Chapter 172 - Chapter 172: Mordred and the Various Pre-War States!

Mordred looked suspiciously at the big guy who sat beside her holding a wine cup, then grinned, revealing two small canine teeth. She took the cup from the King of Conquerors' hand and drank it down in one gulp.

"Ha!"

Mordred, having finished the fine wine, sat right next to the King of Conquerors, roughly wiped the wine stain from her mouth, and heartily patted the King of Conquerors' shoulder in praise.

"That's good wine! You're alright, big guy!"

"Hahahaha! Of course it is! This is the spoils of war I, Iskandar, claimed yesterday!"

The King of Conquerors then gave Rin a look telling her to calm down, refilled Mordred's cup with the wine pot, pulled a thick book from his robe, placed it next to Mordred, and then raised his own cup toward her.

"This book contains your deeds. Don't you want to see how later generations evaluate you?"

Mordred picked up the book the King of Conquerors had placed beside her and saw the five large characters, Legends of King Arthur, printed on the cover. However, Mordred did not open the book; instead, she casually tossed it away like a cannonball.

"No need! Why should I care about the evaluation of others!"

"Hahahaha, exactly! Why should you care about the evaluation of others!"

The King of Conquerors laughed heartily and casually reached out to pat the armor on Mordred's chest.

After being 'groped' by the King of Conquerors, Mordred's smile became even more hearty. She grabbed the King of Conquerors by the neck like two good brothers, raised her cup, and began drinking with him.

Just as the two were drinking cup after cup, pushing the atmosphere to a climax, the King of Conquerors spoke.

"It's a pity that fellow Arthur didn't know how to utilize such a fine vassal and heir as you!"

Mordred instantly froze upon hearing the King of Conquerors' words, her expression full of conflict. However, after spotting Lily nearby, Mordred broke into a hearty smile and heavily slapped the King of Conquerors' back a few times, considering it punishment for speaking ill of her Father. At the same time, she inwardly agreed with the King of Conquerors' assertion that King Arthur didn't know how to utilize her.

"Big guy! You really are an interesting fellow!"

"Hahahaha, of course I am. How about it, are you interested in joining my banner?"

Hearing that, Mordred glared at the King of Conquerors with a sour expression, put down her cup, stood up, and looked down at the King of Conquerors, who was still calmly enjoying his drink.

"Tch, I have to take that back."

The King of Conquerors raised his wine cup and calmly glanced at Mordred.

"Hahahaha, rejected, as expected! But you really do care about Arthur, don't you? Do you long for his approval? Well then, Lily is now entrusted to you!"

Lily, whose name was called by the King of Conquerors, scratched her head awkwardly, walked over to the furious Mordred, and spoke shyly.

"Um, Mordred, could I possibly ask you to help us?"

Mordred, realizing the King of Conquerors had tricked her into revealing her inner thoughts, frowned unhappily. However, seeing Lily's young Father face and the familiar aura radiating from her, even though Mordred complained and argued verbally, her body honestly stood behind Lily, demonstrating her choice through action.

Seeing that Mordred had been handled, Rin secretly gave the King of Conquerors a thumbs-up, and at the same time, called Gudako, Fujimaru Ritsuka, and the others to her side.

"Listen up! Here are the battle arrangements. Fujimaru Ritsuka and Mash, take Lily and Mordred to support the human main front. Gudako and BB, you will assist in defending the main gate of Millennium Castle. But remember, if your lives are ever in danger, you must immediately contact Chaldea for evacuation! Understand?"

Fujimaru Ritsuka looked at Rin, gathered her courage, stepped forward, and said.

"Director! But if we leave, what about the Singularity?"

"If it truly reaches the point where you must evacuate, I will still be here. It won't be your turn to worry. What you need to do now is follow orders! There are at least six more Singularities after this, so now is not the time for you to throw your life away!"

At this time, Mash and Gudako also tugged at Fujimaru Ritsuka's hem, signaling her not to continue arguing with Rin.

After pondering Rin's words and recalling the strength Rin had displayed, Fujimaru Ritsuka nodded in agreement.

"Yes, Director!"

Subsequently, Gudako and Fujimaru Ritsuka, having received their orders, each took their Servants and partners and headed to their respective battlefields, leaving only Rin, the King of Conquerors, and Zelretch in the vast garden courtyard.

"Rin, you made me go through all that trouble to bring the Fuyuki City greater grail here. You don't seriously intend to just summon a Servant to help fight, do you?"

Rin shook her head at Zelretch, chewing on her thumbnail as she spoke.

"Master, honestly, I don't know how to save the Singularity. Currently, I have no clue how to resolve it, but I believe the greater grail can definitely help me. My plan is that if there truly is no other way, I will use the Ley Lines across all of Japan to charge the greater grail and open the path to The Root, allowing others to go to The Root to find a solution!"

"You don't plan on going yourself?"

Rin decisively shook her head. Thinking of the warning Servant Shiki had given her back then and her own identity, how could Rin possibly dare to go to The Root?

Seeing Rin decisively shake her head, Zelretch said no more. He took out the key to the room storing the greater grail, handed it to Rin, opened a light gate, and stepped inside.

Rin carefully put away the key, turned her head, and said to the King of Conquerors.

"Iskandar, let's set off too!"

"Hahahaha, Little Miss, let us begin a conquest that will stir the heart!"

Although the large number of Mutated Dead Apostles Rin created using the water of life had delayed the Dead Apostle army, their numbers were ultimately limited, and since they only knew how to kill, they lacked any effective organization. Now, they had been completely wiped out by the Dead Apostle army.

Inside a grand hall of Millennium Castle.

Shion was currently standing in front of a group of Shiro-Hime Faction Dead Apostles, carefully taking out a fist-sized ball of thread.

"These are all our Aether Threads! Later, everyone take a few strands. During combat, try to implant them into the brains of the defeated Dead Apostles and Ghouls. Remember, a Dead Apostle or Ghoul only needs 5 centimeters!"

"Yes!"

Shion heard the resounding reply from the Shiro-Hime Faction Dead Apostles, placed the Aether Threads in her hand on a nearby table, and then muttered while watching the Dead Apostles line up to take the threads.

"Everything is going according to plan!"

In the Chaldea Control Room, which was barely usable after several days of emergency repairs, Da Vinci was debugging the program in the spiritron computer used to control the Dead Apostles while speaking through the communication device to the fully armed Touko in the Control Room.

"Touko, are you really planning to go over there if Rin can't hold out?"

Touko looked up and glanced at the Command Room observation window located above the Control Room, then casually sat on the frame, crossing her legs and smoking a cigarette.

Da Vinci, seeing Touko's posture through the observation window, realized Touko had made up her mind, but still tried to dissuade her worriedly.

"Touko, you haven't undergone a true Spiritron Transference Test. Are you sure you don't want to reconsider? If something goes wrong, your soul might be lost in the Spiritron Sea and unable to return to your body!"

Touko adjusted her glasses and looked through the observation window at Da Vinci in the Command Room.

"It's fine. If I really get lost in the Spiritron Sea, just have Aoko return to the present timeline and fish me out!"
