That evening at Will Stone Academy, the sky turned orange and purple as the sun slowly disappeared. Most students were heading back to their dorms, laughing and talking about the day's challenges.
Group One walked together along the stone path.
Brian yawned loudly.
"I swear, if there's another challenge tomorrow, I'm retiring."
Dimitris smirked. "You retire every day."
Renée laughed. "And still come back."
Amani smiled quietly. "Today went well. Very well."
Luna walked beside Daniel, both carrying their bags.
"You weren't nervous today," Luna said.
Daniel shrugged slightly. "Not as much… I guess I'm getting used to things."
She smiled. "That's good."
Behind them, Odin walked silently, hands in his pockets. He kept glancing ahead, like he was thinking about something important.
---
As they reached the dorm entrance, a voice called out.
"Daniel."
Everyone turned.
Standing near the staircase was Marcus.
His arms were crossed, expression serious.
Brian whispered, "Here we go again…"
Dimitris stepped slightly forward. "What do you want?"
Marcus ignored him and kept his eyes on Daniel.
"I want to talk," Marcus said.
Daniel hesitated.
Luna stepped closer beside him. "About what?"
Marcus smirked slightly. "A challenge."
Renée rolled her eyes. "Of course."
Amani frowned. "What kind of challenge?"
Marcus stepped forward slowly.
"A one-on-one test," he said. "Obstacle course. Tomorrow evening."
Brian groaned. "This guy really loves drama."
Dimitris crossed his arms. "Why Daniel?"
Marcus's eyes narrowed slightly.
"Because he's the hero now," Marcus said. "Let's see if he really deserves that title."
Silence filled the air.
Daniel felt tension rise in his chest.
Luna looked at him carefully. "You don't have to do this."
Odin stepped forward quietly.
"Challenges aren't about proving worth," Odin said calmly.
Marcus smirked. "Easy for you to say."
For a moment, nobody spoke.
Then Daniel stepped forward.
"I'll do it," he said.
Everyone turned toward him in shock.
"Daniel…" Luna whispered.
Renée frowned. "Are you sure?"
Brian shook his head. "This smells like trouble."
Dimitris added, "We'll be there."
Amani nodded. "Always."
Marcus smiled faintly.
"Tomorrow. After sunset," Marcus said.
Then he turned and walked away.
---
Later that night, the dorm hallway was quieter than usual.
Luna stood near the window, looking outside at the darkening sky.
Footsteps approached behind her.
It was Daniel.
"You didn't have to accept," Luna said softly.
Daniel leaned against the wall.
"I know," he replied.
"Then why did you?"
He paused.
"Because I'm tired of hiding," he admitted. "Not behind the box… not behind fear."
Luna looked at him.
Her expression softened.
"You're not alone," she said.
Daniel smiled faintly. "I know."
For a moment, neither spoke.
The silence between them felt calm… comfortable.
Then footsteps echoed again.
Odin approached.
"You'll need strategy," Odin said calmly.
Daniel looked at him. "You think he's serious?"
Odin nodded once.
"Marcus doesn't like losing attention," Odin said. "He'll try to win—no matter what."
Luna frowned slightly. "That sounds risky."
Odin added, "We prepare tonight."
Daniel nodded.
"Okay."
---
Meanwhile, across the campus, Marcus stood near the empty obstacle field.
The moonlight reflected off the metal bars and ropes.
He clenched his fists slightly.
"They think he's better than me," Marcus muttered.
One of his friends approached.
"You sure about this?" the friend asked.
Marcus smirked.
"I don't lose," he replied.
But deep down—
He knew tomorrow wasn't just a game.
It was pride.
Reputation.
And control.
---
Back in the dorm, Group One gathered in Daniel's room.
Brian sat on the bed dramatically.
"If this goes wrong, I'm blaming Marcus forever."
Renée smirked. "Already doing that."
Dimitris looked serious. "We train now."
Amani nodded. "Short practice. Focus on speed."
Odin stepped forward.
"I'll run the course with you," he told Daniel.
Daniel nodded gratefully.
"Thanks."
Luna stood nearby, arms folded.
"You're going to win," she said confidently.
Daniel smiled slightly.
"I hope so."
But inside, his heart beat faster.
Not from fear.
From determination.
---
Outside, the wind moved softly through the trees of Will Stone Academy.
Tomorrow evening…
Daniel and Marcus would face each other.
Not just as rivals—
But as symbols of confidence and pride.
And whatever happened…
Would change everything.
