to the lab. I want to do something I have not done in a long time," Peter said while placing the axe in a corner.

Looking at it again, he added, "I have to clean you afterward."

He then headed toward the bathroom, never noticing the faint glow that appeared across the weapon.
