Chapter 15 - Evo Association

The first thing Ryan did after settling down in Buka City was not to think about how to earn money or gather life crystals to increase his source points.

Instead, the very first thing he did was to fill the gaps in his knowledge.

Because he had lived in the slums his entire life, his knowledge about evolvers and the outside world was extremely limited.

If he wanted to achieve something in this world, the very first thing he needed to do was understand his situation properly.

For the next ten days after settling down in Buka City, Ryan did nothing else and spent most of his time reading books that he had borrowed from the public library of the city.

From information about different kinds of Aspects to the general layout of the Bright Light Kingdom and its surroundings, he tried to gather as much information as possible.

Ryan had never had the chance to receive a proper education. However, because his mother had always wanted to bring him out of the slums and live in the city, she had taught him how to read and perform basic calculations.

Ryan still remembered that when he had asked his mother who had taught her reading and mathematics, she had answered that it was his maternal grandmother who had taught her.

She had even playfully said that she was passing down ancestral teachings and that he must learn them carefully.

Although Ryan struggled to read some parts of the books he had borrowed from the library, he was still able to understand them with the help of the internet.

In these ten days, Ryan not only understood the basic situation within the Bright Light Kingdom, but he had even memorized most of the common Aspects in the world.

Now, if he saw someone flying in the sky using their Aspect, he would not make a fool of himself by not knowing what kind of Aspect it was.

Ryan also came to know that the world he was living in was called Primordia, and it was extremely vast.

Not only that, he also came to understand why the kingdom willingly conducted a free awakening ceremony every year.

In fact, it was not just the Bright Light Kingdom, this free ceremony was held all over Primordia on the first day of the Month of Freedom.

The reason behind it was to gather more talented individuals… but why did the higher-ups of Primordia want to gather more talented people?

It was because Primordia was currently at war… and it was a war against multiple worlds.

Some of these were worlds that had invaded Primordia, while others were worlds that Primordia itself had invaded.

In the end, it was simply a war for more resources.

Although Ryan was surprised to learn that the world he was living in was at war with multiple worlds, he did not think too much about it, as he was currently just a small fry and had nothing to do with it.

While enhancing his knowledge, Ryan did not forget to make his life more stable.

He registered himself with the Evo Association, an organization created to manage all evolvers, not only within the Bright Light Kingdom but throughout the entire world of Primordia.

Previously, when Ryan had awakened his Aspect in the slums, he had already been registered in the Evo Association by Hans, who was responsible for the awakening ceremony.

However, it had only been a nominal registration, where his information was uploaded into the database of the Evo Association.

He had not received an Evo Identity Card, which was the true sign of being a member of the Evo Association.

After officially registering himself with the Evo Association, Ryan finally received his Evo Identity Card, and of course, it was not free.

He had to pay a full five thousand credits to obtain the card.

Although Ryan's heart bled when he paid for it, this card was extremely important for all evolvers, so he had no choice but to get it, thinning out his already limited funds even further.

The only thing that made him feel slightly better was that it was not just him who had to pay five thousand credits. Every single person who registered with the Evo Association and received an Evo Identity Card had to pay this fee.

If it had been only him paying while others were exempt, he would have definitely cursed their ancestors for a hundred generations before handing over the money.

Inside his rented house, Ryan closed a book that contained basic information about the surrounding kingdoms of the Bright Light Kingdom and stretched his body.

"Finally done..." He muttered softly as he stood up from the plastic stool he had been sitting on.

After stretching for a while to relax his stiff shoulders, Ryan took out a deep blue-colored crystal card from his pocket.

The card was very plain-looking, with only a golden pupil-like eye engraved at its center.

It was the Evo Identity Card that he had spent a full five thousand credits to obtain.

Holding the card in his hand, Ryan pressed on the center of the golden pupil with his thumb. Instantly, a small holographic screen expanded from the card, hovering right above it.

====

---) Card Holder Name: Ryan

---) Identity Level: Low Rank

---) Current Rank: Unranked

---) Missions

Ryan looked at the holographic screen before him and pressed on the missions section.

The identity level on the card represented Ryan's current standing within the Evo Association.

There were six levels of identity. From low to high, they were: Low Level, Medium Level, High Level, Platinum Level, Diamond Level, and Crystal Level.

The current rank represented his cultivation rank, which was still unranked because he had not yet started cultivating due to the lack of a proper technique.

Rank points showed the available points he had earned through missions.

These points could be used to increase his identity level and unlock more benefits.

As soon as Ryan pressed on the mission section, many different missions issued by the Evo Association of Buka City appeared before him.

===

1. ---) Mission: Collect and submit three stalks of Heavy Metal Grass that usually grow in the outer area of the Misty Pine Forest.

---) Reward: Five hundred credits and two rank points

---) Mission Level: Unranked

2. ---) Mission: Submit the heart of a Rank One Fire Lion.

---) Reward: Two thousand credits and five rank points

3. ---) Mission: ---

There were more than fifty missions listed in the mission section, but Ryan only looked at them and did not accept any.

"There are some missions that I might be able to complete to earn some quick cash, but in order to avoid any unforeseen danger, I first need to confirm my current strength..." Ryan muttered in a low voice as he looked at his body, which was vastly different from his frail self ten days ago.

Thinking for a moment, Ryan left his house and quietly walked toward the more populated area of Buka City.
